Do you feel Watford disrespected the cup and shortchanged the fans who travelled.

Blimey, that was just so easy, and we didn't play well, merely competently.

Not sure how the Newcastle fans felt when Benitez took off the only two players that looked like they could have created something, Murphy and Ritchie, when they were a goal down.

I really rate that Quina, he will be a little star, IMO.

You'd not have been happy had we lost that 1-0 or lose away to Doncaster next round. I think he got away with it but wouldn't have been too bothered had we lost. We were poor today (just read back the shoutbox comments re Masina, Chalo, Gray, Hughes if you didn't watch a stream) but fortunately poor was good enough. It won't be every time. I'd rather he just played the strongest team possible and gave us the best possible chance of winning the cup.

Newcastle made 7 changes. Definitely not a near full strength side for them considering their reserves are probably worse than Woking

Happy days. Wasn't sure about the line up beforehand with the multitude of changes but Javi and the team proved me wrong. Glad to see some of the fringe players perform well, it's great to see the squad players actually being competent replacements.

Hopefully we get some lower league opposition at home in the next round.

Has there ever been a team who has reached the final never playing at their home stadium?

That team today could easily be starting a Prem match.
Wilmot will be a star, for Watford & England in time.

There is a posibility that Britos will partner Cathcart on Wednesday as I think Kabasele played with a niggle last week. Janmaat is likely to start as well. Hughes may start, he will be in competition with Cleverley but depending on Doucoure's fitness both will play. All the others will be in the 18 except maybe Chalobah but he is back on the fringe of the squad.

Hoping for a home draw in the next round and I'm keeping the semi and final dates free for now just in case! :)

If you end up in the team, we really aren’t taking the Cup seriously.

No replays in the next round so a home tie would be preferable.

Professional performance, Gray took his goal well and I thought Chalabah was starting to get back into a bit form. Just ease him in for rest of the season and we basically have a new player next year.

Every performance I have seen from Wilmott has encouraged me. Whilst we are in the cup, he will stay but I wouldn't be too peeved to see him go on an emergency loan to a top league 1 or even Championship club later on in the season to get some first team football.

I know Ashley gets all the stick at NUFC but blimey Rafa plays such boring football, he basically done his best to lose that game, the third change being a defender when Rondon was on the bench. I really hope they go down. A lot of their fans seem to love Rafa due to him staying but I reckon it's more to do with no other clubs wants to see dire football each week, once decent team shows interest and he would be off. It's been at least a decade since a team of his has looked exciting.

Doncaster at home will do me for round 5.

They were abolished a couple of years back I think. If he's going out on loan it has to be while this window is open.

    Fantastic result!
Rested the majority of our first team and gave some players returning from injury much needed minutes in a proper competitive game rather than an under 23’s game. Also gave our squad players a chance to show what they’ve got to offer and make some of those rested players and coach think!
Gray needed minutes after a few games out with injury and a goal will also have boosted his confidence, great goal!
Now onto Spurs with a fully rested and fit squad apart from Doucoure. Our squad depth really is looking promising and playing today will have helped so much towards their development and hopefully their eventual progression to the first team
Well done JG for being fully justified in his team selection today!

    Boring boring boring game

We won with our two least effective players

Willmot looks decent, Chalobah looks months away from full fitness

Re-watched Success' goal a couple of times, and it was actually a good finish too. Quina fired it in behind him and he did well to adjust and get it on target. Two excellent finishes from our strikers who can't finish.

The thing is, they are stuck in a death spiral that neither party can escape from. Rafa's contract means that he would owe them several million in salary if he walked away, whilst Ashley refuses to do anything to improve the team or in any way make it a single percent easier for the Champions League-winning manager he has in place and the genuinely Championship-level squad he is forced to work with. Rafa doesn't always play dire football, and there's no doubting that he is a good manager; better than his current position. Any club coming in for him would be liable for that money, and they know that he'll be free soon (I believe in the summer). He will be fine, and walk into a better role than that which he currently occupies. Newcastle's fate at that point is not so certain.

On a sidenote, Jose Holebas is currently playing his 4th season for us. How weird is that? I've always seen him as sort of transitory, ever since we bundled him into the back of a van somewhere in Lazio and snuck him across the channel. And yet, in 20 years time, fans will never be like 'What, who are you talking about again? Oh, right, yeah, that bloke'. They'll be like 'Yeah Holebas, what a character'. He is in his own way a part of the fabric of the club, especially when you consider the average length of service of our players pre-Pozzo. You can pretty much guarantee any player of note from that period was a child generously bestowed upon us on loan by one of the Prem giants. It's funny how things turn out.

Wasn’t sure about Javi’s selection prior to the match , but it was a competent performance and some encouraging signs. Hughes was involved in most of the good stuff we did, Quina looked decent and Chalobah was showing signs of his old self, bringing the ball out and delivering some of those long passes.

Thought Newcastle were a bit toothless without Rondon and didn’t look like scoring , so don’t think our defence was tested.but we looked solid.

Fifth round is where I start to get a bit excited so hoping for a good home draw and then who knowsI think the comments on by sport are a bit patronising , as although I agree it was a risk there was a wealth of young talent on that field today for Watford ,so don’t think any Watford supporters would be too disappointed in getting to see some of those players starting.

******* bell end saying our fans would have been disappointed to see that team . Well I wasn't and just because he doesn't know any.of the players doesn't mean they haven't been in the first team this season . As a side note , when he thinks he's being funny saying "more faces than Big Ben" , someone should have told him that's the name of the bell , not the clock face lol

We played them off the park there earlier in the season, just had an off day in front of goal

There is a chasm in quality between the 2 sides

I agree with Sutton. Gomes in for Foster? Nonsensical. Chalobah gets a start when he can't touch the league game? Big risk. Fortunately we have a much deeper squad than Newcastle (Gray, Success, Janmaat, Quina are decent options). If we do that in he next round we may well lose. It's very simplistic to use the fact we won as a reason to bash Sutton imo.

More faces than Big Ben? Doesn’t Elizabeth tower have four faces? Surely every team has more players than that!

It doesn’t make sense but I could care less.
