Sondland’s testimony is huge. He’s directly implicated Trump and cronies, and unlike other witnesses the GOP is going to find it impossible to discredit him as a Trump hater. Sondland donated ridiculous sums to Trump’s campaign. Sondland is clearly in “don’t get sent to prison” mode. Now that he has squealed we can expect to see more follow to save themselves. Nunes face was priceless.
Ah, someone snipped it and slowed it down. https://twitter.com/bubbaprog/status/1197189560662409216?s=20 Good viewing.
Ken Starr (yes, THAT Ken Starr) starting to turn on Trump. https://www.thedailybeast.com/ken-s...white-house-after-sondland-testimony?ref=home Meanwhile, real image of Trump's notes at a press conference: Absolutely insane that this man is still in office.
Are you a fan of the west's military-industrial complex? Have you been pining for the days of abundant war in the middle east? Did you despair when Trump said he didn't want more protracted American interventions in that region? Just three days in and 2020 brings you glad tidings! Trump has decided to stick a rocket up the backside of an Iranian war criminal general visiting Iraq and now the whole tinderbox is about to explode. Yay!
Meanwhile one of the debates going on - is Trump a strategic genius who is doing this to win re-election. Been very heavy on the mute button on my twitter past 24 hours.
Aren't we all glad that warmonger Killareeeeeeeee Klinton didn't get elected? She would have undoubtedly have caused war with Iran. I'm just going to leave this here. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/141604554855825408
Because she did a bang up job on Libya....I know where to go to pick up slaves. They're both as bad as each other.
Libya is primarily Obama's mess, which isn't to say that Clinton wouldn't have done similar herself. Still, you missed the point entirely. Trump voters have been justifying their vote for him since the election on the basis that he'd be non-interventionalist and wouldn't start wars ("yes, he's bad but at least he won't cause war with Iran..."), unlike Clinton. Not exactly working out that way, is it? And unlike Trump, I think we can be fairly certain Clinton wouldn't have emboldened white supremacists, separated children from parents and shut them into cages where they die from illnesses like flu, wouldn't have dismantled the EPA, wouldn't have walked away from the Paris accords, wouldn't continue to run a corrupt criminal enterprise and wouldn't appoint a group of advisors who would largely all end up indicted or in jail. She wouldn't have mocked the disabled, disparaged gold star families, attempted to shake down foreign governments to investigate political rivals, or ordered staff to refuse to testify to Congress. She wouldn't have undermined US allies and kowtowed to traditional geopolitical adversaries like Russia, wouldn't have undermined her own secret service and discarded their intelligence in favour of information from a historically hostile foreign power, and wouldn't have flagrantly violated the US emoluments clause on a daily basis. She wouldn't have entered into futile trade wars that have required enormous taxpayer funded bailouts to prevent entire industries from going belly up (which hasn't even worked because there have been record number of bankruptcies in impacted industries). She wouldn't have passed a tax cut for the rich that has ballooned the US deficit and transferred even greater economic burden to be placed on unborn future generations. And the sad thing here is I could go on. This isn't remotely close to exhaustive. I don't care for Clinton at all, particularly her hawkishness. I could rant for hours about the legacy of her 94 crime bill support (it was Bill's...er, bill, but she pushed for it hard) and its impact on mass incarceration and the disproportionate racial impact it has had. She would have been my bottom preference out of all the candidates running for the Dems that year (including Lincoln "I'm collecting membership of every possible US political party" Chafee and Jim Webb, neither of whom I liked much). But pretending she's in any way equatable to Trump is disingenuous. The man is completely loathsome, which is bad enough, but he is also tearing down the fundamental institutions that the US has operated on since inception. She might be Leeds, but he's Luton. And it goes without saying there's no comparison there.
