This is probably going to return and bite me on the arse: I've never really forgiven Southgate for two crimes against the English people: "that" penalty miss and "that" Pizza advert BUT I've just seen his post-match interview and my burning hatred for the man is starting to cool.
I thought we were poor, nothing wrong with that and while we deserved to win the final scoreline ultimately reflects just how bad Panama were in that first half. Again dont think there's anything with that statement. At the end of the day as long as we win thats all that matters. I will not however be sucked into the over reaction this scoreline will cause
I think we can’t win. Defence and goalie still look suspect to me any pressure and they fold and they have some errors in them
I don’t think we can win it but I think Southgate has won already. Team look pumped and playing for each other. They have urgency and pace. A massive improvement on previous tournaments. Well done Southgate come what may.
He's miserable permanently so there's no point reasoning with him. I thought we were excellent, and dealt with Panama's rough treatment very well It's unfortunately ingrained In people to be permanently miserable about how England perform
The squad as it stands is a quarter final squad, Thursday will be the first real test and to an extent the result won't really matter, as the last group to complete their matches we would know what potential route through the competition lay ahead. Whether we win or come second in the group, I don't see anything in the group H that would concern me, so that's why I think we could reach the quarter final.
The S*n will have page upon page of how Raheem (can't help but call him Worrell) Sterling missed that point blank header from the worked free-kick which lead to Stones scoring his second.
That's probably the backup if whatever sting operation or papped photo nonsense they've got lined up doesn't pay off in time.
I know it was only Panama and I shouldn't overreact but England might just be the best football team off all time.
I notice a lot of yours. They tend to offer nothing other than attention seeking quips that offer no value. Just an observation, one I think I'm not alone in thinking
Colombia showing what they can do with 11 men - been excellent against a very poor Poland side . Be a real threat to England if we play them and they are on form.
Colombia v England would be a great game imo. Two attacking teams. Bring it on. If either team loses it would be no disgrace.
As good as Colombia have been, Poland have been absolutely dire. Their passing has been among the worst in the tournament so far. Awful and fully deserved to be going home. So bad in fact they should forfeit their final game and order an Uber right now and leave without showering or changing.
Jesse Lingard in SHOCK surgery admission on EVE of CRUCIAL fixture A top England footballer today admitted to having cosmetic surgery just hours before a key world cup fixture. In a post-match interview Lingard, 23, admitted to undergoing a cutting-edge surgical procedure to make his face look like a rat smelling a warm fart on a crowded bus. Though Lingard claimed the surgery had been performed to 'give the team a competitive advantage', figures within the England setup are fearful that opposition players will be driven to extremes due to the irritation that his face may cause.
It's really good to see the mixture of fans that most nations, but especially the South and Central American ones bring to the tournament. All ages, both genders. Very vibrant and it makes for a brilliant atmosphere at the matches and in the cities.
