Both games since lockdown have been tight, slow, cautious. Lota of other games have been as well. Before the virus, we had a few games that we lost by a goal or drew. We have not been properly beaten under Pearson aside from Man Utd. The only game i think we have less than a slim chance in is Man City away. They'll just be playing beach football, rather than being on the beach.

Even the Burnley game where we played badly, we could have got a point or even 3. I'm also hopeful that we will raise the bar from that game and be more positive. Theres also West Ham, Villa, Bournemouth below us who are all just as *****.

What I'm saying is lets not throw in the towel just yet eh? Southampton have a forward enjoying his season, they might also be at 75% with nothing to play for.

Another big opportunity. A win for us would be a hammer blow to Villa’s hopes. Let’s hope the players are “at it” from the start this time whichever side is picked.

This is a sobering thought. If we fail to win today, we'll be on a run that matches QSF before he was sacked. Under Flores we had 1 win and picked up 7 points from 10 games. Pearson's last 9 games have produced 1 win and 6 points.

If we lose this one, with another Burnley style insipid performance, I wonder if the owner will pull the trigger again. A new manager bounce could be the only thing to save us, if we lose again today.

As bad as we've been during this one, it still doesn't compare to how bad we was under QSF. The players all seem to get on with Pearson and I think he's done a pretty good job considering how far we were adrift when he took over. He deserves to have the chance to try and keep us up even if we do lose today.

    I agree.

Too early to say if he has done a good job though, it depends if we stay up or not as that is what he came in for - to keep the club in the Premier League.

Only time will tell of course but at least in NP we've got someone whose been in this kind of position before and managed to keep teams up. I don't see any logical reason to get rid of him at this stage.

We talk about Pearson 'knowing what it takes to escape relegation' and having survived before, referencing his great escape at Leicester a lot, but is it really a very appropriate comparison? He achieved it by taking 22 points from an available 27 over the last nine games of the season, and with a team that included Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez; a team the majority of which would go on to win the title the season after. Do we think we are capable of getting anywhere near that points tally?

It's true, we don't need as many as that, but I think that difference is part of the reason why the fact that Pearson has 'done it before' isn't really a particularly good harbinger of whether he can, or will, or indeed is doing it again.

It's not like he carefully plotted that strategy; they were abject, terrible all season under him, until those final nine or ten games, when they went on a mental purple patch the likes of which have hardly ever been seen, and which rolled straight on into the next season to the point they won the bloody title. We aren't rolling anywhere, we don't have players of the effectiveness of his Leicester team, and we're not playing in any discernible style at all, let alone one that's likely to see us win multiple games. We're not even in good form, at all.

This is not me declaring that I think we will be relegated; I hope more than anything that we won't be, and theoretically it is still in our hands. But I'm not entirely sure what Pearson has brought to that at this point, other than a dead cat bounce and not being Quique (aside from a freak miracle at Liverpool) and I'm not sure why we should expect him to be inspiring great change at this point in the season, especially not when you look at the way he sent the team out against Burnley (and no, I'm not talking about the 4-4-2).

Agree, but the pace of Ings, Long and Redmond won't match up well against Carthorse and Donkeyson.

Let's be honest, it's not really any loss at all.

Good, not a huge loss and sends the right message. I hope they are all fined for their wages covering the weeks they miss as well

Lets hope this is the last we see of Gray in a Watford squad

    For me

    starts are

Foster, Dawson, Hughes , Sarr , Cathcart , they seem to care so should be picked

seems we can’t play without Doucs and Deeney on the pitch, don’t think they have been good enough , but think we have to play them anyway

as for the other 4 I have no idea

a strange question, is Bobby P actually good and we just can’t see it, against Leicester we looked alright , we all pray for Bobby P to be dropped , he is and we then put in possible the worst half of football I ever seen us play

Andre Gray, Nathaniel Chalobah and Domingos Quina have all been omitted from the squad by Nigel Pearson to ensure the health & safety of all players, staff and officials at today’s game.

Genuinely surprised given the way he purports himself on social media that Chalobah was one of the players stupid enough to do this, and he genuinely is a miss from the bench, because who comes on for Capoue/Hughes/Doucoure when they're tiring now? Cleverley has largely been a passenger since he came back from his first major injury, and there's no Quina either because he's another one of the chuckle brothers. I find it hard to express how stupid a decision this was, it's just inexplicable, and so disrespectful to their teammates, not to mention the club and its fans.

Same side As Leicester (except Cathcart) ?

probably true about a loss but who know that squad is capable of winning but also capable of looking like a bunch of tossers
