I know it is early in the season and the transfer window hasn't closed but with the very real threat of Ambrabat leaving we need a new Boo Boy. So Im looking for suggestions before I extend the poll Early contenders for me would include: Tom "basically an English Jurado" Cleverley Andre "meant to be fast, but looks short, homophobic, expensive and an ex-scummer" Gray (his value may rise if he goes a few games without scoring) Miguel "need an upgrade in defence" Britos (The racists sitting around me have already chosen him for some reason) Heurelho "The pensioner Clown" Gomes Jerome "Unlikely to feature except cup games - my dog farts with more power than his shots" Sinclair Capoue
There must be some other contenders :- Isaac Success - because he won't be one Daryl "Pilkington" Janmaat - because he won't spend enough time on the pitch Stefano Okaka - because there's a reason why "kak" appears in his name Mauro Zarate - because some people don't rate him
Regarding Janmaat, I think if someone isn't on the pitch it is hard to be the top Boo Boy. It MIGHT be possible if he comes back a few times before sitting down in a shattered huff in a few games but I think he'll always get the benefit of the doubt that he is actually injured rather than the true Boo Boy criteria of: Always being selected for god knows what reason. Being ***** when they play. Playing negative football. Making mistakes which lead to goals. Being slow and lazy. Running around pointlessly. Not waving at the crowd etc Okaka looked like a monster in the first game so Ill count him out of the early running. Zarate and Success could push for the title but need to get into the first team as a priority Could we do a kick starter for a trophy for the winner?
Sorry, can't see past Andre Gray in this role. Ex-scummer and evidence suggests he at least used to be an unpleasant individual, possibly changed now? Also record signing (not his fault) means he really has to hit the ground running because there are too many reasons to dislike him.
As with all strikers, it will depend on how many GOLES he scores. If he doesn't get many he's got plenty of boo boy qualifications.
Unlike the Ellington disaster even if Gray flops here we'd still be able to sell for a decent price simply because he's home grown
I struggle to see past Amrabat for this season, if he stays, with Kaboul an outside shout. Sinclair certainly has the potential to make it to Top Boo Boy if he keeps developing over the next couple of years, but 17/18 is a bit too soon for him. He and Success will be battling it out for young boo boy of the season though.
Very worried that if Capoue leaves and Ambrabat goes or gets replaced in the first team that the field is left wide open with no, clear, stand out replacement. The Pozzos need to address this otherwise we wont be left with anyone to groan at, half heartedly clap when they are announced or shout ******* hell X when they don't do what we want on the pitch. :-(
I'm not sure that capoue was a full on boo boy in the eyes of the majority of fans. He certainly has potential to be in the same way as he has potential to be a great player. I have accused him of being solar powered. In his defence he scores goals and had his own song - both things that we need encourage and preserve. Amrabat is so last season now. In absence of another option at the moment, I'm gunning for Kaboul. This opinion is liable to change after tomorrow and after Tuesday.
Slight tangent but did people see this from ex boo boy Princess Marv? He and Lloyd Dyer both scored to help Burton beat Brum! https://twitter.com/dbower87/status/898699949600235520
It was like watching a Watford reserve side, especially as it looked like they were wearing one of our old kits
Princess Marv always was and still is a very good player imo, its his mentality which let him down. Doesn't have the mental strength to play under any sort of pressure
Agreed - and a really nice guy too. My daughter and I were in corporate for his last home game where he got MOTM and he spent loads of time with the fans and was really happy to chat, have his photo taken with them and sign stuff. I got the impression from chatting with him and reading between the lines that the move was forced on him by the then club management (you know who!) and he would actually rather have stayed.
We've just beaten divemouth in their own backyard so quite frankly I can't think of a single sole for potential boo-boy.... Except Kabasele. This has potential.
Can I change my vote to Isaac 'lack of' Success now please seeing as Capoue scored so is currently OK again?
Completely unrelated to Boo Boys, But i'd put my money on Richarlison being this seasons top scorer (For us). After the muff game, I reckon Gomes could be the boo boy. Just doesnt seem sharp enough.
