King was offside anyway, so the (fair) tackle was irrelevant.

Looked at MOTD and yes it was.

King was offside too it seems anyway.

One of the best challenges you’ll see. King didn’t complain. Offside as well. Apart from that, a definite penalty according to the desperates in the fanbase.

They didn't even VAR it, the corrupt PL are making sure we get relegated this season! I've heard they're also forcing Gino Pozzo to keep the average age of the team over 30.

I can see the Zouma thing continuing to blow right up and The Spammers being forced not to play him, which of course will add to our season of bad luck as other teams in the relegation zone are yet to play them and they won't have to face him like we did

My take on the game was that at least we looked like a competent team, well drilled and working hard, and at times played some really nice football against a top 6 team. Goals were never going to come easy based on our level of confidence and needing to put a big emphasis on not conceding.
We will improve from here with players coming back (Sarr, etobu) but the key issue now being its going to be just too late in the season for us to get the 20+ points to stay up. (might have been less until Newcastle came alive but they will pick up now).
GP absolutely needs to re think his head coach policy and it might be Hodgons appointment that turns his head at long last.!!!

Deeney started against Liverpool when we beat them 3-0, and scored, but it doesn’t mean he should’ve been starting every game.

Definitely think King should be dropped, even just for the next couple of games to see how it goes.

Agree, as I mentioned before King has played more consecutive minutes since he last scored than JP has played all season. Time for JP to be given game time ahead of King.
I would even say JP would play the LM role better than Sema if Roy wants to play Dennis and Sarr as the front pair.

Having a system where the only player with any realistic chance of saving us from relegation is played out of position would be pretty dumb. QSF logic. Sarr is a winger not a striker. Woy knows a lot more about football than any of us so I'd be surprised if he made this mistake. If he doesnt want to play the Sarr formation (433) I'd assume he'll play with Sarr as a winger in a 442 and a more defensive midfielder on the other side unless we are chasing the game late on.

Ranieri, of course, made that exact same mistake with Sarr in his first game. And he knows a bit about football too.

Yes but looking back, I feel the advent of "FREE PIZZA" took everybody by surprise. Not an excuse, Liverpool could of scored 10 that day, we were unprepared which was not entirely by fault - CR70 had hardly got out of his car before our first game.

King need to be dropped . And one of Pedro, Sarr and Dennis to play on the right of midfield with the other two up top .

Who knows what Roy will do , I guess we’ll find out on Saturday .

Given that Dennis is a #9, Sarr is a #7, and JP can play 7, 9,10 and 11. It would kinda make sense to have Sarr 7, Dennis 9 and JP10. Although most likely Sarr will be on the bench.

These kind of hard fought unlucky defeats do kinda scream relegation. I remember u mentioning concern about the link between asthma and severe illness from covid. Tim Spector's Zoe Covid Symptom Tracker from King's University has unfortunately identified a link between asthma and an increased risk of long covid. But the good news is they didn't find a link between asthma and severe illness or death. Which overall sounds like good news for asthmatics.

If we were mid-table and lost that game, you’d probably think it’s fair enough, that’s how it goes sometimes. Decent enough performance, plenty of running, if not a bit blunt in attack. It is what it is, kinda thing.

    We’re not mid-table.

    We’re ****ed.

    Completely and utterly ****ed.

King hasn't been scoring but I will still prefer him starting over Pedro. The system we are playing currently requires someone in the attack with good hold up play because unlike with the last two managers, our defenders seem to clear the ball out more. And besides, a Pedro-Dennis partnership might not really work because Pedro likes being selfish and that might seriously piss Dennis off considering he is that kind of player that can find himself in a good position to score and still pass the ball up to another player in an even better position to score. I really won't like us loosing to Brighton because of Pedro's selfishness. But I will rather have Pedro on the wings if Roy eventually agrees to drop one of Cleverley or Kucko.

We are ****ed if Roy plans to play Sarr in the front two. I think he once played there this season though I can't remember who we played and he looks **** as a striker. I think we played 3:5:2 in that game.

I agree with you. I think we should be starting our home games with Kalu and Sarr on the wings then dropping one of them for either Etebo, Cleverley or Kucko for away games.

I don't think West Ham would have come from behind to beat us if we had score first. We are better defensively and we keep possession better than we did under the last two managers. Those two things were the problem we had in the first leg against West Ham and Brentford.

No need for Kayembe? Like seriously? One of the reasons we have been struggling to keep a clean sheet since the beginning of the season was not having a natural defensive midfielder in the team. I thought we would have gone for Malmo's Innocent Bonke in the January transfer window considering how well he played in the champions league but Lorient eventually got him for free and just like our own Kamara he is already one of there standout players within few weeks of joining.
Kayembe was also a low profile signing but isn't a natural defensive midfielder, yet he is an upgrade on all the options we have there including Louza and Etebo.

Yes seriously. Because he isn’t a natural defensive midfielder. Neither is Etebo and neither is Louza. All 3 play in the same areas.

Not sure how you can say he’s an upgrade on those 2 either. Far from too early to say that. And given we already had those 2, then we would have been better recruiting elsewhere in the squad.

We haven’t been better defensively just because of Kayembe. Sure, he’s contributed…but the whole team have been drilled better and we play with 4 unadventurous CM’s. But Kayembe has only been playing in the exact areas that Louza and Etebo did.

I think the formation is a huge problem for us. 442 with wingers doesn't work unless your 2 CMs are a great engine room. Sarr in a 442 means he's a wide midfielder and that restricts his potency further up the wing.
Our forwards cry out for us to play 433 but so far our midfield 3 haven't had the power to get a grip across midfield.
I'm hoping with Etobu coming back we might find the right mid 3 to enable us switch to 433 (but then Roy prob prefers 442 so I'll shut up)...
