To be fair to the lad, he's played a variety of wing back, centre mid and striker whilst he's been here.

When played as a winger he's been great. What he done to Clucas of Hull was probably one of the best individual performances of the season.

  3. It is fair to say he was absolute poop when he played up front. And I like him.

If there is nobody to cut the ball back to and nobody making runs in to the box who does he cross to. He doesn't, he stops and comes inside, oh hang on, he's being criticised for that as well!

Clucas was out of position. And despite Amrabat having him beaten all ends up he still only got 1 cross into a truly dangerous place (which Deeney missed). Numerous other crosses sailed too high, went into the stands behind the goal or were miles from anyone in yellow.

Yep, I am consistently critical of any player who doesn't put a full shift in. They earn a ****ing fortune, so expecting them to turn up relatively fit pre season, train hard for a few hours a day, and putting 100% effort for 90 or 180 minutes a week, isn't asking too much.

Miles from yellow because there was nobody in yellow to aim for. You watch other sides and their players bust a gut to get in the box, most of ours are not in the final third.

I quite like Amrabat, but I think we probably do need to upgrade as with a lot of positions but he is no where near as bad as some make out but in fairness it's probably difficult for some to make an accurate observation while watching some live grainy feed and posting abuse on Shoutbox.
Play him as a winger with some support and I think he will be ok if we can't find any better. The midfield looks a lot more dynamic so that will help and a new striker obviously.
Having said all that I hope Berghuis plays wide right

Also, emergency left back Clucas inexplicably kept falling for the "back in, pull shirt, roll defender" maneuvre. It looked like the refs must have discussed it at a meeting after this game as shortly afterwards Amrabat started frequently getting penalised for it and his effectiveness diminished.

But there was. And even if there's only one teammate in the box then aim roughly for him. But putting in a cross 10ft high or straight into the Vicarage Road End is completely on Amrabat. You could have all 9 teammates and Gomes unmarked in the box and they're not getting to those types of crosses.

Looking at some of the comments on here, it is clear that some posters havn't played football (at any sort of decent level) in their life. :D:D

No problem with that, just saying.

Technically, you were 'just typing'. Also, I was part of a team that won the Buckinghamshire County Cup 4 years on the spin between the ages of 14 - 17. So I'd place myself as a better winger than Amrabat. And I played CB.

Not saying he's brilliant and some of his deliveries, like most wingers, are not great but having only one person to aim for means he pretty has to put every ball on a sixpence. You need to have support so a winger can aim for areas rather than one person. I keep referring to Okaka goal but it's exactly what should happen. The winger looks to put a ball in an area expecting players to make runs which is exactly what happened

  22. There is no detailed criticism. People just he's poop, and everyone ignores or dismisses his performances in the early part of the season.

Nordin could stay or move on. There are better out there, but they will cost a lot more than he did.

Anyone who says they think he's poop; fair enough, thats your opinion, your opinion can stand against the YouTube videos of his performanes last season, where he was far more involved in games than Pereyra.

Anyone says he is poop; you're talking big fat hairy testicle balls.

Gino doesn't listen to budget rent-a-quote pundits, so I expect him to give Nordin a chance, unless the right offer comes in, or something significantly better comes along.

Capoue started last season well but there are more people on here who slate him than Amrabat. Some people like Amrabat, some don't. Giving him personal abuse on here is silly but having an opinion on his ability or lack of, is valid. If you look at his career, he changes club every 2/3 years. So it could be said, he turns up, does well, goes off the boil and moves on. Which could happen again here. I would thank him for his efforts but in no way would I think that we would miss him on the pitch, he's nowhere near technical enough.

Plenty of us have given multiple, justified specifics for why we believe he's not good enough at this level, so stop talking rubbish.

As I said in my earlier post, he's clearly divided opinion on here. But I still can't get my head around how people refuse to accept that during the first half of the season, he was one of our best players along with Prodl. Every game I was at during this period, the crowd were lifted when he got the ball as he always tried to make things happen, and he always got a standing ovation when he was substituted due to running himself in to the ground.

To be involved in a goal doesn't mean you always have to have the last assist before it's finished off by whoever, and he was certainly involved in a whole host of moves that lead to us scoring (during his run of decent form).

People are aware that the official site has extended highlights of all the games aren't they? Go back and watch those matches up until he got injured, the evidence is right there!!! If he's not good enough for us at this level, what on earth does that say about the rest of the team during that spell (and this was when the team were playing half decent, or certainly better than the second half of the season).

A good example of how people have decided they don't like him no matter what was the friendly the other day. Once we scored, people were quick to say "brilliant, Hughes with an assist already, get in! Ha ha did you see Amrabat's useless, miss-hit cross though?". When in actual fact it wasn't a terrible cross - too near to the keeper maybe, but it was too much for him to handle and hence the ball went loose back in to the danger zone. Hughes' assist on the other hand, was a mis-hit first time shot scuffed into the ground that was going wide until Okaka diverted it in. One player gets acclaim, the other ridicule. It's almost as if minds have already been made up (just to be clear - I'm a fan of Hughes and have high hopes for him this season).

Burnsy makes a good point of his career stats and time spent at his former clubs, so maybe that is repeating now, who knows? But we don't need to sell, so why not have another option in the squad we can turn to if required? Surely seeing what Silva can do with him is a no brainer before we decide that a player who was poor after a bad injury and came back into a team on the slide whilst frequently being played out of position is definitely no good??!

Either way - great bit of debate and discussion which is what this site is for and truly proves that we all see things differently.

Oh come on, it was an absolutely appalling cross, that is just ridiculous. It only fooled the keeper because it was so poor and so far from any of our players! Hughes "assist" was a complete fluke from a mishit, I'm not sure anyone's said much other than that.

Hey ZZ I played for my national team including once almost marking Ian Rush out of a game, is that a high enough standard for you?

While I agree our forward play was often shocking I'll also point out it was week in, week out the same story and busting a gut to get into the box just to watch the ball sail into the stands must seem pretty futile by the umpteenth time. I often wondered what we must do in training things were that bad.

If Arambat had've crossed consistently, timed his passes, got his head up and picked out a player he'd have been too good for us but they are precisely the parts of his game that are lacking. Yes he can beat a player and I can't knock him for effort but honestly it's not enough, I've played against better amateurs for the points I've mentioned.

Saying all that, I was a left back who would get a nose bleed if I got past the half way line, it was a very different game then.

I disagree. It wasn't a great cross, but an appalling cross goes straight out of play or floats harmlessly into the keepers hands. This had pace and dip which is why the keeper made a mess of it. And "so far from any of our players" was actually about 5 yards too near to the keeper, so not that far. Just to be clear - he does need to improve his crossing, but I feel - when on form - he brings other qualities to the team. I'd like to see him given a chance under a new coach based on his form from the early part of last season. And heaps of people on Twitter were raving about the fact that Hughes got the assist (even dragging our former boo-boy Jurado into it).

Again it's all down to opinions - my idea of ridiculous is that people are refusing to accept that Amrabat was one of our best players during the first half of last season when the evidence is on film and widely reported by many media outlets. But it's all good debate, no malice intended in any of my posts and I respect people's different points of view.
