Which I hope is the case, but I would see much more benefit in sticking a youngster on the bench and getting them experiencing it all personally!
To be fair to Walt, it really is a crazy injury list. I'm not sure anyone could find a better XI. We're going to get twa**ed, and I'm kind of acquiesced to that already.
Then leave Pantillimon out. I'm sorry but having two goalkeepers on the bench is absolutely ridiculous.
This is priceless. If another defender gets injured, I fully expect him to put Gilmartin on at CB. I wanted you gone Walt, but I admire the sheer brazzenness of this!
Eleftheriou getting prepped to come on by Deeney whilst Walt sat doing nothing. Damning. How Gino let Walter be in charge today looks increasingly baffling. He's chucked the game, pure and simple.
That first half has summed up everything that has annoyed me this season. Firstly the scoreline isn't the problem, don't get me wrong it's gutting to watch us get spanked but I expected it. I'm going to watch the lot, and try and remember it just so I can compare it to what we do next season. Defending corners. How embarrassing was that first goal? One of our major weaknesses and that's the best the coaching team can come up with?? Seriously, every single member of this forum could have done a better job with our set up. "Right, pick a man each, stay with him, challenge for the ball, stick with your man until we have fully cleared our lines". Youngsters. Mason has done well and Elerthiou has done ok to since coming on. Having some raw talent, youthful exuberance in the team can do wonders for energy. Mason played well earlier in the season then gets dropped completely as we watch over and over again the team lacking energy and desire. Why Behrami AND Holebas at centre back? Why no an U'23 or even an U'18 CENTRE BACK. No he wouldn't stop 4 goals, but he is training as a CENTRE BACK. Not even one on the bench (2 GK's!?) Doucoure. Shameful he wasn't even considered good enough for the 25 man squad. Not that he even comes across as a poor character! Hard working and looks a real talent. Lack of HG players, especially British. Cleverly might not be having a great game, but he looks like he cares all the time. I want to see that, we need that. Lack of leaders. Please please please can we sign some leaders throughout the team. That corner today shouldn't be accepted, shouldn't be allowed to happen. Who's demanding we win the next tackle, the next header? Strikers. Someone with pace and movement. It's not rocket science, its nothing new to the game. Injuries. I hope the club come out and say they got training, warm ups and player management off the pitch wrong, because 6 CB's injured isn't 'bad luck'. Now we are back to square one finding a decent medical team, physio, coaching team. The annoyance I'm feeling today when the camera pans to Walter shaking his head as if to say "that's not what I wanted them to do" well what did you want them to do?? That corner (yes I know I've mentioned it 3 or 4 times!) that's down to you! Well here we go for another 45 minutes of fun.
Is that even remotely close to what I've suggested? Look further up the thread and you'll see what I expected from today. Stop looking for an argument. Although it wouldn't be the first time.... We were never going to compete today but it can't be said Walter has done his best. I didn't expect him to but it's hardly professional on his part. He's shouldn't have been let near the ground today but it's our own mismanagement - whole backroom staff, Kewell being dreadful etc etc - that has allowed that to be the only option. A sorry day indeed.
No centre backs at all then another defender injured, hardly stood a chance, I almost feel sorry for Walter, but WTF is he thinking of putting two keepers on the bench, it would have been better to put an u18 on the bench that doing that
If this team were a dog you'd put it down Everything about the team has regressed Gino and the team need to get this summer right
Apparently there were two keepers on the bench because of a last minute injury to Mariappa. I can't imagine there were too many other blokes sitting around available to be put into the matchday squad other than Gilmartin.
Don't know how I feel today because my first team Man City won 5-0 but my second team Watford lost 5-0 and my other second team Arsenal didn't reach the champions league
Janmaat and Niang summed it up nicely didn't they? Both couldn't be arsed to play so pretty much subbed themselves off. Huge changes needed over the Summer, too many losers in that team that don't give a ****, and frankly, don't want to be here - kick 'em out the door with Walter and his Coaching Team! Very tough job for whoever takes over.
And so ends one of the strangest seasons I can ever remember in my long years of supporting us. We achieved our main aim of staying up, with a full 6 games to go, yet the season felt like a huge disappointment. We spent most of it debating how many centre halves we should play, and ended it not being able to field any for the last match. We scored more goals against the new champions than we did in 6 matches against the clubs who went down. We beat last season's champions and the current holders of both the League and FA cup but lost to two of the bottom three. We all worried about the first six matches, yet it was the final six of the season that proved far worse. Deeney and Capoue finished as our two top scorers, yet neither were praised all that highly for their overall contributions. We have the largest team we've ever had of coaching and fitness staff, yet had the worst season for injuries many of us can remember. And we shipped 5 at home on the final day under a manager most of us would gladly swap for errrr a manager whose side shipped 7!! If we all thought nothing would change over the summer, I think we would all be heading off for our holidays feeling suicidal. Thank goodness though that we know things will change. The last few weeks, and today especially, has shown how rotten the core of our club is. Coaching failures, training failures, recruiting failures, certain player failures. Time to wipe the slate clean over the summer with much hard work to be done.
Why so? Different to his usual lap? He has always been at the back of the group of the lap taking longer to take it in etc. I wasn't there today so genuine question.
I dunno there was something different in his manner this year. Looking to me like he was taking it all in one last time.
Gomes - 'we will be better next season, I promise' Deeney - 'thank you very much and have a good summer'
Just back, and I stopped at the garage to fill up. If anyone on here stayed to clap the players let me know, I need to put someone on the ignore list. Best, (only), moment of the match was when the crowd chanted "off" to get Mazzari sent off. Otherwise pretty sh*te.
Abstract review of the game; 1.30pm RG - Can I play up front boss? Troy - Yes Rene, that'll be fun. WM - Hey'a troydeeni, im'a still here. Rene can go on'a de benchio. 3.35pm Behrami - Wheres the ******** Defence? Holebas - I think it's you and me Valon. Behrami - ****, why'd nobody tell us? 3.50pm Pep - lads go easy out there second half. WM via Google translate - hey valon, forgot a bit of information, you're centre half today. 4.10 DJ - screw this I'm faking injury. 4.15 MN - screw this I'm going off too. 4.30 Rene get ready your going on for Okaka 4.31 WM via lonely planet guide to English - Hold on, gomes is injured, might have to bring on Pants. 4.32 RG - damn it, missed my moment. 4.44 Fan to other fan - are we staying to boo or shall we leave?
Generally think there is going to huge turnover this summer. Think Deeney is off, I wouldn't keep Okaka either. Amrabat, Capoue, Kaboul, Berhami, Britos all need to go as well as the other fringe players Personally think our team next season will mostly consist of new players and needs to look something like this in my opinion Gomes, new GK, u21 GK Janmaat, Dje dje Prodl, Kabasele, new CB, new CB, Cathcart, Mapps Holebas, Mason Cleverly, Doucoure, new CM, new CM Success, new RW Penaranda, new LW Pereyra, Zarate new ST, new ST, new ST
Feels much like our second season under the Pozzo's. At least the task at hand is clear - back then it was massive overhaul to achieve promotion. Now it's a massive overhaul to avoid relegation and I'm sure that will be the case. Required: Ambitious manager that instils a winning mentality, a clear style of football and a teamsworth of investment.
Happy birthday to me happy birthday to me, we had no fit defenders and got stuffed by citee, happy birthday to me
Highlight of the game was the ref going over to have a word with Mazzarri, the crowd chanting for him to be sent off and the camera cutting to Gino ******* himself laughing. Today was an insight into what sort of thing we could be looking forward to next season unless things are changed. Luckily we have good people running this club and they know what needs to be done and have already started that process to ensure that we don't have totally embarrassing showings like this in the future.
I laughed when the 4th went in and clapped when the 5th went in. I think this match converted me into a city fan...
Only saw the 1st half, ashamed of that performance, only Mason seemed arsed Deeney giving instructions or words of motivation to the kid coming on for Janmatt. Shocking is an understament I seriously thought I'd be reading double figures for city once I checked the final score, Phil Neville said watford were a disgrace and he was right. Feel for you that paid to go today keep your ticket stub cos the club should reimburse you all for that.
