Genuine question - if he walked over to The Rookery, lifted his hands in some kind of gesture to signal an apology, would you have applauded him off?
Just needed to place it either side or over the keeper.. Sign of a lack of confidence to just blast it.
"Leave Gray Alone" is the title of this thread. Few realise this was also the advice Gino had until the late departed Luke Dowling persuaded the club otherwise. Shame that. Coincidence?
If the team as a whole stayed for even a brief moment I'd like to say now that a minor clap would have been sufficient although I was spitting fire at the time it probably would have ended up being abuse.
I don't think there will ever be any sort of connection between the fans and Gray now, no matter what he does. Whilst I reckon he would perform better with a strike partner, we'll probably never get to find out. Our system doesn't suit him and he doesn't possess the qualities we need from a lone striker.
It's Marco's fault for playing him out of position. I admit it's not immediately obvious what position he should be played in, but it sure as f*** isn't as a striker. Midfielder? No. Defender? Can't see it. Goalkeeper? Too small. Even if he dressed up as Harry the Hornet I wouldn't trust him not to pi$$ off the fans by cupping his ear. Tannoy announcer? Pwogwam seller?
I disagree, if he scores even 2 winning goals between now and the end of the season I'll be cheering his name with all my heart.
Gray is a moderate Championship striker and you have to blame the recruitment process for paying a small fortune for him. It is not the guy`s fault for settling for a large pay day - so in these circumstances just cut our losses and sell him at whatever cost. The only redeeming feature is that we did an `old Pal a favour` in allowing Burnley to buy a striker.
To be fair to Gray he hit the target. That’s an improvement on normal. Unfortunately he forgot to hit it either side of the keeper.
He would have scored too had it been one of those virtual reality keepers. He's got to lay off FIFA18.
I'm as frustrated about Gray as anyone but hammering him for everything isn't going to help him. Neither Deeney or Okaka would have scored that chance against swansea - why because they wouldn't have made the run like Gray did because they are target men. Grays first touch was spot on and he hit it well but he was close to the goal and fabianski raced off his line really well. Anyone see Morata v Stoke - everyone says Butland made great saves not that moratta messed it up.... what about Vardy against us on Boxing Day or Salah who has missed loads of chances recently for Liverpool and he's got away with it because he gets 5 or 6 chances a match where Gray doesn't. Aguero has missed a few recently too. While we are at it Richarlison has missed plenty recently too. All strikers miss - at least Gray isn't hiding he's trying to make the runs to keep getting in there to score and he puts the effort in - he needs a bit of luck - his chance was far harder than the open goal Deeney missed v palace or cleverly's penalty miss v Everton. Is Gray good enough - on the evidence so far, no .... but with some support and a bit of confidence - he might turn the corner in the new year and bag 6-7 goals - he one of our players now let's get behind him and all the lads as during tough times it's when we can make the difference and lift the team COYH
Probably doesn't help he cost 18 million and once played for Luton (with some fans potentially) You are right to point out many players miss chances but some of those have scored a high number of goals too... I thought at the start he was a bit unlucky playing in games against top teams like Man C or when we had 10 men v Brighton but even Silva questioned him a bit in recent games. As you say doesn't help we have other strikers either not liked by the manager or suspended most of the time.
Fair play to him- after his dream move to us and pictured at our ground so thats why 2017 was such a good year plus saying he will work (even) harder next year
The poor clod can't even find the banjo to hit the cow's bottom. Hopes of him receiving the Complete Works of Neville Gwynne for Christmas seem slim to the point of non existent you'd think?
Fed up with all the negativity on this thread. How about something useful. Here is a video masterclass for Gray to see how to tuck away that chance vs Swans
From the perspective of his bank balance, it probably couldn't have gone much better. I dread to think what his weekly wage is.
Hmm... How does Gray look in pink? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...s-Little-Mix-girlfriend.html#comments-5190397
You mean they actually left the house looking like that? I thought it was just a shot of them goofing around at home and even then i thought they looked like a pair of *****!
Not a fan of the hashtag #AG18 at the end of his tweet, very narcissistic. I hope he doesn’t go around talking about himself in the third person too.
Yawn. Can you call me back when Deeney's played half the amount of time Gray has.... No probs if you prefer Gray, but what a silly argument.
Very err, mature and intelligently argued point there. Especially the part where you completely ignored most of my argument. Also, I'm calling you back, because, if we take a quick glance at the clock, it's that time right now. Gray has played 1,036 minutes in the league, whilst Troy has played 629 minutes. So, in fact, more than half. Troy's points per match is 0.92. Gray's is 1.1. I'm no great worshipper of Gray, I'd rather we had a better striker than either of them to rely on. But that doesn't change the obvious facts telling us that we have been more effective with Gray playing instead of Deeney.
