Apparently our performance was not that bad and we deserved a draw.......another classic Mazzarri take on the game.

"We scored in the last minute and this is something very positive." Yes.....we are now only minus 14 instead of minus 15 on the goal difference.

We won't go down this season so there is little chance of any changes before the end of season

If his brief is to keep the team up in any way possible then he won't go

If he's lost the dressing room then he will

As I can't answer either of the above I will just base my view on performances...and, bar from very few, it's absolute carp. For that reason alone I would like to see changes...only Gino knows whether he believes he's recruited well and blame lies at the managers door

If we avoid the drop then he goes in the Summer. I really can't see what more he could have to offer next season that he hasn't tried already.

In local news tonight the A&E unit at Watford General was overwhelmed with hundreds of Watford fans suffering from concussion. Experts were initially baffled as to why they felt the need to hit the table with their heads and feel further investigation is needed.

I doubt very much whether 3 wins will be needed. 35/36 points could easily be enough.

Hopefully not......as it's taken us 15 games to get the last 3 wins.

It matters more what Scott Duxbury thinks. He was the bloke who wanted no less than us to be champions in our promotion season. Who sacked the groundsman and got in the best guy possible from Arsenal when the pitch wasn't quite right.

He'll be expecting us to be at least 8th - the 'winners' of the second tier Premier League teams. I cannot believe for one minute with all the investment in players, wages, training ground facilities, chefs, planes and the rest that they are settling for happy clappy fans' view that 17th is as good as 7th.

Me, I don't want Mazzarri out particularly but Etienne Capoue? Etienne can feck off asap, he doesn't give a toss.

Genuine question does anybody think any of Watford's players today would get into Southampton's team? I would say not many. We have a poor unbalanced squad with no midfield creativity without pererya or zarate. Form is worrying but debatable if another manager would get more out of the squad than mazzari has. We have defaulted to type of performance we saw in second half of last season with little continuity between defence and midfield. Suggests defects in the squad rather than down to Mazzari.

I'll tell you why it wasn't a thriller- we didn't register a worthwhile goal attempt between the fourth and the 80th minutes. Ordinary game with a misleading number of goals and we were second best and largely clueless from the moment they equalised.
Why did they spend 15 minutes showing Success those bloody flipcharts?

Whether Southampton's squad is better than ours is immaterial. What you've got to ask is are our players playing anywhere near to their capacity? Are we organised, do we chase and harass the opposition? It's the same problems week after week we are seeing.

Southampton were below us in the table, so that tells you they are not an incredibly good side.

Here are the stats from today's game and I think you will agree they tell a story.

Watford shots on target 4. Southampton shots on target 11
Watford passes 252. Southampton passes 447
Watford pass accuracy play 60%. Southampton 76%
Watford overall possession 37%. Southampton 63%

Seems reasonable enough to me once more. When we equalise with 10 mins to go, then it doesn't seem outlandish to say we deserved a draw.

In fact, as he says, we "had the chance to go 3-2 up when [Stefano] Okaka and [Valon] Behrami were through, but we didn't and on the counter-attack they scored."

Is it 'unbelievable' and 'outrageous' to say that? It was the same as I saw.

    He goes on to say:-

"I like and I want to underline this, that we never gave up. We scored in the last minute and this is something very positive."

He's right there too. Although I think Gomes' fumble for us to go 2-3 down affected him for their fourth, we still kept going. We didn't give up. I liked that too.

He also says: ""I liked the way [Success] played today," Mazzarri said. "He could have done even better, but Success is coming back - the old Success that we saw at the beginning is coming back."

Seems reasonable enough. I thought Isaac was pretty dire when he came on last time out - the commentator even said it looked like he'd forgotten to put his studs in and then he seemed to bottle the chance at the end. Today was a much better and longer performance. It's a positive that he seems to be getting back to his best.

He was also (as you'd expect), not critical of HG. "I didn't say anything because mistakes can happen to everyone," he added. "We are a whole team and in this case I will not say anything. We will correct the team's mistakes but not individual ones."

Again, seems right enough to me and not outlandish or outrageous.

The thing is, why doesn't he address the important things. Why do we constantly give the opposition space in dangerous areas? Why are our defenders always so rushed and clear the ball straight to the opposition? Why are so many players under performing week after week? Why are we so disorganised?

A team reflects the coach. We have been a mess of a team all season, and it's getting worse. What I'm seeing now, is exactly the same type of performance as when Flores was on his way out. The quality in our play is just not there and we are not improving.

Until today, I was thinking we should leave the coach in place until the end of the season then review.......but look at Leicester and the bounce they got by removing Ranieri. To see us out, all we really need is that bounce of a couple of wins.

Lets face it, does anyone really believe the club will keep Mazzarri beyond this season?

I think the chances are they will keep mazzarri. Big support team. Beat Sunderland and we are pretty much safe. Think they will give him a second season (rightly or wrongly)

Sorry but the quality of the squad is not irrelevant. Who in Watford's team would get into Southampton's? Listening to 3cr's summing up is that we just don't have the quality to play through teams. Stats show our ball retention very poor, is this Mazzari's fault, partly maybe but more fault of players borne out by us playing similarly to Flores in the second half of last season.

I thought we weren't allowed to judge teams based on silly things like league positions? I thought they had to be judged on figurative 'deserved' points? Where are Saints in the 'deserved points' table? Surely way above us as we're rock bottom? In which case, not a bad result.

Mazzarri makes several decisions and comments that I disagree with. Which is annoying.

But looking at the tools he actually has to work with, it's no wonder we're so inconsistent. People complain that our default setting is to hoof. Let's look at our defence, where passing moves generally start.

We've got Kaboul, who's decent enough defensively but average at best on the ball. Britos who is comfortable enough in possession but distribution is horrendous. Prodl who is solid but is a 'clear your lines' type defender. Holebas who has average control of the ball and often takes erratic touches. Janmaat, always injured. Not a ball playing defender in the bunch. Just average defenders, with low technical ability. Not a great recipe for building moves from the back.

Then moving to the midfield where passing moves can develop, Cleverley seems the only player willing and able to receive the ball and move it forward. Capoue will return the ball to the defence and Valon's quality is not with the ball at his feet. Again, not conducive to flowing football.

Then looking at the forwards, we have Troy and Okaka. Deeney will win flick ons but in my opinion struggles to hold the ball up and isn't technically gifted enough to lay the ball in a way that keeps a forward move progressing. He needs several touches, or will try a flick that invariably doesn't come off. Okaka can hold the ball up but blows hot and cold and again, has been injured. Success again has been injured and is also quite erratic in possession.

All in all we have an average team, not helped by injuries and not given a chance to build up any momentum and fluency due to this situation. Despite all this, we are comfortably mid table, and have had a couple of big scalps. So overall, WM has fulfilled his duty, in difficult circumstances. I'm personally looking forward to seeing how he progresses this squad once players are fit and we've moved on players that are on a downward trajectory. And unless there's a better, realistic option out there, I hope he stays.

He had a year to know about us, a good few months to watch us, he knew what type of players he was getting when he joined. He had two transfer windows in charge to change things if he wanted.

No point getting rid now, but in the summer, he can walk. I certainly won't be waving him a fond farewell.

He got the players he/Gino wanted in Pereyra, Janmaat, Succcess, Okaka and Zarate. Unfortunately for Walter, Gino, and us, they've been injured.

Yesterday was not good enough and 3-4 flattered us. I'm firmly against changing the coach again as I would like to see him given a chance to build a team. Yesterday though I just did not understand why he didn't solve the biggest issue which was there midfield were running the game. I would have had Doucoure on for Capoue after 30 minutes. He's not the best but we needed a worker to plug the enormous gaps in the middle of the park. I blame Wally for that entirely but we really need some continuity now and would like to see how he gets on when we finally get our creative players back. Defence needs an overhaul though.

Have we had all those players fit at once? Or even most of them? And even with them, still no ball-playing centre half. Think the club might have been banking on Kabasele being a bit more developed than he is.

    Interesting summer ahead.

If we have non ball playing defender, who's instinct or better ability is to punt it long, then they should be doing it into areas that A) the forwards are aware of and B) an area of weakness that the scouts and identified and the coaches want to exploit.

Just humping it forward and hoping for a flick on most of the time is simply giving possession back to a team that does have more passing ability than us. If we do have to use the long ball then lets make it productive.

Then let me ask you this, what has his footballing style been from day one?

His philosophy is clear and hasn't changed so it's not about personnel. Look at Muff last season, they had some horrendous injuries yet they never changed their style of play, we've had horrendous injuries and we haven't changed our style of play.

At this moment, we've turned into 15 minute wonders, teams figure us out after 15 minutes and we have no answer...that's down to coaching and tactics....what's worse is we look unfit.

With udinese cast offs, hand me downs, and free transfers we played (mostly) a very entertaining mixed game

Having spent a serious amount of cash over 3 transfer windows ($50 mill...? £70mill...? More? I'm sure you can correct me) we play a very ugly hateful brand of football

Which style of play would you pay to see? I'm not going to pay to watch that crap week in week out.

I've lost interest in watching Mazzarri's team play...barring a collapse. we'll stay up but I'm finding other stuff to do at weekends.

If we win, great...if we lose...meh...there's nothing to get excited about anymore.

Again we seemed to sit back once going in front yet Walter says he doesn't want the team to do that so who is making them go into defensive mode?

Or is that just a natural instinct.
