You actually miss this? I was given one by mistake once instead of a "McDonalds Cola" back when they didn't do proper coke. Tasted like what I imagine the brownish water in a cleaners wheelie mop bucket would taste like.

 

Do they still sell beer in German McDonalds?

 

I remember Wimpy did a veggie burger. It was delicious, better than the normal burgers.

 

Yep that's the stuff.

 

Speaking of which, they used to have Wimpy bars everywhere. There are a lot fewer now than there once were. I never frequented regularly, but it was a staple of the itineraries of the classmates' birthday parties I went to when I was a kid at school.

 

Do they still exist? I thought they had long since gone.

 

Still about. One in Eastcote and another in Ruislip. Both still sell the Bender in a Bun.

Whatever happened to the old BBC test cards? I was having a conversation with my brother about them. I guess they met their demise when BBC went digital, but for me, the test cards (particularly Test Card F) were a forgotten staple of British culture, on a par with red telephone boxes and complaining about people behind their backs.

Oh yes, Test Card F was a genuine classic.

...and those star shaped flash animations between each of the adverts on ITV.

What ever happened to them?

...and colour test films on BBC 2, usually a short film of somewhere like Capri or Trieste. Gave me the taste for travel.

 

Interesting fact: you see the girl is playing Noughts and Crosses? That was quite deliberate; the 'cross' on the blackboard is meant to indicate the centre of the screen. I always thought it was just a random picture.

 

Looks a bit lower than centre.

It looks a bit to the "right" of centre too. Might explain why they got rid.

Texan bars, used to love them, was in Ulster about 10 years ago and they were selling them.

Forgot what they were called but cadburys round balls of Chocolate with a hard shell and Bovril flavoured crisps
