Sierralta situation needs clarifying. Do they think fans don’t notice the best CB in the club completely disappearing?
Remember the infamous "Watford are pygmies living in a land of giants" quote the first time we got promoted and then we proceeded to beat them 3 times that season. There are still a hardcore of their support who believe it is their inalienable right to be among the footballing elite. Some of their fans confuse passion with blinkered idiocy. I hope we spank their ar$es but home matches against them often end up as unsatisfactory draws.
This Sierralta situation is an absolute joke. Our best centre back last season and our only centre back who is young with the potential to actually drastically improve, and he's being dropped from the squad entirely as we play that woeful old div Cathcart. Ridiculous.
I can only assume Xisco is playing Cathcart and Cleverley again so as to save his stronger players for the tougher games - but why isn't Sierralta even on the bench?
I see Bruce has picked Willock. Desperation dripping off the geordies. Fingers crossed he's miles from 100% fit.
Apart from Cathcart I am happy with that side, bench looks better too. Like others I do wonder what is going on with the Sierralta situation though.
Going by reports, Sierralta was okay against Stoke midweek, didn't really do much wrong. Why is he being frozen out? Is it really because of his OG vs Wolves? Is his mind elsewhere and he's not 100% focused? Does he saucy snaps of Xisco? Whatever it is, we need to know because he is much less error prone than Cathcart, who has more bad days than good. It really is confusing.
Agreed, cleverley deserves to keep his spot on the back of last week. Great to see kiko backing up after potential injury Cathcart over sierralta….. dunno about that however Back the boys regardless CMYU
BBC says we are playing 4231 which is definitely preferable to 4141 in my opinion. The key will be what we do if we can't get in behind. If we can't do that I'd like to see us pass our way through these muppets in the final third. Big test of our survival credentials today. Classic banana skin. Hope we can find a way to win it!
Tbf I get the Cleverley pick, I think it's just about defensible, but I'm flabbergasted at what's happening to Sierralta
We’ve been abysmal. And the ref is s***. And whatever people may think of Bachmann and his authoritativeness: he saves that. For sure.
2 goals from open play in 213 minutes for QPR. You do know that football is about scoring goals right?
I feel Foster should have kept that shot out but that may be a little harsh. That said they telegraphed that shot from outside the box on every single one of their corners. Even after the goal we still didn’t put anyone out the for the next set piece. I also don’t understand why we don’t keep someone up field on corners.
We are so so lucky to get a point from that, but it was such a breathless end we could also easily have won all 3 points completely undeservingly. Disappointed Tufan overcooked what looked a relatively simple pass to put Sarr in at the end.
Dreadful team selection Dreadful first half Dreadful 2nd half Just dreadful We've taken 1 point from 6 v Wolves and Newcastle, dreadful, and probably not good enough to stay up
Amazingly that’s the first draw at the Vic under Xisco. (And only the 4th in his reign. Last one was April 5)
Massive opportunity passed up in one of the top 3 or 4 games you’d target this season to get the required points thanks to an embarrassingly bad non-performance in the first half in particular - second half was somewhat improved against a defence featuring Ciaran Clark and Isaac Hayden playing as a centre back, but context is pretty key there. The only single bright spark was Tufan, and I hope Davy has seen enough of him now to appreciate his 100% compared to Cleverley’s, but whilst he should be starting from now on, it won’t be anywhere near enough on its own with this kind of clownish non-coaching.
Stonking football match. Dreadful first half, we looked destined for relegation. Second half we looked like a mid table team and that’s what I think we will be. We will continue to improve as this bunch of strangers start to familiarise themselves with each other. Ozan Tufan was a huge upgrade on Cleverley.
Etebo was fantastic when he came on, should have started. Tufan, couple of misplaced passes, with more match fitness, he'd have an assist to set up Sarr that would have won us the game. Trash first half, better in the second.
Had we won that it would have been daylight robbery . Tufan, Etebo and Pedro made a difference but Newcastle cut us open too easily. Foster was MOTM.
Tufan has to play in midfield when hes up to speed. Looks like the driving force forward from middle of the park that Kucko and Cleverley aren't. Prior to that and the 1 on 1 at the end Newcastle shouldve won that. A point gained i think.
