Supposedly Chalobah was offered the chance to go to Udinese but turned it down so he could focus on training and getting fit for next season here. The opportunity was then offered to Wilmot.
Folivi has now gone out on loan. TBW - Deadline Day @BurndenWay 46s47 seconds ago DONE DEAL: AFC Wimbledon have signed Michael Folivi on loan from Watford. https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/under-23s/under-23-folivi-joins-dons
Adam LeventhalVerified account @AdamLeventhal 58s59 seconds ago #WatfordFC transfer update Aside from few loans out, nothing likely - always fancy a late curve ball, but even one of those doesn’t look likely. Remember having to google Adelberto Penaranda with frozen hands & then having to try and pronounce his name with a frozen face.
By my reckoning we are now two players lighter from the start of the season? Okaka, Zeegelaar and Wilmot out, Peneranda in. Zeegelaar was never needed, Peneranda seems to be Okaka's replacement so that leaves us losing Wilmot (third choice CM with Doucoure currently injured).
Two interesting late developments: •PSG have made a €30m bid for Gueye. •’Sky understand’ Palace have agreed terms with Batshuayi
Oh God, here we go Watford fans meltdown incoming - "why aren't we paying £30m+ and £150k+ p/w for an average striker?!" etc. etc.
Based on what? His PL record is pretty awful despite playing in a good side (except when he plays against us). 1 goal in 15 league games for Valencia too who no longer want him.
You know they must be paying him a crazy amount per week because west ham couldn’t afford him, and they pay stupid money.
Batshuayi is like the on field version of Marco Silva Everyone just assumes he'll be great, but what has he actually done to deserve his reputation?
Always looks good when I see him play and has big upside potential. Pointless to cherry pick the Valencia loan. 12 in 10 for Dortmund in that case. Obviously Pozzo isn't capable of operating in this market, but I think he'll be a massive plus for Palace. Time will tell. Edit: Not worth anywhere near 160k per week though.
If we don't sign someone, I will be bitterly bitterly dissapointed and I will voice my displeasure at "Pwoooogwaammmes" man the day we play Everton, even if it is 9 days after the window has ended.
It’s been a very boring transfer window. The good news is, no-one has really strengthened around us. The only down side to that is, had we strengthened we would have had an even greater chance at 7th. Overall though, I’m really not that disappointed. Would have been nice to sign a first 11 CB but I have no doubt we were probably quoted outrageous fees. Strikers we don’t need. Lukebakio and Cucho coming in the summer will freshen things up. Add to that Deeney, Gray and Success, it’s definitely not a priority over defence. Still an hour to go, so who knows, we still have time to pull a South American out of the hat on loan.
I agree this window wasn't the time to buy a striker. But I'm not why everyone thinks Hernandez and Lukebakio are guaranteed to be the answer to our poor forward options. Seems wishful thinking. I doubt Hernandez will even get a work permit unless Brexit rules change.
I agree with Cucho, he has one goal from open play this season (which was a tap in) as far as I know yet is still being hyped up. Granted he is playing for a poor team but still a horrendous scoring rate.
I've watched Cucho a few times this season. Hasnt scored much but has played really well - works hard, great movement, lots of clever runs. In a better team he would have much more chances.
https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/big_chance_missed?se=210 We have missed the most amount of clear cut chances in entire premier league with our current forwards. Cucho will get way more service in this team than at Huesca. Could be totally wrong but I would imagine the big misses that Success has had this season, including the one yesterday against Spurs, Cucho and Lukebakio would have at least got it on target. It’s hard to judge a player playing for Huesca with the very little service he gets. As for Lukebakio he has set the Bundesliga alight this season. 11 goals in all competitions at the age of 21 in a league he has never played in before. Ripped Bayern and Dortmund apart. Is averaging a goal every 105 mins, or somewhere around that, in all competitions. Has pace to burn. I’m looking forward to him starting for us next season. Providing the Pozzo’s don’t cash in. To score a hat-trick against Bayern away from home at the age at 21 is the composure we are crying out for. I think he has won young player of month at least once already this season, maybe twice. They might not be the answer but let’s be honest the answer can’t get much worse than what we already have.
I hope so. But equally it's just 11 goals. He could just be an average player on a heater. Promising but let's see if he finishes with 20. I think it's foolish to pin all of next season's hopes on this pair. I think it's just a reflection on how desperate people are with the dreadful forwards we currently have and are looking for a miracle intervention.
Cucho is what, 13 years old? And he plays for the worst club in La Liga. He like as not won't be the answer for next year, but starting at however old he is.. for any team in La Liga is worth something.
A look at the actual accounts for Palace show wages £112m plus operating expenses £21m so £133m-compared to ours of £76m plus £30m of operating expenses-even so a wage bill 50% higher than ours
The fire sale continues......Ashley Charles out on loan https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/under-23s/under-23-charles-makes-barnet-move
I think I read somewhere on here that his contract was up at the end of this year. Can't imagine it'll be renewed.
The window has slammed shut. Time will tell how our inability to do anything will affect our battle for 7th and cup run.
