Even most Championship clubs have billions.
We are 1 level by that metric
Some League 2 teams have more.

Rotherham and MK Dons have more than us.
We are on par with Fleetwood Town and Forest Green Rovers both I believe are former non-league relatively recently

Surely we would be more interesting as a club to some of those billionaires that are owners of those lower league teams?

Maybe it's time The Pozzo's tested the water and put us on the market, they would probably gain a nice profit and hopefully WFC would end up better financed and a better run as a club.

Kiko and King don't have the guts for a relegation battle. Don't want their names tarnished with it and will hide behind "injuries"

Take yourself off with an injury - pull the other one

And I wont be surprised if we see other flakey players do the same in the coming games or in training

That was ******* awful from start to finish. We can take absolutely nothing from that match whatsoever. I'm normally one the more positive posters but we are done. I'm not going to pick on certain individuals but we are simply not good enough and Roy is exactly how I suspected he would be. I've never liked him as a coach but not sure Sir Alex could get a tune out of our lot currently.

Roy had the cheek to say " 'I pick the team because I don’t trust your judgment’. " after the Arsenal game, funny that because the sentiment is mutual Roy.

Another reasonable performance against a "big" club (Arsenal), followed up with incompetence and lack of effort v a lesser one.

But then we're told it's a confidence thing.

I don't really understand why the club just decided to tweet this/what the point of it was, unless the free intern resonsible is just revelling in pure chaos forcing us to immediately reckon with the fact that we have to go through it all again in just 2 days' time...

I put these figures and the link on the forum ages ago and the Elite members on here totally slagged it off as ********.
Facts are facts, we have on the same par as many in League One, some League Two clubs.
Take Bournemouth as an example. Their Russian owner has around £600 million in the bank. The club owe him £132 million as well. We cannot compete with that. There business model is built on his personal wealth, not always a good plan, plus Premier league money.
The Watford plan is built on managing debt repayment. We have spent this years Premier league prize money already. If we go down after one season, it's around £35 million. This is far less than we borrowed. The Premier league money was used as collateral to this loan.
The club hedged its bets on survival. Failure could has far reaching consequences.
I have long felt the the Pozzo/Duxbury business plan was with relegation in mind. With the 50% wage cuts in the Championship, Parachute payments, player sales and a % of the TV money to come. Pozzo could just about keep the club afloat.
We all knew that the team would never be good enough to survive in the Premier league. We are far weaker than the squad that was previously relegated.
Last night was grim. Hodgson knew all along that the players are not good enough. He is just chaperoning the players into relegation. Why should he care? He will come clean and say "the players were of a poor quality for what was needed". Who could blame him?
If we don't go into liquidation, tben we should find a younger manager with desire and give him time.
I would not be surprised to see Diego Martinez in the dug out for our Championship season 2022/23.
We don't want a manager from the 'Old Boys Network'.
    Let's have someone fresh.

The critiscm is about spending the money where it isnt needed and neglecting areas where it is needed. Plus dodgy Belgian agents, poor comms with fans and lies about "lessons learned" and similar.
Otherwise I agree, we are emulating Norwich's approach with simialr results.

I don't understand this; can somebody explain to me, please, how this would be advantageous to Watford?

Obviously one of those specific remarks is tongue in cheek in part, but the general theory is that Bayat is kept sweet by essentially working in tandem with him dealing with many of his clients, most of which are decidedly dodgy/no hopers who'll never amount to anything here, so that when the odd prospect with any chance to turn an actual buck (a la Dennis) pops up on his radar, he directs them to us for a low fee so Gino can get his player-trading machine whirring once again.

Obviously, in that scenario, he will take his cut of that eventual trading deal, as well as his cut of all the deals for the no-hopers/players who are 45 but registered as 25, plus whatever else he has going on under the table to sweeten the relationship - which, given the indictments laid down in Belgium this season, could be just about anything.

To some extent this is undeniable - Jumbo's post isn't alleging something, it's essentially an observation. The real debate is whether doing this is worthwhile either morally/ethically in terms of the position/exposure of the club to dodgy dealings, and in terms of the players received. IIRC Dendoncker was a Bayat connection, and we were supposed to be heavily in for him, but that didn't do diddly squat for us in the end.

I can't remember another season where so many individual mistakes were made that directly lead to an opposition goal? We must average 1 a game.

I thought once Masina, Bachmann and WTE were dropped all our problems would be solved but the other morons have taken it upon themselves to carry it on now.

Still too many shots off target TBF. Can't expect to avoid conceding if you're all up at the other end of the pitch firing the ball into the stand.

If this is the case, judging by our Bayat-connected signing on an impact/profit made basis, it does seem worthwhile, even if Mogi's meddling fingers don't leave a nice taste in the mouth.

I doubt that it is. Put it this way. If a trader in a bank did 75% of his business through one broker it would set off red flags and compliance/audit types would be looking rather closely.

Football is still the equivalent of the Wild West though. A different world.

I must say I haven’t totted it up, but are we up on Bayat activity overall? Lukebakio was Bayat I think, but there have sure been plenty of duds……..

2nd half I think. But but unfair to judge as Hodgson was protecting the 0-3 situation,

    Thank you. Nicely explained.
One would hope that a careful watch of the costs/benefits is acted out by Watford, presumably over a reasonably long period.
When they arrived at Vicarage Rd I thought we were given to understand that the Pozzos had their own scouting network in train. I assume (and have done so for some time) that other clubs have caught up with them in this respect and simply have more money to throw at their 'projects'.

Yep think so. Other networks have caught up. Whether we make or lose money on Bayat transfers overall would seem pretty close to me without doing a forensic review, but my main concern is these days we don’t even seem to explore many other targets and take the easy way of rummaging through the Bayat client list. Which other players do we miss out on with our finite resources?

I vaguely remember some calculations a year or so ago showing we were maybe slightly up on his deals. Dennis should secure that profitable status, and we'll have to wait and see on Kalu/Kayembe

The information is out there in the public domain, I’m not sure who would slag it off as it’s a matter of fact?

What people might have said is it’s not that simple. There are plenty of championship clubs with owners richer than ours, in fact most of them are, but you have FFP for one, and more importantly just because they’re billionaires (in some cases) that doesn’t mean they all have the desire to chuck their own money at a football club like it’s a bottomless pit and run it at a loss.

Having a richer owner than Gino doesn’t automatically mean they’re spending more than Gino, in most cases they aren’t because it’s not a vanity project for most of them.
