If they go down would it be better for us and the Pozzos? I'm playing Devils advocate because I want them to stay up but is it easier to have one club in a lower league where the Pozzos can send players still in development rather than trying to get enough players to compete in the top 3 leagues in Europe? Especially considering the financial deal for Spanish teams
The TV money comes in not next season but the one after that. It's not an impossibility that both Granada and Depor survive, It is a long shot but can happen. Almeria have a 3 point deduction hanging over them, but La liga are not giving their decision until the 20th May!! Granada 28pts - Cordoba (H), Real Sociedad (A), Atletico (H) Depor 30 pts - Athletic (A), Levante (H), Barcelona (A) Eibar 31 pta - Espanyol (H), Getafe (A), Cordoba (H) Almeria 32 pts (*3pts deduction possibly) - Malaga (H), Sevilla (A), Valencia (H) Levante 35 pts - Atletico (H), Depor (A), Elche (H)
I think they played an ineligible player and God only knows as it is la Liga and they have very mysterious ways
It was something about a late payment to a foreign team. A relatively small sum. FIFA imposed a 3 points deduction but Liga apparently didn't accept it yet and Almeria says (not too wrongly maybe) that it's an excessive punishment.
They failed to pay Aalborg €57.000 euros. FIFA imposed a 3 point deduction as Sherlock says and they are now waiting for outcome from a hearing.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-32618821 Spanish league suspended as of a fortnight's time in protest at the new football tv rights deal.
Looks like it was even less still owed http://www.espnfc.co.uk/almeria/sto...o-hear-if-they-face-points-deduction-in-la-li
Granada 1-0 up against Cordoba with 45 mins to go. Cordoba have had a man sent off also. COME ON GRANADA!
Yes mate, big time. Just seen that Eibar, one of the teams above them have played a gam more than the rest of the pack, so this is Granada's game in hand. VAMOS!
Table now looks like this. Looks do-able... Deportivo (away at 8th placed At Bilbao at 21:00 tonight) and Almeria's (home vs 9th placed Malaga at 18:00 tomorrow) games in hand are massive now. If Depor and Almeria don't win, and Almeria get that three point deduction (which to be honest I'm not convinced they will) Granada will move out of the relegation zone.
93rd min Equaliser for us Had a good goal disallowed in the 1st half too. I still can't call who will go down. Granada 31 - Real Sociedad (A), Atletico (H) Eibar 31 pta - Getafe (A), Cordoba (H) Depor 31 pts - Levante (H), Barcelona (A) Almeria 32 pts (*3pts deduction possibly) - Malaga (H), Sevilla (A), Valencia (H) Levante 35 pts - Atletico (H), Depor (A), Elche (H)
We made a hard 2 in a row (first of the season) but as our coach said: "That was only to join the group, now, against Real Sociedad will be the most important match of the season". Hard team and hard field to compite against... Hope tonight Almeria is defeated by Malaga and, they might win 0 points in last 2 matches so we just have more chances... Still so difficult but at least now it is possible. Best thing: our last 4 games (Getafe, Cordoba, Real Sociedad & Atletico) are against teams that had already finished their season and won't gain or loose anything with +3 points... Still hard to beat Real and Atletico but, obviously, if you score against them, they won't fight as they would if they are competing for something. PD: Sandoval had made one "simple" thing no coach did in all our seasons in La Liga: Talk with the players and say to them: "Just try to do your best, you are good players, just keep your mind clear". He even talked to El Arabi (few minutes this season) and said to him: "If you fight for us, I guarantee at least 4 goal chances every match for you, and I know you will, at least, score 1, because you are a great player". Since then: 3 goals in 2 matches.
Can someone quickly explain why Granada are above Eibar and below Deportivo? On head to head between Granada-Eibar, the games were draws, so it goes to Goal Difference does it not? Eibar's is better though...? On head to head between Granada-Deportivo, Granada won 1 and drew the other, so shouldn't Granada be above?
In La Liga: 2 teams with same score: Goal Average on games between both teams (Goals away doesn't count double as it can happen in a cup, it's like both only score 1 point). Granada vs Deportivo would make Granada be on top. Granada vs Eibar would make Granada be on bottom (both got 2 points [2 draws] so we must see the league goal average -> Eibar has a better score than us) +2 teams with same score: You have to do a "mini league" between all of them. In Granada-Eibar-Deportivo case it turns like this: Deportivo (7pts [2 wins against Eibar, 1 draw against Granada]), Granada (6 pts [2 draws against Eibar, 1 draw & 1 win against Depor]), Eibar (2 pts [2 draws against Granada])
Almeria lost so pts and games left: Cordoba relegated Granada 31 - Real Sociedad (A), Atletico (H) Eibar 31 pta - Getafe (A), Cordoba (H) Depor 31 pts - Levante (H), Barcelona (A) Almeria 32 pts (*3pts deduction possibly) - Sevilla (A), Valencia (H) Levante 36 pts - Depor (A), Elche (H)
This is a totally mad system. Depending on the next results it looks possible that a no point, a one point and a three point deduction could relegate any two of four clubs ... The Spanish FA actually get to choose exactly who drops down with Cordoba on a whim. My brain hurts!
Haha! Well, we are made to that system so... We are habituated to create that mental "mini leagues" to see who's the relegated in case of a draw... I don't see it as a bad either good system.
You might see it differently if Almeria are docked one point and Granada go down with Depor. Thinking about it they are almost certainly going to have to follow that Fifa ruling or face an unwinnable case through the courts should Almeria otherwise be relegated.
It's either 3 points deduction or no deduction as far as I know. Have not seen anywhere just the 1point deduction
