Some of our fans are seriously stupid. Making comments about how this interview isn’t helpful, or no-one wants to keep reading about last season etc. is absolute nonsense. I along with thousands of others appreciate the club and players owning it. I want to know what the hell happened last season and we’re getting those answers. We all knew something was majorly wrong so I love Frenchy’s articles confirming what we knew and going into detail. You have to acknowledge the past in order to move forward. Get everything out in the open so Edwards and the players truly can start from scratch with everyone behind them on their side. We’re doing exactly that.

I hope we interviews throughout the season with Duxbury, Edwards and the players, whether positive or negative, I want to know what’s going on at my club.

I’m being seriously dense here…( its an age thing)who are the players that have left who were the ‘bad apples’? Surely not Foster..

    Maybe for some players.

    Tufan
    King.

I mean Gosling wasn't a fan of Kucka either...

Yes. Gosling didn’t like Kucka, Bachmann didn’t like Foster. Hmmm is the next article going to be by Ngakia moaning about Femenia ??

Depends how other players look at it. Foster was unprofessional and ignored management requests to stop doing his childish YouTube videos. To some that would be a bad apple.

It all trickles down. If Foster was taking the p!ss last season and being unprofessional then the younger players who look up to him will probably have the same attitude. He should have been sold in January if he was ignoring requests from the club to stop the videos, I would have loved to see the **** make a video about that.

I'm also struggling with this. Everyone talks in general terms about these bad apples who have left but not that many have really left and plenty of serious underperformers remain. Bachmann specifically says it wasn't just Tufan, we can probably guess King and Rose, but was Kucka really that disruptive? Was Etebo plotting to bring the club down from his hospital bed? The squad must be pretty weak to be so unduly influenced by such a small minority of players. It is convenient to blame a few bad apples when really a wide range of circumstances caused most of the squad to down tools. Those same players could perform better in a more positive environment, but they have to accept their share of the blame for last season.

Speaking of Foster, has he found himself a new club yet?

I'm sure he was touting himself as being a perfect fit for Arsenal a couple of month ago and how his Youtube career would be beneficial to any club who took him on?

    Not yet it seems .

Been busy doing predictions going by his latest video.

Assuming that they spoke to him before January !

Foster spoke out at the very end of the season about people giving up, not putting the effort in training etc, Gosling and Bachmann have backed that up in both their interviews

Fans are only ever going to guess that it was the players they don't like

If they spoke to him after January then he should have been made unavailable for selection. This is assuming they spoke to Foster at all, the information has come from Duxbury so...

Didn’t Duxbury pretty much say Capoue was a bad apple? It seems to me it’s a way of continually excusing what’s happened and blaming it on bad apples who are no longer here, but it’s always revealed at the start of each new season we had more of them in the season just gone.

The bad apples last season were Scott, Gino, Mogi and Giaretta. The players were just victims of their actions. The bad apples are the ones running the club.

Reckon it was about March time - seemed to be less videos after that and the match day ones were really short with hardly any footage in .

And Capoue has apparently told Gaspar he 'must sign for Watford'. Worrying if true.

I think though there must also be a bit about a squad that regain premier league status seeing the additions not just as replacements in the first eleven. But also as not having the connection and application to improve the club. Certainly you could not say that of players who joined after the previous promotion like Prodl. If we had been relegated perhaps similar accusations would have been flung at one season players like Jurado.

And like wise had we done well or even been competitive last season there wouldn’t be so much heads about how bad the atmosphere was etc .

But no great surprise the modern day footballer didn’t take to two old school managers when morale was already low and as TUT says some players weren’t being selected .

I guess last season we were more conscious of the financial situation following previous relegation and risk of covid lingering. Therefore many of the new additions were in the form of loans or deals that could cancel at end of the year. Great for quick and easy cost reduction but not for committed squad members.
After our first Pozzo promotion we had the same scattergun approach to signings (Oulare, Diamanti, that large speedy forward from Roma(?)) but the hits like Prodl, Britos, Holebas, Behrami had longer deals and were utterly committed to the club.

The promising thing about these interviews is that they feel those times are behind us. Of course the signings of Bayo, the "reasons" behind selling Cucho and then the Luther business suggest otherwise. One step at a time but we really have to sharpen up on all fronts if we are to ever find stability and rebuild some trust.

We still wasted a vast amount of money on Tufan, Rose, King, Sissoko, Kucka etc. I’d rather next time we just made 2 or 3 additions from champo and below at 5-10 million. They either go up dramatically in value or at least be happy to play after relegation and be on lower wages to boot with resale value.

The likes of Tufan/Rose is just flushing money down the drain. Unfortunately we are incapable of identifying and recruiting lower league talent. Either that or refuse to because Bayat doesn’t get paid.

    We agree !
If, big IF, we get promoted, I'd hope Edwards asks for 2-3 significant upgrades that will really improve the 11, rather than 8 or so cheap punts, 2-3 of which will be excellent and the remainder will fall by the wayside having ruined squad morale. Plus of course decent replacements for Sarr/Dennis should they move on.

One of the best ways to remedy this is to kick Mogi to the curb. Get a new scout team together that begin to regain some of our famous "one of the best scouting networks in football" tag back again. I know money has a massive say on who we can get each time, but we never fully seem to scout the people we do get and throw extended contracts at aging mercenaries. This has to change - especially if we do get promoted within the next two seasons. If we fail to go up in that time (assuming we have not been sold to a new owner who gives us a financial boost), we may well have to fall back on our youth and whatever is left of our teams at that point. Those "teams" need to be ones we know can take us forward - not just here for a wage and would rather be anywhere else.
