Brilliant result, brilliant night. Could hear our fans singing all the way through. Well done everyone.
Every other team in the top 6 are either wobbling or not playing particularly well. This is our year; we will never get a better opportunity than this. Having been chasing for a long period, we're now in a position where we can control whether or not we win the league. Get our results right and nothing else matters.
I don't think so. We're peaking at exactly the right time. And I think we're getting better. Not just dazzling sexy football, but better at winning - getting the result. We're a promotion team. We're the real deal and we're what I hoped we'd be at the start of the season with all the positive signings and Deeney staying put. 5 more wins. We'll be up. It's going to happen.
A win on Saturday then opens up the door to being able to manage the Easter weekend games a bit better. There's no peaking too soon now. It's getting across the line. It's looking like the top will stretch out a bit and leave 3 or maybe 4 of the remaining teams to contest the top 2. Top or 2nd, I don't care. Ighalo raring to go. Forestieri hitting form. Hobang getting gaymes and looking the business. Abdi to come back for the important Easter games. Guedioura putting his body on the line for his loan team. The defence looking remarkably resilient. And Troy Deeney, who wants it more than anyone. Probably more than any of us. It's coming together. For Nic, for promotion.
We only lost by 1 to Ipswich last time, last time we couldn't handle hoofball. This time we will. Either one or both of boro + bmuff will drop points and these are the only two that can knock us from first now. Win and we gain even more ground on the rest of the table.
I think so too. Remember the home game against Derby, when our players' body language was wary from the start? That's going to be reversed when we visit them. Derby are on the slide, their nerves are fraying, and we've become a bulldozer of a team since we last met.
so have been mulling over my thoughts and trying to put some perspective on it all in a clear and balanced way. So far I've come up with fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
'I think we need a dominant, nasty centre back.' 'I think we need more cover at wing back.' DO WE HELL. WE HAVE BOTH. WE HAVE TOMMIE HOBAN.
Troy just interviewed on Radio5Live. Totally relaxed. Comments included: On the run in - it's good fun. Not much point in doing it if you're not enjoying yourself! On the managerial changes - well we've gone through three already this season so hopefully we've got the right one now! Hilarious!
What a fall from grace for Derby. If they dont turn things around soon they could miss out on playoffs
That was superb - told my lad at Nottingham at half time we'd win 2-0 - first ever win against Wigan away from home, a good time to hit top of the league, win on Saturday and we have the international break before the final seven games - it's now firmly in our hands - this team seems to know how to win! COYFH
I love the way SJ gets the best out of this squad. Every game a slightly changed formation with 2 or 3 changes that works far more often then it doesn't. The other team don't know what to expect. Top manager!
I was at the gym and was constantly trying to check for updates (and was therefore ******* off my mates and others). BUT I DON'T GIVE A DAMN BECAUSE WE'RE TOP (8 games remaining)!!! One thing I did see for a split second on the shoutbox was that Hoban went on a Messi-esque run? Really?? Also how did he (and all of the others play)?
A very good, professional performance. Maybe the performance of a side destined for promotion. It may have only been Wigan but at no point did we appear to be in trouble although that is based on Sky, shoutbox etc. I was very confident about tonight but Shoutbox does something to me especially when people who think they're funny (honestly you're not) post fake goals. Thankfully I'm going to the last 8 games! Massive 3 games coming up. 9 points anybody!!
Just got home - awful first half - the pitch was terrible. Great cross from Guedioura for Deeney's first. We got better when Tozser came on. Good turn out from the fans and made much more noise than Wigan fans. 3 points and we are top of the league. COYH
I'm feeling far to happy! might go on the Derby forum to join in the wrist slitting that im sure is going on there!
Deep joy! I was a mixture of anxious/confident but not too confident with a little bit of fear for a Cowie or Pennant goal to bite us,thrown in. Glass of proseco to celebrate with wotsits,a german side have just lost on penalties and we are top!:sign15:
To anyone who was there .... were we in control, did we look nervy, are we showing any signs of the pressure being too much?
Can anyone confirm if we sung 'we are going up' at all today? If we did, then I'm not looking forward to our remaining games, but if we didn't, then I think it may be our year.
A big win tonight, and one which stamps a bit of authority for us. I had a feeling this could be our banana skin game, and I'm delighted we came through it strongly. We are now in pole position....but with three very hard games coming up. I'd take 5 points from those three quite happily. What I'm really liking about us right now, is there is no sign of nerves in the camp. None at all......only the fans seem to be a bit jittery, but that's understandable. The players have "another day at the office" attitude, which is perfect for our situation. This could be a record breaking season for us.....record total goals, Deeney is on course for scoring in 8 consecutive games plus he's now a shoe-in to score 20 in 3 consecutive seasons. We have 8 "doubles" already with the potential of getting another 2, plus a possible 30 wins.....ok that's pushing it I know.....but on a night like this...why not.
Apparently according to Derby forums Will Hughes is one yellow away from a two match ban. Hopefully he'll get it on Friday
