No I wouldn't. I dont think it's unreasonable to expect a premier league player to be able to control a football. Or complete a pass. And if he was up to standard he would have had more than one today. He's just not good enough
Gray was awful again tonight, he is just such a poor technical footballer and the slowest "quick" player ever, but the fact he scored regardless does balance things.
Soton never an easy game for us. Wolves probs going to beat that pile of **** arsenal as well The race is truly on
Pereyra creates nothing and doesn't score, I don't see why gray is getting stick. He has contributed literally nothing for months. Head elsewhere I think.
For most of the game Southampton looked like they wanted it more. Thought Delefeou provided the spark late on. We need to offer him a big fat deal in the summer. Mixed feelings about Gray. He does give his all, but we need do need a new striker in the summer, with a bit of finesse.
They should have been out of sight by half time so we take the point and run. You can't win with that many passengers. Garbage performance leaving us in a right old scrap for 7th. We now have to hope Arsenal do us a favour but I can't see it happening.
Amazing when you think about it. First Foster hands Arsenal a goal. Then Deeney earns a daft red. Then Cathcart hands Soton a goal. Remove all of those easily avoidable incidents and we'd likely be 5 points better off.
I saw the game quite differently. I think Southampton made us play badly. They were quite Gracia-like: kept a solid shape, cute with their passing, they were very aggressive at winning the ball in the middle. They used the outball to Long and Redmond effectively until they tired and Long was taken off. We needed to keep our heads, wait for them to tire and keep going with our passing game. We eventually got our rewards, and deserved a point in the end, but it was hard fought. The clear weak point for both sides was the lack of a striker to come on and force the issue. But we’re both good sides with good managers, and they’ll do well next year, I reckon.
It infuriates me the way Gracia has these games where he refuses to see what's right in front of his face. It was so obvious we had no out long ball up the pitch which meant Southampton were free to press us high and knew we would have to try and play through them. For all his faults at least Success would have meant we could mix it up more and play both short and long with some hope of keeping the ball. Exactly the same thing will happen v Wolves as well.
Nobody could make that up. It's probably why supporting Watford makes us all crazy sometimes. The moments of sheer utter madness mixed in with pure adrenaline. We must be the most inconsistent side in the leauge, but at least it's never dull.
50 Points, 50 Goals Scored and 50 Goals Conceded. End the season now, or my OCD is going to go into meltdown
Good point and 7th is in our hands. Even if wolves win tomorrow, they still have to play us at home which they won’t fancy. I’ve watched their last two games and they have been very poor. The loss to us in the Semi-Final has definitely had an impact on them. With Spurs winning tonight, arsenal need to get at least a point, so will be up for it tomorrow.
Quite. He’s been lethal this year. How many winners has he got us? I’d play him 90 mins just for that one chance he buries.
Its funny how differently we see games, I thought Hughes looked ok, he was one of the few players who was looking to try and play balls into the areas that Gray was running into, but just wasn't getting the rub of the green today.
Can anyone give me a logical explanation as to why it is that we insist on hoofing long, high balls at two 5'10 forward who can't jump? Senseless.
On balance I think that is a point won. We weren't great across the whole team, but hung in there for the draw. Soton have picked up their performances recently with their manager Back to point one, its not that we weren't great - we were very poor/average Other than Gray's early chance - how many really good chances did we miss? Not many.... Before the game this game I would have been disappointment with a draw, but after it I was relieved to get a point, an I think I'd have felt the same if we'd equalised after 60 mins.
