Now I’ve had an email from Ross in Watford and he’s concerned about yields from his crop of cannabis. Now as we all know, cannabis has many uses, medicinal and practical. You can also, if you get your preparation right, get madly off your t!ts on it.

I've decided to take it slow with this growing malarkey and put 15 beetroot seeds in peat pots in my propogater? (Have mercy on my spelling Keighley). I've placed this on our landing window ledge as it has a south facing view.

I've also tested the waters and planted three cayenne seeds which will be living in the airing cupboard for the foreseeable.

If you want to take this seriously it would be worth getting either a heated propagator or a heating mat which you can put in the tray, not too expensive. But if this is a south facing windowledge it might well be warm enough anyway (I grow my seeds in a conservatory which is pretty chilly in winter).

I do have a heating mat from a previous foray into growing chilli's, I may try and dig that out soon. I will need to get a proper propogater soon though as currently using those flimsy plastic ones.

I've just found a note on my windscreen.

All typed in capitals and littered with grammatical errors.

In essence it asks me stop feeding the birds because they are pooping on their car/cars.

I'm off to buy another feeder and an 'extreemly ' large one at that!

Then I shall give the note to my neighbour who knows Chris Packham and see what he and the RSPB make of it!

Wonderful video on one of our beautiful little falcons the formerly common kestrel which has declined in the south and east. With a little help from the filmmaker six chicks were fledged. Kestrels rarely live beyond five years although there are examples so to speak that have lived beyond ten years and juvenile mortality is high.

The last few years have not been kind. Just over three years ago my wife who was already struggling with her health had a massive stroke. This left her unable to walk or talk - or even understand a lot of what was happening. She was in hospital for some months but two days before she was due to be discharged staff dropped her - they broke her hip but nobody realised that, due to her lack of movement. It was picked up on a CT scan checking the progress of her cancer six months later. Cutting a long saga short she is now able to walk a few yards with a four legged walking stick and someone with her and she is beginning to learn to speak again. She will never gain much more recovery. I am her sole carer 24 hours a day so have not had the time - or frankly the energy - to visit here. I am finally managing to find a bit of a routine so thought I would see how returning would go.
The few comment I have already received makes it very worthwhile - thank you all.

God bless you lad and your dear wife. What with Clive losing his dear daughter and ZZTop still in an unknown situation it's not been great. Thoughts are with you. Being a carer is one of the hardest things in the world (who cares for the carers ?) trying to make sure everything is right but you do it for the love you hold for someone.

I'm on the verge of giving up following the club. It'll always be there in the background and the emotional ties are too great but one only has so much time and so many things to see and do and time is always running out. Photography is a fabulous hobby if somewhat expensive. It's helped so many people out with all sorts of issues they have.

How is it that some days the gulls mob you as soon as they see you and others - like today they are not interested. Watched a crow this morning breaking a little branch off our tree - took him ages but he did not give up and got a nice stick about 18 inches long which he then porceeded to bring down to our water bowl and wet it.
