https://www.fotbollskanalen.se/alls...er-league-flytt---lamnar-blavitt-for-watford/ Here's another report. I think this could be a shrewd bit of business. Apparently he's signed a 5 year deal for £3.5m and will be loaned back to Gothenburg for the rest of the season. I don't think they like us much.
You're presuming the signing and immediate loaning back of an 18 year old Swedish goalkeeper won't inspire the rest of our squad to an upturn in form?
The article is not saying that Watford are the idiot club but IFK G*teborg, it says that Pontus wants to stay and get game time and if he does not developed at Watford it is their fault
Supposedly Sweden's brightest goalkeeping prospect for a while, and we all know Sweden are renowned for their goalkeepers...
Yes but doesn't make them or their keepers any good given our standard ! Plus We may well have failed to beat Iran over the same period ?
I honestly don't understand why anyone would be negative over this deal. He is obviously a good keeper but how good is obviously not clear yet, as he is still young for a keeper. But we are paying a pretty low fee. We are laughing if he proves to be great keeper, and somewhat disappointed if he doesn't. But he seems a grounded young man with obvious potential and I think he is the sort of player we should be after. What on earth is the problem?
I’m just gutted we didn’t sign him in the summer so we could get him in the Watford calander. The ladies would’ve gone beserk for it.
Spot on. I'd actually like to see the club continue in this vein and seek some outfield youth talent too. I know we have a fair few on loan in sunny Spain but it's not clear how soon any of them will be ready to pick up a work permit and come and play here. It would be good to get some EU or even British talent into the squad as the youth academy conveyor belt seems to be broken or mothballed.
That is plain to see, but he'll still end up with some stunner on his arm (obviously because he's a great person).
For a Swedish bloke he is not the norm, compared to their neighbors in Finland, the Swedes are just so much more beautiful and superior in every way. Don't know what happened here. Maybe teenage puberty, will be a stunner real soon.
Whilst obviously not putting him in the same bracket - yet! - I remember when a young David De Gea came over to replace Van Der Sar at United and thinking he was far too young and skinny to ever be a top GK. How wrong that was! I think this could be a great move if he is as highly rated as suggested and this was the best move GK-wise the club could have made. Bring him in over the summer and have him and Gomes battle it out for one last season before Dahlberg takes over fully and Gomes retires. I was never keen on the idea of bringing in an ageing replacement for Gomes.
I agree. I spent a weekend in stockholm and while the women were beauties, it was the men who had me drooling. Fantastic hair, tall, chiseled jaws and somehow they all have lovely tans too. They truly are the master race.
Interesting that this post was liked by posters based in Norway and Finland. Those Scandis are an equable bunch, aren’t they? Can’t imagine us being so generous to the French and Germans (or they to us).
I reckon this could be one of those unannounced transfers we seem to enjoy doing. Usually we don't bother announcing when certain players leave but this could be the first time we don't announce an incoming and he just turns up for pre-season training.
Official now. Signed on a 5 and a half year deal. Will be loaned back to Gothenburg for the rest of this season. A very good signing. https://www.watfordfc.com/club/official-dahlberg-deal-done
Ron Walker @ronnabe 3h3 hours ago Not sure. No word in Sweden either. Think it may be off. Just a reminder that the Observer is not a reliable source.
