Welcome Ben. First of many......hopefully. A good young English centre half. A very positive signing. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/16248616.Hornets_complete_Wilmot_capture/
https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/first-team/official-watford-sign-wilmot Not a lot of flesh on the bones of the deal but there he is. Welcome aboard!
Looks like he's already a proud hornet. https://twitter.com/BenWilmot33 Really buzzing and immensely proud to have signed for @WatfordFC. It’s the stuff that dreams are made of. Massive thanks to everyone who has made this happen. The hard work doesn’t stop and can’t wait for pre-season and cracking on!
Great we have signed a local talent - helping another Herts team. Much rather this than spend a fortune on Alfie Mawson or similar player. Obviously beat a few rivals for his signature. Hope he gets an opportunity with the first team over the next two seasons.
Welcome young man. Best of luck to you. Its the first indication of what's to happen and Andy Scott I hope.
Hopefully he is good. The rate at which our defenders get injured suggests he could play quite a few games next year.
Good business. Always knew Sky sources would be right in the end. Just a shame Sky sources were wrong though.
Can't say I've watched him myself but word on twitter from those 'ITK' was that he will be involved with the first team this season.
Yep the medical team must be relishing the opportunity of fresh meat. Better than tough old stuff they have been fed recently.
Not sure if this was posted when he was first linked but a decent insight into what he might bring to the table: www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/football-league/ben-wilmot-interview-england-u19-rise-and-rise-bucking-the-trend-a8265681.html%3famp
Surely a loan to a champ club next season ? Can't go straight from div 2 to starting in the prem surely. Good investment for the future.
Think there' value in him being around the 1st team squad and being under a higher quality of coaching than L2, then maybe loan out for 2nd half of the season
He can if he’s as highly rated as we are told. I’m not against it but it shouldn’t be our first thought. He should be brought in and allowed the same clean slate as everyone else on day one of pre-season.
Something that stands out in that article is that he played in midfield well in to his teenage years. Might we finally have a defender that's comfortable on the ball?
I might adopt the 'Mad Bloke Behind Me Principle'* and give him thirty seconds before I lambast him! *Known sometimes as the 'Capoue Factor'.
