No, it's things like the arcade that suffer until wfcforums.com is resolved properly by all your hosts. A little pain won't hurt in the long run
Mine was already pretty good mate so I'd say so far not really. The real test will be the next well attended shoutbox.
I had to use the temp link yesterday, but everything seems to be back to normal today and I have not had to do a thing. Well done Admin :sign15: By the way I reckon it is definitely quicker.
I've cleared cookies, cache, internet history and even vacuumed the area around where both I and my computer sit but still need the temporary link to access the site.
Be patient. In your case I'd say it's your ISP that's caching the sites and just needs time to update. Virgin users seem affected most. Here's a test for you... Open a command prompt, (start - run - cmd). Type in ping wfcforums.com If the number you get is 91.204.209.41, then all is fine, just wait. Any other number report back here.
Sorry Admin, that second bit is gobbledygook to me I'm an old bloke who barely knows how to turn his mobile phone on! I'm also on a Mac, if that makes any difference? I'll be patient and wait in the shadows
Yep, that's the old IP address, you'll get the same Oxhey so don't worry about the tests. You're both on Virgin, no coincidence. As long as you can use the link you'll be fine until Virgin update. When you type wfcforums.com into your browser, the browser goes off and finds a DNS Server on the internet that tells it what number, (IP address), is associated with wfcforums.com. With that number, it can locate where exactly in the world we are located. What you chaps are getting is the old number, because Virgin, (and others), save bandwidth by storing these numbers locally. What they've got is the old number, so as soon as they run their updates, (daily I hope), then you'll be fine. Until they do then your browser will always go to the old site. If it's not working tonight then I have a friend who works for Virgin and can let me know why.
All back to normal for me, even got the new header Did the test and the minimun and max and avergae time for the site is 60ms
I spoke to my friend over at Virgin and he said all looks good from there, and it has definately updated now. If anyone is still seeing the old site by tomorrow morning then that will be most wierd.
Wierdness. I wonder if our friends at the old hosting site are playing silly buggers. Anyway, tomorrow is d-day, any problems tomorrow and I'll play detective.
Much faster and i dont need to use the temp link anymore as the normal one is now working. Well done Admin.
OK, if anyone is still seeing the old site, (now closed but the message is still there), I need to know about it.
