Why doesnt the result matter? We compete for 3 trophies a season. Is the league cup too tinpot for us (a team that has never won a single thing ever) then?

One of the most peculiar things I've seen posted on here.

I must admit I hadn't thought about the extra injury danger from "cloggers" from lower leagues which is a fair point. I am less convinced about the newer/less fit players but I am much less in touch than others on here about current practice so you may very well be right.

If you and TomH could just give me your £1.50, you'd be no worse off in a few months time and I will be £1.50 better off.

My point (like several others have made) is that the league is massively more important. The financial reward difference between winning the league cup and remaining in the PL is about 290 million over three years.

Exactamente. At this early stage, 3 points on Saturday is worth more than a cup run. Get through these early rounds with a few of the peripheral squad while picking up valuable points in the league and hit the cup hard in 2 months if we are on 20+ points and can risk an injury or 2 or player tiredness.

In your promotion season in 14/15 (YES PROMOTION SEASON) you averaged 16.664. Last season in our relegation battle, we averaged 18.486.
You know what, you averaged only 2000 more than us last season and you're in the PREM! If we ever reached that level, I'd expect we'd be pushing 27,000.
But don't let that get in the way of your mighty Watford ideology.

but who gives a **** about 290 million over three years? Isn't the ultimate aim to win trophies?

You people would rather finish 17th in the premier league than win a cup. What a miserable mindset.

With so much instability and upheaval over the last few years, it is important to create the foundations of a solid established premier league team which I/we hope is now in place.

Of course we all want to win trophies, but we need to secure the club's position before blindly throwing all caution to the wind for the league cup.

Maybe it will happen this year, but would rather see us safe this year and maybe push on for a cup run next year.

Who really cares what them up the road think any more?

Do other clubs forums not have a load sarcastic posts like this one? Every time an opposition fan turns up on here they think everybody on here is being serious!

Are lower-league cloggers better at it than elite cloggers?

It's only 3 wins to get to the Semi Finals of the League Cup. Hardly the definition of throwing caution to the wind is it?

But how long do we wait? Is playing a strong team versus brizzle ****** really throwing all caution to the wind??

The pozzo's could pack up at any time and this golden era would come to an abrupt halt. It is inevitable this will happen and we will sink back down at some point. Every time we put out a weakened team and crash out the cup is a wasted opportunity, if you ask me.

I guess I understand it from the club owners perspective, but as supporters winning trophies is the ultimate dream isn't it? It makes me sad people have no sense of romance when it comes to football any more. We've all become hard-faced accountants.

And I care what those ****s up the road think! I want to eliminate all those measures which they beat us on (and there are a lot sadly!)

We used to have a three-sided ground. Come to think of it, yours used to be pretty rubbish last time I went, though I know you've got a big new stand now.

Bristol is a nice city - and a lot bigger than Watford. But your team isn't (bigger that is - I'll reserve judgement on its niceness until tonight).

I like it because when they come on here, it often ends up with them opening a topic on their own forum which involves them raging and calling us "tinpot" and "****". Always funny because they think they're actually offending us when they are just repeating the stuff we said sarcastically about them

Say we won but lost Chalobah and Richarlison to injury tonight. Happy with that or better not to risk it?

I think it's a shame it has taken us til the 3rd season in this league to get to a point where we actually feel we may be stronger and more secure within the team and manager to think of going more all out for a cup.

Had we been here at the start of last season then maybe it would be better this season.

Also if our aim is to move further up the league and into European places over the next few years then a win in a cup will help with that mindset I would think

Tbf I didn't realise that Bristol City were in the Championship. It really is a golden time in their otherwise unimpressive history so they're bound to get good crowds right now.

I suspect that they will drop off again when go back to their more traditional lower league level.

3 stands vs 4. You won't need to use your extra fingers to count to 4 now so you have no excuse.

Nope. go and look at them. Rare to find any real sarcasm/irony about status. Usually very po faced and focused game discussions focus on what players fans think will play and why the manager is *****

  24. TBH for such a mahussive city it's long past time Bristol had a premier league team. For too long City and Rovers have been badly letting the area down with lower league hoof played on pitches resembling cow fields.

I can't say I've visited each and every club forum but I pop in when Aristophanes wears me down!
I am probably biased but I do feel there is more wit/sarcasm/daftness on here than on most, if not all of the others.
It does seem that opposition fans take each post seriously.

I wouldn't shout about that too much, your catchment area is huge, we have to compete against some of the biggest clubs in Europe, whereas your nearest teams are Rovers, Forest Green, Newport and Yeovil.

Same here. Everyone can remember how they felt at wembley/cardiff when we won the play offs right? It must feel like that x 100.

Relegation wouldnt be so bad anyway, our promotion season was much more fun than any of these years in the premier league.

Admittedly I'd much rather win the fa cup than the league cup. But beggars cant be choosers.
