http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-agree-deal-to-sign-ben-wilmot-from-stevenage There you go. SSN has now read The Sun and 'understands' the deal is done.
I can't see them forking out anywhere near what Fulham are wanting though. Fulham have said they want £50m, an obvious high-ball. Let's say Fulham would take £35m, that would rank #2 on Tottenham's biggest transfers (after Davinson Sanchez at 42m who has achieved a lot more, at a much higher level than Sessegnon).
What other 17 year old wing back has scored 19 goals in 57 games in the Championship? Can you name a better prospect?
The time to get Maddison was when he went to Norwich. We'll stand no chance now, he's too high profile and will cost too much. Same as Sessegnon. We are not going to enter bidding wars with other Premier League clubs for the two biggest English talents in the Championship.
In truth, I hope he goes nowhere and Fulham get promoted. Where most looked at Mitrovic and saw a problem, Jokanovic saw a solution. A fine manager who could well create a side that surpasses Watford, just like Dyche did.
Don't get me wrong, he's a stellar player and one I'm a huge fan of. I simply can't see Spurs spending that amount of money on someone so young, the business they've done previously shows that they aren't that sort of club.
They paid £7m for Gareth Bale 10 years ago. With the general inflation of transfer fees since then I would have thought an equivalent fee now would be £30-40m.
Quite possibly, but with Ben Davies in great form and Danny Rose as a backup (I imagine Poch will try to fix their relationship over the summer) - it's hard to see where Sessegnon will fit into the first team, combined with Spurs new stadium to pay for and I'd imagine Levy will be holding the purse-strings quite tightly. Unless Rose is sold along with Alderweireld which may very well happen. But even then I'd imagine Spurs would go for someone cheaper and more proven.
https://twitter.com/SkySportsNews/status/983747034317500416 Errmmmmm.... He's not coming here after all.
http://www.thecomet.net/stevenage-f...-rated-stevenage-starlet-ben-wilmot-1-5470889 Sounds like we're about to be gazumped by Liverpool... Oh well, makes a change from losing out to Bournemouth.
This would be very disappointing if true. Hope it isn't. Sometimes you need to speculate a little. And where does it leave Scott ? £1.5M for a top prospect is nothing these days especially if he does pan out.
The problem is that the club's communication is ******* dreadful, so us fans are left to fill in the gaps ourselves. It's also more fun.
The reason he was omitted from the Stevenage squad last week is due to being abducted by Gino. This is exactly part of the transfer equation that needs solving. We missed out Maguire (I wrote to the club about him) and others.
Is he coming or not ? Mepham and Ajer would be the Everest of defences.... I give up. Do we have a decent scouting network or not ? Two Wilmots for the price of a clown. Never even checked Tagliafico for LB/CB. Beggars belief. £3.5M only.
Deal undone according to Sky, who quote a Watford spokesman saying we're not interested: http://www.skysports.com/football/n...nded-by-watford-following-stevenage-valuation
I still think it's on. Nixon doesn't get a lot wrong and he says Watford haven't told Stevenage the deal is off at all. Plus looking at the Stevenage forum there is a post saying that a director at the club has said it's still on, admittedly there's nothing to back that up. On top of all this Sky and their 'sources' must be the worst in the game at getting things right. Either way at the very least the club sound like they're looking for young lower league talent which can only be a good thing.
You mean the same Sky that said it was on this morning and off this afternoon? Who are part of the same media empire as The Sun who 'never wrong nixon' works for? Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow!
