I like Asprilla, but if we could sell him for enough money to get two solid championship players in (striker and CB) and cover the losses for a while it would be a no brainier. He's a luxury player who drifts in and out of games and he's nowhere near the finished article as far as his decision making and consistency. The team would be better off for selling him if the money was used correctly.
To clear up any confusion on here…Asprilla has 2 years left on his deal so he won’t be leaving for free next summer.
No, but i suppose it puts us in an awkward spot as he is only 6 months away from being able to agree a pre-contract deal and leave on a free (the following summer).
I’ll be honest, knowing how the club are with telling managers who plays and who doesn’t etc I think cleverley will be told to put him in the team no matter what. I hope it’s different this time around but I highly doubt it.
If there’s a chance of a big money sale, isn’t it better not to play him so there is no chance of injury?
Oof, 5 years ago the mere suggestion of this would have had you pounced upon on here by the Pozzo loving mob with their virtual torches and pitchforks. But they’ve mostly left now citing ‘disillusioned with football in general’ as their reasoning. Those were the days.
Of course, this is perfectly normal. Most football clubs are happy to risk the points available during the window in return for preserving their saleable assets, in case of a buyer.
Come for the king, you best not miss…. (this is a joke FYI - I panicked when I saw him in the tunnel on Tuesday as was told he wasn’t available)
Jokes aside, had a conversation with a few friends about where he fits in the team as it stands. The consensus is on the bench until he earns his spot
No idea if true but saw a fan on Twitter post a photo with him, apparently they asked him to stay and he just shook his head Kayembe playing the role so well will definitely soften the blow when he does go.

Honestly at this point, selling him is probably the best option. Let’s say we get 20m for him, and we spend 4-5m of that strengthening the squad. That might get us a capable defender and allow us to bring in that loanee forward. He is definitely behind Chak and Kayembe based on their current form.
What was suggested to me was TC will get 10-15% of whatever we get. But that’s on wages and everything. I don’t think we will be spending more than £2m on anyone and I doubt we will do that to be honest.
What a joke …. If Asprilla goes out of £35m - £40m coming in from him And alone combined and Tom may get £3m including wages. Scandalous ownership
We've heard all about Gino's penny-pinching and less than entirely scrupulous attempts to cover his own poor governance and claw back finances through less than virtuous means, but actually charging players to play?! He's gone too far this time
Well, that’s one completely fair and reasonable way to look at it, granted. But - if we got £25m and Gino pocketed £22.5m of it, that could be £22.5m closer to him selling up also…and some have said they want him gone at any price. Well, this could be the price!
