No idea...17 year old from Envigado. Says we've bought him but he's going to stay with them, assuming it's a Joao Pedro scenario. https://twitter.com/DOGORBiG/status/1431300615079141379
Please tell me he’s related to Faustino. The Bergkamp one was cool, and the same goes for Pochettino, but if we get the offspring of Tino Asprilla through the door, it’s a game changer.
A figure close to €3m, a lot for a 17 year old, but if the Pozzos are good at anything, it's spotting good young South Americans
Trying to find some info on that but struggling. Customary video...nice left peg, 2 goals and an assist...he looks tiny though.
I hope his signing won't prove to destabilise the squad right when we're on the cusp of winning the Premier League
Looking forward to seeing how this kid does at Extremadura, Ponferradina and finally Almeria before taking us to court to get himself out of his contract. #thepozzoway
Envigado have a record of producing top talents that introduce to the first team early doors. James Rodriguez was one, making his professional debut at just 14 (!), Jhon Córdoba made his debut at 17 there. Other notable players include ex Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin, ex Porto player Juan Fernando Quintero and rumoured LB target Frank Fabra. It's a club the Pozzos like to recruit from, although our buys haven't been as good - Alexis Zapata hopped between Granada/Udinese without really making many appearances (1 I think) and our loan army recruit Jorge Segura was recruited from there. I know nothing about this kid though. But the club is good.
I did a little research. Yaser Asprilla is a 17 year old midfielder and he has only just started playing regularly for Envigado's first team. https://www.espn.com.co/futbol/colo...ego-de-convertir-el-2-a-2-final-para-envigado He had come on as substitute in the second half of several games during the opening phase of the Colombian League Championship (according to this report), but other sources suggest that he was only on the pitch for a relatively short time. He came on again in the second half of the first game of the closing phase of the Colombian League Championship. Envigado were losing 0-2 to Atlético Nacional (one of the top clubs in Colombia). Yaser Asprilla provided the assist for Envigado's first goal and scored the equalizer himself. He has played for the majority of Envigado's next five league games and has scored a second goal. Some statistics for him are provided in this second link. https://www.sofascore.com/player/yaser-asprilla/1092769
Has all the makings of a JP/Richarlison job. Pozzo network. Hope it isn't a Toure though. Scored some goals pretty soon though.
What a bonkers signing that was, imagine being top of the league with Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand as you’re strikers and thinking you need Asprilla as well. Rocked up in a fur coat which some woman later bought on eBay I think:
I'm dreaming of him doing his dad's somersault/3 fist pump celebration as he knocks in a goal in a plucky 5-1 defeat to Ipswich in 5 years time.
Thinking about it, I'm shocked there hasn't been a documentary about Newcastle and that season made. Absolute rollercoaster of a season that really stands out. Newcastle spent 75% of the season ****ing teams left and right before a unparalleled collapse and the returning from suspension Cantona driving United to a thoroughly undeserved title.
Fair point that it's excellent documentary content, but can you call any league title win 'undeserved', especially when they won with 4 points to spare in the end?
Seems highly rated. https://footballtalentscout.net/2021/08/27/yaser-asprilla/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
Scored again overnight, very classily taken goal. That's three in six starts as a 17 year old, for a team that's currently second in the Colombian top flight. https://twitter.com/jplgovideos/status/1431734230334283778?s=20
