By heart says 2-1 wfc My head says 3-1 muff My pancreas says 1-1 Liver, an exciting 2-2 draw Hopefully my kidneys 6-0 win to Muff won't be correct.
My testicles say 3-4. I'd rather have a new ref because it's a game where Oliver et al won't screw us over, unless it's Oliver and Atwells lovechild.
I notice that there is some movement on here to downplay our rivalry with them, well I would just like to say that I hate them, their manager, their cheating tactics, their poxy "stadium" and the fact that they pipped us to our first ever, proper trophy. I will be travelling south on Wednesday hoping that if we only win one more away game this season, it is on Wednesday evening.......
I trust our wealthier supporters, who live in the Channel Islands, will be traveling north with equal conviction.
Don't get me wrong...…. I still hope we beat the b***ards tomorrow. But I hope that every time we play anybody.
Weren’t the 1969 Third Division Championship, 1978 Fourth Division Championship and 1998 League Two Championship ‘proper’ trophies then?
Yes & No. I know that the creation of the Premier League devalued the Football League Trophy - but when I was young (gloryhunter in the 68-69 season!) the FA Cup and the Football League Trophy represented the pinnacles of the English game. Would have been nice to have one of them in the trophy cabinet! (mind you I would settle for the FA Cup instead)
We glory hunted at the same time. We’re around our 50th anniversary. I don’t have programmes & I certainly don’t have the memory to pinpoint exactly when. My first clear memory was a PNE fixture but I don’t believe they were in Div 3 that first season. I’m pretty sure it was after Christmas & it was cold. Feb 69? I remember watching Star Trek for the first time on getting home & thinking it was odd. Stevo would know straightaway who we played around then. Why don’t we be mascots for the Everton match? A couple of crunching handshakes would floor Richie.
Bough has the distinction of graduating from Oxford with a Fourth, the last ever such degree awarded.
Myself also started at the same time, 3rd Feb 69 home to Man United record attendance 34099, my first game have yet to come across anyone else who's first game was the same, there must be some!
Just looked. I'm pretty sure it was the Rotherham match straight after. That was 5-1. If it had been a goalless draw, would I have ended up a Tottenham fan?
How true! Imagine if the Millers had caned us. Six hour round trips to home matches & not even the Herts Senior Cup to brag about.
Happy new year folks! I'm more hopeful about this game than I would be normally, reason being we played on Saturday they played Sunday.
I love the tension and anticipation leading to derby day. There’s just an electricity in the air that you can sense. I know derbies are safer these days, but such vitriolic rivalries bring the worst out of some people. Please remember to travel in groups and stay safe everyone xx
I think it would have been worth the 1881 spending some cash for this one, and buying every fan attending a cardboard Javi face mask. Imagine how terrifying it would be for Muff fans and players alike to be greeted by a thousand or so manically grinning goblins. I’ve no doubt it would have unsettled them and tilted the balance in our favor. Failing that, the next evening game at The Vic, get one for each person in the Rookery stand. A wall of Javi would be enough to keep any oppo attacks at a fair distance.
Would definitely take a point from this. Would be a decent result considering the 1-0 head start the ref will give them imo.
If Nathan Ake is injured on top of the injuries to Adam Smith & Simon Francis then we absolutely have to win - that's three of their regular back four! Their enforcer Lewis Cook is injured too. 3-1 to Watford.
Just checked, and discovered that exactly half of Muffs 26 points was accumulated against teams that had a player sent off. This season one in five of every red cards has been awarded to a team playing Bournemouth.
Really? Cant be bothered to fact check you but that's 3 wows. To be fair if you can get away with it then exploit the loophole.
Joint most penalties (6) awarded in the league this season held jointly by Bournemouth and Man U. There is an inevitability that either we get a red or they edge ahead of Man U (with my stat) or both!
Bournemouth are a special case. Everyone loves plucky little Bournemouth, fighting against all odds with their billionaire Russian owner and the lovely Eddie Howe, who will be the next England manager you know.
