My guess is the substitutions were partly due to it being the first.game back and not wanting to pick up injuries.
You just knew after spurning so many clear chances that Leicester would go up the other end and nick a goal. It always happens. Really impressed how we clawed it back though.
Who was it on here who used to shout about if you don’t go to the game your view isn’t relevant? Very rusty nothing seemed to click. Doucs and Pereyra looked at sea. Typical first day back game. Draw was fair I think.
That's a great result against the team in 3rd. Apart from a very short spell in 2nd half they didn't look like scoring. Premier League top scorer didn't get a sniff, and we made the best chances, even though we were far from our best. Poor effort from Pererya, terrible. Better effort from Deeney, but no quality at all, and it is almost like we are playing with 10 men with those two on the pitch. Hughes and Dawson were both very good and Foster, after having very little to do, made a brilliant save from one of their few effort on goal. But I'm well chuffed with that performance and result.
Invaluable point. Fair result. Doucoure and Peryra looked well off the pace but most others showed well. Kiko, Hughes and Dawson had strong games.
I'm not expecting him to be the saviour but surely Joao Pedro would have been good to bring on in the last 10 minutes of a game like that. Evans and Soyuncu know exactly how to deal with a player as one dimensional as Feeney and took him out of the game. Gray is not good enough and easy to defend against as well. Why not try and catch a team off guard by throwing on an unknown player
Dawson has received a lot of stick this season, and rightly so, but boy was he immense today, even before the goal. Hughes and Foster also had very good games. Sarr nearly, but just a shame his final ball was even more hit-and-miss than usual, but it's understandable. Mariappa needs to be shot - brought on as a sub just 10 minutes earlier, yet casually jogs across the pitch to "close down" Chilwell for their goal, disgraceful. Capoue and Doucoure both looked rusty. Welbeck does not even look a footballer anymore. Pereyra was poor, but we have no other options with Delboy injured. Draw was fair overall.
I thought Black Lives Matter was MoM, closely followed by Black Lives Matter. Black Lives Matter had a shocker.
Good result in the end though and a major relief to get the point , but we had the chances to win that . We lacked a bit of sharpness generally . As mentioned Hughes was great and that was Dawson’s best performance in a Watford shirt which is very encouraging . Capoue and Doucoure not at the races , though Capoue still produced a few moments of sheer quality . Thought Sarr grew into the game well . I’m not sure we really ha e any subs to come on and actually make an impact , wouldn’t t it be worth sticking Peneranda on the bench or even Jao Pedro . Was impressive to see us fight back after the late goal even without the crowd to get them going . Shows a good team spirit .
A point is a fair result. Both sides had chances, can't believe Sarr missed that one on one! Shoutout to Craig Dawson, he's been much improved since NP took over and he fully deserved that goal today.
What does Joao Pedro have to do get in this team? Surely he’d have had more of an impact than bloody Welbeck or Mapps
Human nature is to be conservative when in survival mode. I can’t see us being too adventurous with young untried talent before the end of the season.
His hold up play was pretty decent in my opinion. Should've had an assist for a Doucoure goal aswell. We're a lot better with him in the side than we are without,
If anyone missed Dawson's goal, it can be seen here. https://twitter.com/i/status/1274341940293705733
We simply have no good options. He is arguably the best of a rancid bunch of strikers, but he's still not good enough.
We have developed past the need for Mariappa, Dawson should be our second choice right-back. Capoue wasn't the all-action superhero we've come to know, but had his moments. Gray coming on for them, and us taking of Capoue and Doucoure changed the game, obviously there's a need for rotation, but both in one go was a bit risky, it's the kind of conservative substitutions that is one of Pearson's weak points Don't care who it is, we need literally anyone other than Pereyra to play the rest of the season, disappointed not to see Joao Pedro even get a place on the bench, I hope and expect to see a bit more of him before the season is out
Deeney won most headers pumped up to him, has had a weeks less full scale training than others, a good point for us, much better to get the 93rd min equaliser, than take the lead in the 90th min and still not win!
An enigma is our Troy, generally got the better of the physical battle, and linked up well at times with the others, but Christ on a bike, how many times did Sarr put in a cross, only to see Deeney miles away? Yeah, he's only had like 2 weeks training, but he's always like this
The problem with Bobby is that Pusseto is only cover and not really good enough himself. Bobby is a passenger now, but he’s still likely to pop up with a couple of goals over the remaining games. So net/net he’ll probably still contribute more than pusseto. It’s a **** situation.
Standard pozzo recruitment and the same in a number of positions. Lots of mediocre or below par options but nobody really good enough for the levels we aspire to.
Funny though that when Pereyra went off we got worse. I’m not claiming he had a good game, but merely that he started for a reason.
Hughes was good, very tenacious in the tackle and covered the ground well. Sarr is far and away our best player. Huge threat whenever he got the ball with room to run, but should have finished his chance, even on his left foot. I wonder if he had the room to go round the keeper? Kiko is our only option at right-back, but with so many games coming, it’s inevitable that we’ll see more from Mapps in the coming weeks. Terrifying thought. Bobby was crap, and doesn’t seem interested. Welbeck was equally as crap, but at least he’s got something to play for in trying to prove his fitness and worth. Not sure we’ve got enough time or patience to work him back to sharpness though. I’d have liked to see Joao Pedro on the bench, because I think he could be a useful wildcard option when we need a spark. Useful point, against a really good team. Have to build on it against Burnley.
I think we should put some of the youngsters on the bench and give the Don't agree that Sarr should have scored, he actually put in a decent shot but Schmichel pulled off a great save IMO.
Great shoutbox today. Hope Pereyra and Deeney continue to start, as they focus our bile. Shout out to Clive for adding to the toxicity. He's my motsb.
I also thought he would've made the bench today after getting an assist against Brentford + the injury to Success - but seeing the bench it's hard to really make a cause for him at the moment I think
I was going to add that - surely one of those two must be a better option than Welbeck? He can't even control the ball.
I've since watched it again and there is no other reason for him to be so narrow except for lack of concentration. Looks as if he thinks he is playing Centre Back! Need to keep him out of the side.
