They all congregated outside the ground to shout abuse to their fans and manager after the game . You would have loved it Clive
I've used up my whole season of bump allocations on this one thread . Where is the faith boys and girls ? We looked pretty decent in first half . Don't get the negativity at all .
3-4-3 wasn't working which is why he changed back to 4-3-3 which is when we actually carried a threat.
We looked ok for the first maybe 20 mins. then Arsenal started to over run us Gray wasn't keeping hold of anything, wasn't running behind, Doucoure and Cleverley were being overloaded, we looked slow and ponderous, poor in transition - 343 wasn't working When we changed to 4231/433 and made the substitutions it completely changed the game and from that point on only one team was going to win it
It was a strange game. Watford showed far too much respect in the first half and were timid to a degree. The goal we conceded was another poor one from Arsenal's first corner. We had Cleverely marking Mertesacker, so it was no surprise the big German scored. This sort of marking has to be sorted out as it is our Achilles. The usual taunts of "you've only come to see the Arsenal" followed. I'm surprised they didn't sing "you'll never play here again" which is another of their superiority chants. I don't think the formation and personnel really helped Watford in the first half as we caused very few problems. I'm pleased Silva decided to take off Gray, who has so far been lucky to hold down a first team spot. Deeney transformed the game with his "rough em up" style. He made all the difference and swung the game Watford's way. Arsenal suddenly had to defend. The ball stayed up there when Watford pressed, and we were able to build attacks. A football match isn't won in 45 minutes, most games are tight and you have to present problems at different stages. This game went that way. We rode our luck at times. Iwobi brought out a wonderful save from Gomes and Ozil missed a sitter. However, we were still in it and Deeney's introduction turned the game on its head. We were strong and asking lots of questions of the Arsenal defence. Once we equalised we took control. Another late goal finish. I can't remember Watford ever scoring so many late result changing goals before. We've scored equalisers or winners in 4 of our 8 games, which is extraordinary. 6 points extra from late goals. That's like two extra wins, which is massive after just 8 games. One last thing, Neil Swarbrick officiated the game very well. It's so refreshing to get a referee who actually gives correct decisions throughout the game, instead of appeasing the bigger side. Well done to him for that.
I guess it's a sign of how far we ve come that the fact they we only competed with Arsenal in the first half rather than dominating them , is cause for complaint .
It's a simple fact of life that teams like Arsenal are going to control periods of the game, regardless of formation. I can't say I see what people's problem is.
I never had you down as a shoutbox hero LTC68 . So I'm sorry to see that your negativity was unfounded . I will endeavour to not highlight it any further this season . I guess Robbie Savages half time rant influenced your opinion too much .
Competing is a bit strong, I would say it was more 2 flat teams with one carrying more of a threat. I couldn't see us scoring in the first half, whereas they created a few chances.
I thought we looked superb for most of the game (watched on tv) , I think we have some absoloutly stunning players (Pereyra). I watched on Canadian TV and they were so complemtary about watford , then watched on match of the day how the **** did they cut it so Arsenal looked better than us, we spent most of the match all over them
Gotta love Wrighty... Ian Wright Retweeted John Agha You continue worrying about a player diving. Meanwhile Xhaka stands and watches Cleverly score the winner . ****head. John Agha @JhornHigher Replying to @BBCMOTD It's a shame these days how pundits sit down and make inconsistent blabs due to bias. 'He went down too easily' is same as simulation.
I agree , you re right . Can someone who has contacts at the club , please hook up Gags with Silva, so he can teach him about tactical formations . That way Silva wont make any more mistakes in the future when playing the top teams in the country.
On an aside , it's a testament to how poor the football commentary is in this country is , when the Sky boys spend the whole time debating a penalty decision , instead of taking about tactics , game play etc . Totally different presentation of football to the way they do in Europe and even the US.
Game plan? ... actually not tongue in cheek, you'd be surprised how easy it is to 'throw the opposition' I'll even bet Silva learned this from Morinho (when he was good)
not as many as me- tee hee .... Bro in law next door, mad Dynamo fan below and Sat afternoons/evenings footie is becoming a thing ..... there's a good chance a 4th crate will be hit shortly. You don't need money to enjoy nights like these
Thoroughly enjoyable ! Would have happily taken a point at 5.30, but would have been disappointed with that as the second half wore on. No doubt contact for the penalty was 'minimal', but as Danny Murphy said on MoTD, Wenger would have been shouting for it to be given if that had been at the other end. Nothing special about them at all this season, they'll be battling it out with Liverpool for 5th spot at best.
Thought the bearded bloke came across quite well. I'd wager you could add together the IQs of the Arsenal fans interviewed by the channel and they still wouldn't come close to Beardy's. Blud.
Arsenal fan tv has been great viewing for me tonight. Lots of laughs and never gets old. At least some of them admitted we were the better team and deserved to win.
Everyone else has crashed hours ago but I'm still buzzing, no chance of sleep yet. Thank fck it's Sunday tomorrow so I can catch a few zzzz's Highlights ... http://www.fullmatchesandshows.com/2017/10/14/watford-vs-arsenal-highlights/2/
Very late to the party tonight. Couldn't see the game live, but managed to avoid the result and watch the BT sport recording. As far as the performance goes, I echo what most people on here have said regarding the change of formation which didn't really suit us. But none-the-less, the lads pulled it out the bag again. What a time to be a Watford fan - I hope we all appreciate what we're currently seeing! Everything regarding the match has been covered by you all, so pointless me regurgitating what's already been said. Therefore - I'll use this post to absolutely slam the disgraceful coverage from the morons at BT. Steve McManaman - actually criticised Silva in the first half for wanting to play "pretty" football when he "should just go long". That's right Steve - abandon your whole philosophy because 45 minutes of football hasn't seen you destroy the opposition. How did your scousers get on this afternoon again?? In the studio at the end, he said we were poor, and only had a good half hour. You can't make this stuff up. BT's witch hunt against Richarlison was absolutely disgusting. Talking as if he'd thrown himself to the floor theatrically without contact. A myth perpetuated by that utter **** Graham Poll. Easy decision for the panel? Retrospective ban? Absolute ********. It was a 50/50 decision and 100% there was contact. When you do Bellerin for speed, you're moving pretty damn fast. I was genuinely astonished and livid at what I was hearing. Had that been one of England's "superstars", the only comments during/after would have been "there's contact, he's entitled to go down, great forward play. Having now seen the MOTD analysis (and I feared the worst) - even Wrighty said Wenger would be claiming the penalty at the other end. Exactly. It's the kind of tight decision that the big clubs have been getting for years. The sheep have been out in force on twitter labelling Richarlison a diver because of that piss poor coverage by BT. He won't be banned I'm sure - but the label of diver will be stuck to him now, making it much more difficult for him to get future decisions. As you can tell, it's really wound me up being as what should have all been about another great, late win, has been hijacked because the bias fools in the media hate to see one of the "big 6" get their pants pulled down. Glad to get that off my chest!! What a great win. What a great bunch of lads. What a top manager we have. COYH!! Now enjoy a selection of pics I've gathered from numerous sources
I wouldn't say it was getting lobbed up to him, Gray should be playing on the shoulder using his pace and gambling with movement in and around the box. Never saw that from him today, and against that German passenger he should of been more up for it. I'll put it down as a bad day for him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If these two aren't Gooners in the Rookery, then they're lucky they look too young to have watched Watford during the 90's (pre GT's return), because if they aren't happy after this moment then the dross served up by Lee/Perryman/Roeder would have killed them
Hi hi ARSENAL owners must be dreaming about Silva right now... Good signing to u guys. He's a top coach.
Come on the pundits you get on Canadian tv would give a team from Sesame Street credit, don't get me wrong it's nice to hear some pundits being positive for teams out the big six. But Danny ****io Craig Forrest and that AJ bloke ( who has never played the game ) are not really worth listening to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
