I hope we go full strength for this one. QPR are 16th in the Championship and lost 2-1 at Ashton Gate last night. Watford 3-1.
I hope there's a mix of fringe and first team. Good enough to win, but a chance to rest some players ( Holebas, Janmaat Mariappa, Doucoure), whilst giving some welcome minutes to the likes of Chalobah, Gray, Quina and Britos.
Expect the (experienced) second string with a smattering of first teamers and a loaded bench. (And a win).
Me too. Quarter Pound of Rubbish is what we used to call them at school. If we do lose it'll be my fault as I've arranged a viewing of it in a local restaurant with a few mates.
I think it'll be 10 changes. Holebas the only player retained as he's got his 2 match break coming up anyway. We'll lose in extra time.
No, that's just a League Cup thing. FA Cup still has extra time: http://www.thefa.com/news/2018/dec/18/fa-cup-fifth-round-replays-181218
QPR had a tough match last night at Bristol City. They were winning but ended up losing 2-1 in the last minute. It's going to be physically demanding for them to play two matches in quick succession, so that can only be a good thing for us. I don't have a problem if Javi swaps 11 players again, as it's that team who has got us to the 5th round in the first place. That team went to Newcastle and won 2-0 which is a hell of an achievement, however, Wilmot is no longer around, so hopefully Doucoure will be drafted into the squad this time. You can never tell how a match like this will go. QPR under lights, big game for them (and for us for that matter), but it won't be easy and there's bound to be a couple of scares along the way. Having said that, we should have enough to get through this tie but it might take a replay, extra time, penalty shoot-out, or whatever the rule now is.
"Don't go down there it's where all the f***ing QPR Rangers fans are" said a policeman to my brothers, when Shteve had hair and before they had a plastic pitch. Very disappointed not to get a ticket, so I shall be in The Goat, dressed as an umbrella.
They shipped four goals in the first half at home in their last game, came back and nearly snatched a draw out of it but the signs are good for us. Comfortable 2-0 Watford win for me.
Admittedly never heard of QPR (what an odd name for a football club), but we should have more than enough for their band of plumbers, carpenters and PPI salesmen. Wouldn't want to risk any of our first teamers from getting their legs broken by part time footballers playing the biggest game of their lives. Recall a few loans, pull a few strings at the Home Office and go with: Subs: Foster, Cathcart, Masina, Capoue, Doucoure, Deeney, Deulofeu Prediction QPR 1-2 Watford Segura (og 88); Deeney (90+1, 90+4)
With no game until the following Friday (when did we last play on consecutive Fridays?!) I can see Gracia mixing the team up a bit in this round. But I wouldn’t be against him playing the whole ‘cup’ team again - they’ve all earned the right to play IMO. I think Gomes is our ‘cup’ keeper. I don’t think Foster will play any part in the cup this season. Can see Cathcart and Janmaat playing. Would not be surprised to see Quina on the bench to be honest and I think Clevs, Chalobah start with Capoue. I also think Deloufeu and Hughes will start. If there are question marks over the fitness (or match-fitness) of Success, Kiko, Doucoure, Pereyra...let them stay at home. We have the depth to be okay this season. Hard fought 2-1 win. The last two rounds - Woking was always going to be a win, and Newcastle won’t have shed any tears going out - have been weighted in our favour in terms of opponents. Friday will see a team who, although not great, will likely be at full strength and motivated. Should win but we won’t have it all our own way I suspect.
Think as we have a full week before fixtures I would like to see Javi field the strongest team he can , If we try to take the piss and change whole team again against what will be a very motivated qpha side, we could make life hard for ourselves .
This game doesn't disrupt our schedule too much as this weekend had been kept clear for the game anyway. QPR also played last night, so I wonder if that would impact their team. For our part, I would expect a fairly full team, albeit with a couple of rotations for the sake of game time. Gomes; Femenia, Mariappa, Kabasele, Masina; Cleverley, Chalobah, Quina; Sema, Deeney, Deulofeu Subs: Dahlberg, Cathcart, Janmaat, Hughes, Doucoure, Gray, Penaranda. QPR 1-2 Watford
