How was he responsible. We lost a very winnable aeriel 50/50 from his kick out, Salah made a mug of Rose & Mane just strolled through the gap between our 2 'CBs'.
Not that his distribution was good enough overall, but it's unfair to blame him for that goal.

We are absolutely terrible but calling us the worst team ever in the Premier League is a bit far at this stage. We aren't even bottom of the league. Infact we aren't actually in the relegation zone. There are 3 clubs below us that are yet to win a game this season and one of those clubs we beat comfortably at their stadium.

It didn't go well yesterday, did it?

I just avoided the game as long as I could.

Worst team in PL history are Derby - but only by the record low points tally. Media love slating teams who get battered by Money bags Liverpool. Although as myself and others have said, we do deserve to get slated for the performance yesterday, regardless of the opposition, it was pathetic.

As I say last week we were being slated for sacking a manger who had made a "good start" and "we were doing fine"

Suddenly after one admittedly very poor performance (against a wonderful team) we are the worse.

Maybe they meant worse performance ever or worse lack of effort shown.

That I can see although other teams have lost by worse as have we!

I agree with you Since63, I don't get all this hatred for Foster on here, he was without a doubt one of our best players yesterday and does not deserve all the **** he is getting on here.

People seem to be slagging Ben off for talking to Salah after the game and for apparently having Salah in his fantasy team, they also seem to hate him for having a u tube channel WTF is that all about why is any of that relevant or a problem?

As long as he does his job which is keeping the ball out of the net, and despite the score line yesterday he actually did his job very well as I don't think he can be blamed for any of their goals and on top of that he pulled off some great saves to keep the score line down too, so why should any of that other **** matter?

Oh! and another bitch many of you seem to have is that alledgedly Foster gave away tickets to Liverpool fans in Watford fan areas, and don't know how true that is, but if he did that is not a good thing and should be investigated by the club.

Having said all that and assuming he might of done what some of you are claiming, how does that reflect on the way he performed on the pitch? Oh! I know how!!! IT DOESN'T

So lets cut out all this slagging of Fosters performances on the pitch, because it is not fair or true.

Therefore by all means dislike him for these other things if you really must, as no one is saying you have to like him, but don't let your personal hatred manifest itself by slagging him for things he is not guilty of, as he is still the best GK we have and his on pitch performances have been pretty good on the whole, so he is not **** like many of you are saying he is o_O

I seen Keys and Gray live on Bein Sport and he definitely meant what he said. That was that we are the worst team ever to play in the league. But you are bang on the mark we have 7 points which isn't disastrous and before yesterday were on a point per game.

  8. GoingDown

    GoingDown "The Stability"

Away fans in the home end used to happen all the time. At varying levels based on the popularity of opposition we faced. Started to die off when we got promoted last tome, I guess because of the difficulty of getting tickets. Obviously back in force now we are utter ***** again. It’s one of the main reasons I avoid games against the ‘big 6’. It’s usually awful on and off the pitch.

No surprise really. We’ve always had the flimsiest supporter base in the world. Fans that happily attend games in other team’s kit, clap the opposition and be very content about being bang average or, as we are now, arguably the worst team in the PL for a long long time.

There’s a beautiful irony about a forum member posting a long message about how we ‘can’t compete’ with a Liverpool side when we beat them the last time we played them when they’d won 17 games in a row. Another thing Watford fans are good at - making excuses to cover up lack of effort at every level of the club.

It’s not the lack of competitiveness that’s driving fans away, it’s the increased lethargy in our own club. We’ve all been there before. However, some fans and forum members have pinned their colours to the mast so strongly and can’t row back now or admit that they were wrong about how the club is run. So now they are moving to ‘the PL is unfair, our owner isn’t rich enough to have a squad of players that care’ when 3 years ago we should have finished 7th in that same league.

The players don’t care, the owners don’t seem to care, the fans and the much lauded supporters group don’t care (happy to mock the team openly now), prominent owner backing forum members are saying they don’t care. As I said yesterday, is there anyone left that does care?

Yes, they're two very different things. I've both brought friends to games and vice versa but when you're in the wrong end, you allow yourself a quiet smile if you score and you don't cheer when they do.

I would guess that most problems are caused when tickets are sold onto randoms as they don't have to care about embarrassing the people they're with and revel in annoying the home fans around them.

Yet last week they said how daft it was to sack a manager who was doing well and made a solid start.

Wish they'd make their mind up!

Or maybe they think we ought to be on 0 points and lucky to be in any games at all which was a point some fans were making as we were being ridiculed for saying performances weren't good enough.

Not sure anyone actually missed out on a ticket as I presume Foster along with other players will be allocated seats.

For all we know it might have been one of Foster's mates who got this guy a ticket and he is just blaming Ben?

Of course the idea is not for people to get them and then sit in the home end celebrating goals for the away team and that won't be a good look for Foster or whoever passed the ticket on.

I wonder if this bloke will try it next week when Liverpool play Man U...

He might find himself in a worse situation than just being kicked out!

His level of performance wasn't good. I don't think any save that did make was above routine. Thought he could've done much better with the third, then dropped a routine cross and was lucky it ricocheted off Rose's back otherwise it would've been a tap in.

But by far the worst thing is his distribution. From blasting it straight into touch, to that ridiculous double handed throw he did to throw it straight to a Liverpool player.

Both keepers have issues but Foster's decline is so painfully apparent, might as well go with Bachmann.

I mean putting an opposition player as your captain in your fantasy football team and especially putting him in the week we were playing against him, when he wasn't in the team before just shows such a soft mindset and lack of ambition, it just looks to me that it is a bit of a role over and die attitude. Which is exactly what we got yesterday.

Just my opinion but his distribution was terrible and I can't really remember Foster making a save that was anything special.

My view wasn't the best in terms of perspective/depth. It appeared at the time he miss-hit it (i was in line with him low down when he kicked it). Having watched the replay i agree he was far less responsible than i first thought (and a great pass from Salah) but it still wasn't a great kick from Foster.

I should add i still think he's our best keeper, just had a bad day.

I'm a bit surprised by how shocked some people seem to be about how we played yesterday.
Just look at the defence. Masina - been clear for years that he is not good enough for the Premier League. Cathcart - same. Troost - underwhelmed in the Championship last year, not good enough. Kiko -I don't think he's as bad as the previous three but still hardly good enough for the Prem. Rose - prem player in my opinion but certainly didn't do well yesterday alongside the others. Kabasele is hardly any better and Sierralta is unproven at this level.
The rest of the squad are probably fine for a club in our lowly position, we're not going to have a squad of world beaters at this point.
But that defence is rancid and whenever we play it, we will lose.
And playing it against Salah and co was only ever going to go one way.
I'm sure the Pozzos/Duxbury work hard to make this club the best it can be. I don't understand why, year after year, they choose to nuke our chances by not buying decent defenders.

I thought Dennis was at least trying yesterday compared to most. It really didn’t look good to the fans though when at kick off for the second half Dennis animated to Mane yesterday that he would like his shirt after the game!. This really shouldn’t be a priority just before kicking off. At least go souvenir hunting after the game,

I didn't see much of the game yesterday as I was out for lunch for my mother's birthday - just the first 20 minutes on my phone, but I masochistically just caught up with the entirety of this thread, and all I can really say is: Gino and Scott do business properly.

Also @The Voice of Reason if you're so desperate to suck off Foster, go do it somewhere else on your own time - he's a substandard goalie who has been increasingly substandard for several seasons now, and the idea that he 'did his primary job of keeping the ball out of the net' when we've just conceded five goals is a laughably stupid thing to say, and akin to some form of soviet hypernormalisation (Yes, that's my new favourite analogy!). Add to that, of course, off the pitch he seems to be consistently going out of his way to mug off the club and its fans as much as he possibly can - it's genuinely inexplicable, and frankly if we had anyone with any leadership/awareness/integrity/cojones either in the dressing room or in the club hierarchy, at this point they'd be telling him to cut the shyt and that he's no longer allowed to film in or around/feature club fixtures or training in his videos. If I was one of the players at Colney with him as he gurns his way through, probably cracking some hilarious banter about how many times those great little Liverpool lads bamboozled him, with the knowledge that he captained Salah against himself, I'd be employing the old 1950s tactic of 'charging the goalie' every single time the ball came near him, even if I'm the most lightweight, floatiest dweeb of a jinky attacker we have.

Is Foster the sole root of our problems? No, incredibly far from it. But he doesn't have to be for someone to choose to criticise him, or highlight how embarrassing his behaviour is, let alone the awful standard of his goalkeeping (this is for the roasters here whose only retort is to screech 'FOSTER ISN'T THE REASON THE CLUB IS SHYT WHY ARE YOU BLAMING HIM IT'S NOT FOSTER'S FAULT' [delete as appropriate any player/issue you pick that isn't a in-depth, intersectional, multi-thousand word dissertation on every individual and collective failing of the Pozzo regime and Watford as a football club in 2021]). Also, I've talked about all of those other issues at length too - many in the summer when I and those who did got pelters for accurately predicting exactly what has now come to pass, both in terms of coach, transfer strategy and current squad player level.

We were always going to lose to Liverpool, frankly - except also we could have not. It is theoretically possible. But either way, from what I did see, to the stats, to the universal response both on here and from pundits/commentators/people's Grannies, if we are going to lose it's the manner in which we do it, and yesterday we appear to have done it as pathetically and shambolically as was possible.

This is where Claudio shows what he is compared to Xisco, and actually learns something from a performance/lack of one. If he corrects most things next week, he can be forgiven this strange brain-explosion of a set-up and performance.

Finally, to bang the old drum, I'm also still #TeamRose, partially for his underlying quality and partially the unbelievably appalling nature of his understudy, but I remain (and am in fact increasingly) disgusted by the fact that he cannot stop being fat as fucck - an insane indictment of our fitness and conditioning staff, and a stain on his own professionalism. There is no excuse. He's just had two weeks without a fixture, for fucck's sake. Put the doughnut down.

And I have gone to Watford/Liverpool matches in the past with Mr HH, who is a Liverpool fan. (Thank god I didn’t take him yesterday) However, on that occasion, and on the occasions you allude to above, the opposition fans are sitting with a Watford fan they know and I am sure were respectful to the fans around them. Had I taken my husband yesterday, he wouldn’t have been jumping up and celebrating every Liverpool goal in the Rookery. (Quite apart from anything else, he would be my ex husband by the end of the 90 minutes if he did)
From what I’ve seen, it seems Foster just handed out tickets to pretty random Liverpool fans who were then disrespectful to the home fans around them.
If I just gave my ticket to a Liverpool fan who I knew vaguely and who was then thrown out of the seat for celebrating an opposition goal inappropriately in the home end you can bet your bottom dollar I would be hearing from the club.

Edit: Just seen that @Steve Leo Beleck made the same point in a post above.

Should have been pensioned off last season. Gomes that is a professional to the end. Dahlberg as the number two fighting Bachmann for the start. Another soon to be over the hill player we have kept on past their sell by date. And why have Elliot ? Give the role to Parkes perhaps. Or Angelini.

It bemuses me how we are so attracted to players who are nearing the twilight of their careers. Gomes - brilliant servant and one of our best despite the FA Cup final loss, he should not be counted in this.

Foster - knows he is passed his best, mind is elsewhere - should of gone last year
Elliot - another who is standing in the way of a more youthful keeper who could gain vast experience
Deeney - ok yes he's gone but he was kept on past his prime on a huge wage
Murray - almost able to apply for his Sun life claim yet he was still brought in on the cheap

In fact, you could probably count most of our squad are in their mid to late 30s. Nothing wrong with that, but we have an academy for a reason. Why develop young hungry players who would probably give their arm to play for our first team and ship them off on loans to other clubs and never hear from them again? Tom Dele was one who looked pretty good - he got injured yes, but he recovered and instead of gradually bleeding him back into the side we ship him off to Reading. We need youth to drive our club forward - to mix with the old pro's we already have. If this never changes, we will just become a retirement club for players who just want to have a easy season then retire.

Well certainly the guy said he got tickets via Ben Foster.

Now they could have been through a 3rd party who got tickets from Ben on a complementary basis as all players get some.

Guess unless something is said we won’t know and can only make presumptions .
