This is the first game this season we have played badly. We gave them three points. They are nothing special and indeed we dominated the early stages. We should have buried Fulham and thoroghly merited draws against Arsenal and Manchester United. However the central pairing have been poor recently and as I have been banging on about our decision making in the opposition box and final third continually lets us down and results in missed chances. Plus Gray although he does his utmost does not have the technical level required to be a consistent scorer. January we need to bring in a centreback and another striker in addition to Stuparevic. Our midfield is top class as good as any in the PL. And it has been purring. How Hughes misses out on an international call up beggars belief.
Bournemouth have played the same way for years now. Fast fowards, attack down the wings by overloading the full backs. We countered this with our classic 4-2-2-2 narrow formation and got ourselves outnumbered all over the pitch. We couldn't pass at all, even when it was just 1-0 we couldn't get anything going other than trying to hit it long to Deeney. Javi should've changed it before we even gave away the penalty. He can't be held responsible for players just going out there and being idiots but his lack of reaction to the sending off was concerning. Big chance to shake things up now. We started 4-2-2-2 due to the players available at the start of the season. Be interesting to see if we ditch it now we have other options.
Fair play to Bournemouth. Let’s move on - were better than us even when had 11 on field let alone 10 Let’s move on and forget that
I was in line with Kaba and Begovic and it was never a booking. But Begovic in true Muff fashion made the most of it
We were dominating up until the sending off even at 1-0 down I felt like we were the better team and there was no chance Bournemouth were going to keep a clean sheet, then we get done by CK's stupidness and have to go chasing the game with 10 men whilst being 2-0 down against a team well capable on the counter. 4-0 did flatter Bournemouth but fair play they took their opportunities at the Right times. You can't fault Javi before today but he should have made the Hughes for Mariappa substitution as soon as we went down to 10 men. I am not going to look into this too much it was one of those days and every team will experience it at some point Bournemouth did just the other week at Burnley, it's vital that we bounce back straight away and avoid a slump.
Time for a change up. Similar to when we had Ighalo and Deeney, teams have sussed out the way we play. We have players back now and with the 2 week break, all of our players that are currently available should be fit. Kabasele and Holebas will both be out of the Wolves games so Masina will be in. I’m hoping we bring in Wilmot for Kabasele.
Rolling on the ground in agony whenever they were beaten. Smith twice and Lerma in the last few minutes. Both recovered immediately after the restart. And the timewasting after the goal celebrations, ambling back to their own half
That's more like it, back to reality. Moss was blowing out his arse snorkel after their first goal, he showed no continuity kaba's cards were soft and he was just awarding the pen until cook started moaning. Hopefully it's a blessing and a kick up the arse and we respond just like muff have after there 4-0 drubbing. Just as you start looking at the fixture list and believe we have the potential to put some points on the board. Gracia should of brought Mapps on when kabasele went off, it might of kept the score down Mapps certainly would not of allowed Wilson to walk in for that forth.
I think it was even most of the way through the game. Even 10 v 11. Just decision making and key moments were missing at exactly the wrong moments in the game leaving us climbing through mud up a mountainside with moccasin slippers on. Bournemouth certainly not worth the diatribe praise theyll get on MOTD and Watford not as bad as 0-4 home reverse may suggest.
So Bournemouth score their first goal and the utter tool of a ref saunters slowly back to the halfway line having a laugh and a joke with their players. How is this fat c*** allowed to get away with this sh*t week after week?
An absolute disaster really. Javi needs to take criticism. At the time of the red just bring Maps on. It was really a simple decision to make. Then to not even make the change at HT was ridiculous.
Bang on. It's bonkers to waste a spot playing Deeney and Gray together, they don't add up to one decent premier league striker between them. It's criminal to do that and leave a fit Chalobah on the bench. We all know how Bournemouth play, except I assume Gracia who appeared to have done exactly zero research. It was plain stupid to line up in our narrow 442 and get overloaded... as was obvious what would happen. Then when it's obvious Cathcart and Kabasele were struggling from the start... to do sweet FA about it. Gracia seems incapable of reading games and making changes - Utd, Fulham, Bournemouth.... Leaving Mapps on the bench and putting Capoue in defence? What was that all about? So much wrong it's hard to know where to start. Unless something is done this season has scrape over the line with 40 points written all over it. Criminal considering the quality in the squad.
I disagree with many on here, I thought we were doing ok, and probably the better team until their breakaway goal. Then, I thought (from the view from behind the goal) that Kabesele got the ball and it shouldn't of been a penalty. But, others seem absolutely certain he didn't touch the ball so I am probably wrong on that incident. Then after being reduced to one CB, with three subs available, why on earth didnt we get Maps on, for heavens sake? Both the next goals were due to Kabesele missing, and then Capoue not doing CB marking job like a CB should. Thereafter we were not good, but I thought there was still plenty of effort, just nothing went right for us, and the referee just gave us nothing and gave Muff everything. He was shocking. We also should have made changes far more quickly, it is probably the one aspect of JG's coaching that annoys me. The play acting from the Muff players was just disgraceful, even when 4-0 up, it was embarrassing. This was by far our worse performance this season, but we were due one. It follows three games where we played well enough to get something. I'm not worried, but I just wish that JG would adapt to what is actually happening on the pitch.
We were winning every game til Hornetboy1 came back... Not exactly bringing luck to us, can mods ban him please?
Don’t think he was laughing. He was trying to get his oxygen mask on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You are right. The game was even and arguably we were the better team even at 1 down. Amd you are right about Javi needing to adapt to how the game is going. When you see the highlights though you will see it was a second yellow for Kaba. Thats the only thing you are wrong about here which is understandable if you were at the game
I don't usually leave games early but I was disgusted with that first half performance. I know we have never really played well in first halves this season in general but today was a new low. Yes we did start well, moved the ball around and looked comfortable and it was going fine. But as soon as we concede the towel is thrown in the bin and heads drop. From the 45 mins I did see, Moss (referee) was a pillock. At least two of their challenges deserved a card and he gave nothing. The second goal was a penalty from what it looked like but was it really worth a card? I don't know. Gracia looked dumb-founded and unable to look like he had a plan B today. Personally, I think we have been found out already. The system isn't working anymore and he is not likely to change it. Capoue had a stinker today and Peyera didn't do much. When the third one went in, I was done. I hope we improved overall second half but I doubt it. So, what can you put it down to? Bad day at the office? Maybe, but as others have pointed out, this has been the tactic for the past four games now and he had Chabolah on the bench. Why not bring him on? A piece of magic and it could of been 3-1 at HT and game on. It's not panic stations yet, it's only October thank god. That was a early Halloween performance that is for sure. Gracia needs to bring them back early monday and look back at that game. It was poor - and that's putting it mildly. I won't mention Bournemouth at all, because I want to focus on us. Anyone could of beaten us today. It was unacceptable and the players need to know that. Gracia needs to get a response after the IB and we go again at Wolves. Difficult game again, but anything like today and we're in for a serious slump with little way out.
I didn't see an even game before they scored, we spent 10 minutes huffing and puffing and not really getting anywhere, they were organised, sharp, quick into the tackle, and had 2 or 3 really quick dangerous breaks.
That was all they had though. You can say we should have seen it coming but I'm not buying the bournmouth were tremendous guff about the muff.
