That’s the sad thing, that every Tom **** and Harry can see what we should play, yet we won’t. As you rightly said, Deeney will start, he will shove Welbeck on the left, Capoue will start and it will be the same all over again.
In fairness to Capoue - I don’t think he’s not trying, he seems angry, annoyed and fed up with his teammates, so he’s playing with emotion rather than a calm head. Against Southampton he kept telling Cathcart to move up so he could receive the pass at a better angle. Today he did the same against Mariappa - he also started a few attacks for us. He’s also 31 and playing too much football for someone who’s body is declining. Poor game, but definitely cares. But I do agree Hughes should be captain.
We look like a bang average championship side. Not sure where we go from here, the championship I suspect. The only chance we have is beating Norwich, and then hoping that Muff and Villa continue to be rubbish. From what I have seen, I think Villa will pick up a couple of results. Muff have looked poor, but at least they are scoring a few.
There will be quite a few doing that. I don't expect Pearson to do the right thing. Deeney isn't a talisman anymore he is a curse. We're trying to cater for one players strengths if you can call them that at the expense of the whole team. Watford FC is bigger than any one player and for the good of the club the right thing must be done. Drop him. If Giraldi is forcing the selection then Pearson should do the right thing. Go and tell him where to go. Because if we play the same hoofball against Norwich, Newcastle and West Ham we have no hope. I mean what sane person would keep handing the advantage to their opponents constantly by surrendering the ball. It always means we have little chance of creating anything, building pressure. We remain pinned in our half constantly as there is no chance the deep lying midfield can pick up on anything the donkey manages to win or flick on. It's the sort of football John Beck loved. But even he played the percentage game. We are not playing any game at all. No use of the brain at all. Femenia for instance on the overlap in the first half slings in an aimless cross in hope. Play it off James. Win a corner......But then we are let down by the shambolic set pieces. I wonder what Shakespeares take on all this is. Because he is supposed to be one of the best coaches in the country.
Arons and Lewis both former players at them up the road as well. Left when their set up went **** up. I'd swap Pereyra for Buendia as well. Tremendous dynamo and creative and works so hard.
It's a personal nightmare incoming. I will be on court with my elite squad one of whom is a Loon fan. This will be the equivalent to five minutes with Blackadder III and his pencil. Goodbye cruel world.
A B If A occurs, B will be the natural outcome and your wish will be granted.. Quad Erat Demonstrandum
Probably try to play Welbeck out wide dropping someone like Chalobah in midfield going back to 433. We will be expected to be on the front foot and attack v Norwich - if we aren't then might as well give up .
That’s exactly right and is what was so disappointing about the first half at Burnley. For whatever reason the attitude ‘in that moment’ is where it all went wrong in my view.
Foster Kiko God Knows God Knows Massina Anyone but Capoue Doucoure Cleverley Pussetto Sarr Welbeck Grind 1 - 0 but at least fight Deeney should have a house party for him Gray, Capoue, Pereyra, Holebas and Giraldi and feck off til the season ends
Scenes when Deeney scuffles home a 90th minute winner with our first shot on target, which persuades the management to persist with the same tired lineup that eventually sees us relegated
Lots of calls to play Chalobah again - am I alone in thinking that whenever Quina plays (admittedly not often this season) he looks superior to Chalobah?
Welbeck looked better than he has. Not sure if that was becauae he was central or because Chelski had eased up or because we started playing a higher back line, making the passes a bit shorter. (Likely some of each). I noticed Masina had some compression tape on his neck (and presumably down his back/right shoulder area. I suspect this was why he only played a few minutes. I got the distinct impression that Pearson was trying to keep the team from wearing themselves out in a lost cause - while trying a few small changes. I expect we'll see something like this: ---------------Foster Femenia - Kabasele - Cathcart - Masina -----------Capoue --Hughes -----Doucoure -Sarr-----Welbeck -------Pereyra Bench Gomes Dawson Holebas Chalobah Pedro Deeney Pussetto If that group can be convinced to play the higher line that we took towards the end of this last match, it should be more than enough for Norwich.
Absolutely not. Norwich haven't scored a goal or won a point since the restart. Their forwards have lost confidence and their defenders are constantly caught out of position upfield. Watford 0 Norwich 1.
West Ham are 1-0 up on Newcastle after ten minutes, so we could well be about to watch another relegation candidate pull away and sail off into the distance far away from us.
I'd be asking the ball be played to Sarr and Pussetto at every opportunity. Two strikers in and around the box with pace and the ability to run the channels. More chances and actually getting a goal which is what we desperately need. Hughes and Doucoure together are sufficient given their work rate and attitude. Both are intelligent enough to realize when they could break in and attack or let one go forward and the other sit. Ditto for Masina and Femenia in providing Pussetto and Sarr their overlaps. Sadly this is all pure conjecture because we will be no doubt subjected to the same drivel on Tuesday when we need to win. A win would provide confidence as would goals.
Watford are rank ****. If they do not win this game they will end the season being relegated, results will not go for them forever. Must win. Will probably end 0-0 as they limp towards relegation. C nuts.
I'd take 0-0. Clean sheet and something to build on. Plenty more football to be played. Norwich won't make it easy.
Delia is rumoured to be starting this one,up front with a omelette pan and egg timer either side. Her husband Michael Wynn Thingy makes up the midfield and five small yellow birds make up the rest of the team. Watford 0 ( Deeney s/o 3 for emptying a tub of creme fraiche over Delia) Norwich 2 ( Delia,1,small yellow bird#3 90+7)
I think we will lose this game 2-0. Both goals in the last 15 minutes after Norwich pass us off the park.
