You think the going rate for André Gray is £18m?
That was his coming rate  and if you think you can sell him for £18m then Gino should hire you as you are truly a magician.

Just looked at your long list of players to be discarded this summer. Never heard of most of them and doubt you will get your money back. You might need that 1 million from Barca to get Joe Allen from Stoke. Your fans are seriously up themselves at the moment. It will be interesting to see if Everton match say Wolves or West Ham in spending this summer. We are obviously not in your league so why don't you go and plague some real rival like the Arsenal.

  7. Rooney and Williams are the only players I’ve ever heard of

Reads more like a Rochdale squad - no offence to Rochdale intended

Getting our money back isn't really the issue in all honesty. Our shocking recruitment over the last two years has meant that our wage bill is now massive and gives us no wiggle room (owing to FFP, STCC and the like) to increase it

It's no coincidence that, on £160k per week, our top earner Rooney will be the first one out of the door. Closely followed by £120k per week Morgan Schneiderlin

We also have a squad of 38 players, which is unmanageable

I would expect to see us sell more players than we bring in, the net spend isn't actually all that important, it's about bringing the wage bill down so that we can add a few quality players as Walsh left us with some utter dross.

I think there's a fair chance that West Ham or (in particular) Wolves might outspend us this season.

Bit unnecessary. He’s been a decent fan of another club giving us insights. He’s never been on his high-horse and has been complimentary about our club whilst still showing he supports his own. Let’s not turn this into something along the lines of the Everton forum....

Another example of the crazy mismanagement of the last couple of years

That's a lad with a lot of talent, but Allardyce and Koeman didn't trust him, so he barely played

Then, understandably, he wanted to go out on loan - Allardyce wanted him to go to Derby, Lookman wanted to go abroad - Lookman pushed the Leipzig loan and we accepted

Lookman has shone in Germany and now, it's believed he fancies staying there so is going to push for a permanent move

It's infuriating because one of the few real talents that Walsh managed to bring in is probably going to be lost as a result of the pair of biffs we've had managing us

The stupidest bit of the Lookman going to RBL story is that Allardyce was incredulous that Lookman had chosen to go abroad instead Derby, because he couldn’t speak German - believing football is played by speech and not feet. The fact RBL have a great record and put emphasis on youth was lost on him - while he signed Cenk Tosun, who while decent, probably knew little to no English!

As an aside, I hope to see more youngsters push to do what Lookman and Sancho have done. If it’s clear that your route to regular PL football is blocked by foreign imports, go abroad and play somewhere else. If they don’t, they’ll be in their mid-to-late 20’s before they know it and they’ll be Ross Barkley. Sure the money helps soften that blow but I think there may be an era of kids who actually want to play football over money coming through, realising the money will come if they play well. As opposed to being paid well just to be stockpiled and not go elsewhere. Loftus-Cheek will be next.

    Anyway, back to Everton’s clearout...

I enjoyed reading that. It's clear Everton are being run by clueless people. Moshiri is trying to get rid of the rubbish he spent millions on. Already he's made a lot of expensive mistakes. Now he's had his fingers burnt, as was always going to be the case, he's going the other way. I wonder how long it will be before Silva starts complaining about not getting his targets!

The way he acted in chasing after Silva, showed absolutely no concept of humility. I'm sure he's ruthless in the business world, and it works in that environment, but the world of football is different. You cannot make enemies at every turn. What he did to Watford was not personal. We just had a coach he wanted, so he made it happen....eventually. But that makes enemies. You cannot conduct your business in football like this. Sure he might have won the battle with getting Silva, but eventually it will all unravel and fall apart. You cannot get away with running a football club in this way. Dumping on anyone or anything that gets in your way.

To me Moshiri doesn't seem to understand this. He's in love with Silva right now, and thinks he's the best coach on the planet. I'm sure Silva shares that view also. But delusional people usually get what they deserve. I'm quite confident it will all go wrong very quickly at Everton.

I do agree that TB9 makes more sense than some of our own posters and is knowledgeable about Everton. I did not want to be so rude but would prefer he returns when there is some hard news on the Silva tapping up complaint.

Why? He’s the type of opposition fan that is most welcome here for me. He’s realistic about his own team (which a few more of them could learn from...) is fairly complimentary about ours, can take a joke and give one back without it coming to anything. It’s the close-season, there’s little happening so any discussion is welcome to me!

I think you're right, but maybe see Moshiri as being more influential in some of this than he has been

Moshiri has provided a capital injection and appointed people he saw as qualified to make football decisions - in the first instance this was Koeman as a manager and Steve Walsh as Director of Football. He's had very little input into anything other than the choice of personnel. Now, he's blundered hugely here, but that's really all you can lay at his door.

Koeman was a disastrous appointment, but maybe an understandable one to a degree, but Walsh was a Grade A nightmare of a choice - he had never been a Director of Football before and was appointed because he was the man most directly responsible for the Mahrez, Kante and Vardy signings and Leicester had just won the league. Both very "flavour of the month" appointments, but he had been 3rd choice after "real" Director of Footbal targets Monchi (then at Sevilla) and Marcel Brands turned us down

Since then, Koeman proved to be a Dutch Sam Allardyce and why have the Dutch one when you can have the real, Gravy-swilling, Brexit-loving original himself? Again, Allardyce was an understandable appointment given the circumstances, but just highlighted the lack of a credible plan from those people Moshiri entrusted to make decisions

So, this summer we've effectively started all over again, and it'll take a while to get right (if they do actually get it right). Any Evertonian who tells you they think Everton can finish higher than 7th next season is most likely sniffing glue (do people still do that?)

All Evertonians ever wanted from an owner was to provide enough resources to enable us to try to compete at a higher level. Moshiri has done that, what he hasn't done is make any good footballing appointments to turn that money into results yet. Prior to him, Kenwright did little better and is only seen by the wider footballing world as a good chairman because he made a good managerial appointment in David Moyes which led to a decade of stability (to the outside world).

I'm far happier about the Marcel Brands appointment than I am the Silva one because Brands at least has a track record in the role and longevity. Silva could well be another flavour of the month appointment, but Brands has signed off on it, so that's at least slightly encouraging.

Some nice things said about me on here today. I'm touched, not in a Yewtree way or anything. I'll whack a bit of Elton John on later in a private mark of respect

All well and good and largely agreeable. The thing is though - Moshiri has shown a big lack of football understanding so far from what I can see. Walsh/Koeman, whomever....the money didn’t come out of their pockets. A prudent owner who knows his stuff still keeps a tight reign on the ship and those working below him.

And more to the point is that, for us, it wasn’t Walsh who came so aggressively for Silva. It was Moshiri. It’s all been said previously but it depends on morals. Not necessarily yourself, but it seems the majority of EFC fans think that the ends have justified the means, and because Liverpool did it over VVD and it’s likely happened other times away from public, that it’s okay. Where as, without painting ourselves as some kind of moral enforcers, we do have a bit of a sense of what’s right and wrong about this situation.

I think if Moshiri wants to get Everton to the top, he’ll need to learn far more about football than he currently knows and recognise he’ll need friends to get up there and not a succession of enemies he’s needlessly stepped on. Any Watford fan will tell you - and none of us own PL clubs so our knowledge should be less than Moshiri’s in that respect - that if EFC has dropped their interest after the first, maybe second rebuttal, appointed BFS far sooner - and then came calling this summer, it’s almost certain you’d have still got your man. And there may well have been less question marks about him too.

Moshiri’s actions were a disgrace and for my money, although I know it won’t happen as the PL seem unbelievably weak on the issue, he should have the book thrown at him.

I was a bit harsh with you earlier...So apologies for that. You are definitely a favourite on here as you are pretty eloquent and don't take offence easily. I do think Everton will start to improve from now on, despite rather than because of Silva. But it is likely going to be a long term project. As for us happy to get a bit more stability and gradually improve our squad.

Actually, I'm not sure we will

We've finished 7th and 8th in the last two seasons - every club outside the top six would be happy with that.

To close the gap on the top six will probably take ages (if it can be achieved at all), so I don't actually expect us to improve on the last two years at all anytime soon from a league perspective - all I'm expecting is the football to improve and to do better in the transfer market and that's actually a matter of perspective
