Palace defended very well indeed, but offered very little going forward. If it wasn't for Ayew taking that chance extremely well, it would have been a point each which probably would have been fair.

I worry about Nigel's lack of a plan B when teams don't let us play on the counter.

I don't actually think we played that badly, we were just tactically neutralised going forward.

I think we'll probably have more of a chance vs Leicester next week than we did today, as hopefully they'll commit forward a bit more than Palace dd and allow Sarr some space to get behind. We'll probably then struggle again vs Burnley the next week, in what could be a similar game to today.

Pussetto / Welbeck on the left instead of Pereyra please... (Though Welbeck hasn't shown anything of note in his time yet - he needs gamezzzzz).

Luckily other results went our way today on the whole.

I couldn’t agree more. It does however seem that some of our fans look at every signing the same way, and that Pussetto should be looked at in the same way as Sarr or Docoure, in so much as they need time to bed in and will then miraculously become fantastic players.
That isn’t what I’m saying at all. But if it’s completely gone over your head I’m not going to waste my time trying to explain it to you.

On another note - and granted we were dog **** and deserved to lose - Zaha should have been sent off. How that wasn't a second yellow I have no idea.

I hate the VAR incompetence almost as much as I hate our team.

Sema doing well? He's been substituted in his last 4 games....in the 37th minute in the last game against Bologna and was replaced by Zeegelaar.

    Keep trying to gaslight.

Pussetto hasn't been brought in to do well. He's been brought in because Udinese didn't want him and because we had space in our squad as a result of failing to address our gaping shortcomings. Purely about tidying away their Pozzo toys. He'll not be here next season whatever league we are in. He'll go on one of the famous Pozzo grand tours of Liga 2 or Serie A or something. He's a Watford player in name only, like many of our, understandably, unbothered vacationers.

Yeah it was easily at least a second yellow. However, unfortunately for whatever reason VAR can not intervene in suggesting obvious yellow cards, only red, so as the ref maybe didn't see it and he wasn't told it was a red then he couldn't do anything.

However, knowing our luck we still would have lost and Zaha would have been out for their game against Muff next week, thus going on to lose. So perhaps it's actually for the best that he stayed on the pitch.

No, I get what you're saying because you said it. Pussetto isn't allowed time to aclimatise but Sarr is because of the price tag.

That's still much more game time than Pussetto was getting. And the fact that they're also still playing Zeegelaar rather supports my point as opposed to yours.

You're also not using the term "gaslight" accurately.

No, he was pointing out that there's a reason why one cost 5x the amount of the other in the first place.

No you said Sema was doing well, I countered with facts which disprove your comments and then you double down with another poor argument...but you say it with conviction...I'll grant you that.

Yes and one is allowed to acclimatise, the other isn't.

You're not making any valid arguments to counter it.

Our bench lost us this match.

Gray - proven time and again to be just woeful.

Welbeck - just not match ready.

Dawson - slow and out of his depth at PL level.

Mariappa - Championship quality at best.

Pussetto - simply not showing PL credentials. Irrelevant whether due to lack of talent or bedding in period.

What was Pearson really meant to do after being dealt that hand?

Haven’t read anybody else’s comments , haven’t got the heart (will go back and see what you all think)

I actually think with the exception of Pereya we were sort of all right, thought Hughes looked a handful, thought Doucs looked capable. However I realised by the end of first half we were never going to score it just wasn’t falling for us, then we were taking to much time and trying to pass the ball in to the back of the net

I think the problem was without Gerry they could neutralise Sarr as they only had one wing to worry about , with Gerry on the pitch we can go down either side and look a threat. With Pereya on the wing he is just gonna bottle it at every opportunity.

sad thing is yet again we fail to pull away from the relegation zone and yet again we are in the position that we may survive if we are lucky, wish we would either get a grip or collapse can’t be doing with all of this goal difference separating us from the drop zone business.

thought palace were good in defence ,its too easy to say we were **** they just managed to neutralise us in the last 1/3

Let's face it, we're not very good. We've got good players, we can produce good performances, but we cannot do this week after week. That's beyond us. Teams like Palace are sides we should be able to beat, but this type of performance and result is so typical of Watford. Forget Liverpool, that was just amazing, but today was very much a case of after the lord mayor's show. A flat performance was always likely to happen.

Yes, Zaha should have seen red, but we've not had any luck with decisions all season, so why should that start now.

The fact remains, we still need 4 more wins, but now it's from 9 games. Seems unlikely we'll get this many, but it's looking like something similar for all the other sides around us.

We're lucky that there are so many other strugglers around us. We're in bad form and the run has been quite long now. The Liverpool game was an anomaly, but shows we can do good things, but it seems to rely on us taking the lead and the opposition not scoring. If we go behind or if the opposition score, we seem to fall to pieces. This is a huge problem. We've only won 6 games, but they've all been with clean sheets, apart from Wolves, where we heroically held on.

I believe we can still win 3 of our remaining games, so we'll still be in with a shout come the final few weeks, but we're really going to have to rely on others failing.

Annoying yes, end of the world no.

Was always going to be difficult if we didn’t score first. Palace are such a boring team that defend. Basically another Burnley. We couldn’t break them down. We had to score first. We didn’t, so it was a lost cause.

Thankfully other results went our way. So not much damage done, just a missed opportunity to create a little gap between us and the rest.

Pearson has done a great job since coming in. Only negative for me was not changing it up earlier to give them something different to think about. Would have liked to see us go 4-4-2 with 30mins left.

Still nine games left, need 4 wins. Exciting end to the season as opposed to the boring ones we are use to.

Leicester on Saturday at home, early kick off, Pearson will rip into them this week and demand we bounce back.

It’s still in our hands at the moment. We still have home games against Southampton, Norwich and Newcastle. Those will be the games that define our season.

The dive or the hand in the face. Lucky to not get 3 yellows. He's not good enough for a top 10 side.

Absolute bottle job today. Palace, the nasty little tykes, set about us, got in our ear and under our skin and we couldn’t deal with it. They looked like the side fighting for their lives and we looked like a mid table side who couldn’t give a toss.

Special mention to our Troy who did his usual thing after giving a nine out of ten performance the week before, literally did **** all and will no doubt be anonymous for the next five games.

Another special mention to Pereyra who like Deeney did absolutely nothing, however it took Pearson over 70 minutes to haul the useless number 37 off.

I thought the back four were ok with Hughes being our best player, other than that, the rest need a right royal b0ll0cking

Which is what worries me the most. At the moment we cannot even take care of ourselves. Spam, Muff, Villa and Brighton cannot be sh!te for nine games. We, unfortunatly, are more than capable of it.

Sema has been doing well enough to be starting regularly for them, which Pussetto was incapable of.

He is also their 4th highest rated player on whoscored: https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/86/Show/Italy-Udinese

The sub in the previous game was made immediately after they went a goal ahead away to Milan and so switched to a more defensive setup.

Prior to today palace had four 1-0 wins and four 1-0 defeats. Basically if you get the first goal against them you win, if they get the first goal you lose.

He's played in 4 of the last 5 games. Sure he's not at the level of Sarr, but he is a Watford player.

He does appear to bothered when he plays.

I know that doesn't fit your narrative but they are the facts.

You’d think the players would step up in training and say javi done this at set pieces it worked with these players, let’s give it a try.

So he can't be trusted to help the team and can't last 90 minutes.

    20 starts, he's been subbed off 10 times....hmmmmm...

Pereyra managed to put a shift in last week, shame he couldn't today. We all know he's a fair-weather, inconsistent player though. He probably prefers playing at home (not sure if the stats would also support that?).

It's true that he made it easier for them to mark Sarr today, but also they sat deep which meant Sarr had less room to use his pace. Also, the fact that Palace have Van Aanholt and Zaha on that side of the pitch would always make it more congested for Sarr anyway.

Thought it was a deserved 3 points for us today. You lot rarely threatened and looked incapable of breaking us down. It was very similar to how you had been playing last season IMO but this season luck and bully boy tactics haven't been getting you the points.

The nastiest/whiniest bunch of players I think I have come across in the Premier League. Seems as if the only way you can win is by foul means and constantly interrogating the ref (who bottled it today) The leaders of the pack seem to be Deeney and capoue who against Palace have one plan. Kick and antagonise Zaha and the immediately surround the referee hoping for something.

This season teams have wisened up to Watford's physical approach and realised that they don't have very much in their locker. That only means one thing unfortunately. I wont utter the words though, don't worry.
