Get off at west brompton or Imperial Wharf both about a 10 min walk and are on the overground line from Willesden Junction or the East Croydon service direct from Watford junction or Hemel
Is this a sell out? Would be good to get a big bunch in a boozer pre, maybe even post game if it goes alright, to see the season out in style. 3 seasons is a worthwhile cause to celebrate! Any pub in particular? Cmon you Horns
14 Mar 1970 Chelsea v Watford L 5-1 FA Cup I was aged 8 and cried my eyes out over this one. It was 1-1 at half time. I think Terry Garbett got our one. It was the hope that hurt.
Anything less than a 7-0 defeat must be considered a triumph. Scoring a goal would be akin to our achievement of reaching the cup final in 84.
Yes, with the idea the Costa and Holebas have a royal rumble style brawl pre match, and De Toffol is the only man standing, meaning the match is abandoned and we're given a solitary point.
Starting at the Courtfield Arms at Earl's Court at 17.30 followed by the Finborough Arms as a halfway house. Both mentioned on this thread previously. Afterwards who knows. Open to offers!
Woz there too. Garbett did equalise around eleven minutes following a very early one for them from David Webb. Then they ran amok in the second half (at our end). Talk about being 'on the beach'. That one was certainly played 'on A beach'. Our first F.A. Cup semi-final.
I believe this game was on one of those classic match programmes recently. We Did ok until they started scoring. Much like tonight I feel. Edit, big match revisited; http://www.wsc.co.uk/wsc-daily/1190...lsea-5-1-watford-fa-cup-semi-final-1970-video
I was an embryo at the time and still was gutted . Four months later I was born at Shrodells with a view into the ground from the ward. I was born on a Saturday afternoon and often fantasised that the moment I stuck my head out, Watford had simultaneously scored meaning the crowd erupted at the same time as I drew my first breath and my Mother squeezed for one last time.* Unfortunately it was July pre season, so probably just the sound of the groundsman whistling as he cut the grass. *EDIT Just realised this sounds like my Mother died in child birth. Thankfully she didnt.
I was 6 and therefore only have a vague recollection of it. However I do have a picture of me in my Watford kit that year. I have more teeth now but fear the result may be similar, minus our TG effort!
Hadn't discovered the joys of being a hornet at that stage at the age of 7. I remember laughing my head off a few years later when we lost to Northwich Victoria was it ...3-2? Only saw the light in 1977 2 games before we hit the top of div 4.
Advert on talksport selling the commentary as Chelsea going to smash us to bits, barely even mentioned us. Hope Walter explains this to the players as motivation for the game......
I was 12 and went on the coach, on my own, as my old man didn't like football. Three memories, apart from TG's 40 yard bobbler of an equaliser:- - Seeing AA boxes like Tardises on the way - McCreadie stamping on Welbourne's face (honest) - a very tall Chelsea fan with a Uni scarf tapping me smugly on the shoulder every time they scored. Oh, and WHL, with the old Shelf, which struck me as awe inspiring
My biggest worry is that we may take our foot off the pedal and/or be sozzled from celebrating palaces win over hull. Players could well end up on the beach now.
I was 13 and was right behind the goal when "Give it to" Garbett scored....the impossible could happen again, we thought...then in the 2nd half the fact we had about 5 key players out & the fact that Chelsea decided to show how they could really play all caught up with us & 4-0 in the 2nd half was not at all unreasonable. But that Chelsea side was pretty good.
Will Gomes be left as stranded by our defence tonight?! https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....ll-training-kit-stood-outside-parliament/amp/
Is this team selection - Genius - or has WM lost the plot completely ? Niang as centre forward supported by Capoue ?? 1Gomes 6Mariappa 5Pr*dl 25Holebas 7Amrabat 8Cleverley 11Behrami 16Doucouré 22Janmaat 29Capoue 21Niang Substitutes 9Deeney 18Zuñiga 30Pantilimon 32Mason 33Okaka 42Eleftheriou 47Pereira
Janmaat will be playing at right back, right midfield, left wing, left back and centre back at some point during the 90 minutes.
So Chelsea are playing their reserves tonight. Three former watford players starting against us. We'll still get tonked
