Andreas Bjelland. Got a surname that lends itself to 'humour' on here. Rejected a contract at Brentford and leaving this summer as wants to pay in the PL and has interest according to SSN. Denmark international. Defender. Andy Scott connection no doubt. No actual rumours we are interested but not a stretch to think we may be... Interestingly Sky saying Brentford are looking at Wilmot as his replacement.
Good spot. Has a certain logic to it. I could see us signing both players, then loaning Wilmot to Brentford.
What extraordinarily long fingers JH has. Reminded me of the work of his fellow Greek: http://www.photokaboom.com/images/P...rist_Carrying_the_Cross_hb_1975.1_cropped.jpg With this natural advantage, he would surely excel at those aspects of the game involving the holding & throwing of the ball.
Whilst I see your point...Ben Mee, Tarkowski, Duffy, Dunk, Lascelles, Schindler...all good CB's better than we have who have come from the league below. Theres likely more too, these were just off the top of my head.
Reading the comments on the Brentford website and speaking to a couple of Brentford fans I know, there is a distinct feeling that he's a solid Championship defender, but no more than that. He lacks pace is another thing that's been said. He seems to be another Prodl type to me. Not sure he will be an upgrade on what we have, so I'd be surprised if there was anything in this.
He's had serious injuries as well, so you can see why the club are so keen. This rumour is so underwhelming that it's bound to be true. Britos' replacement I'd imagine
Before anyone gets carried away, so far there is no rumour linking WFC to this player in ANY media outlets. It was pure speculation by Burnsy in the opening post. (Not the worst BTW Burnsy but some of the responses seem to assume a stronger tie than you linking a player who plays in a position a good number on this forum want strengthening, who wants to play in the EPL after rejecting contract offers from Brentford, where Andy Scott worked before coming here and he'd be on a free transfer.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/30/sports/soccer/lyngby-bk-bankruptcy.html An interesting story about the Friends of Lyngby - in which Bjelland rates an honourable mention.
Championship level defender. Normally I'd be bang against this, but since it could mean our 9th choice centre back Mr Cholevas will no longer be needed, it's a yes from me
What about Ki from Swansea? https://www.swanseacity.com/news/ki-says-thank-you Leaving them on a bosman. When I was looking up passing stats in the PL to compare Doucoure with a couple of weeks back he ranked really highly. 5 years PL experience, got a bit of long shot on him. Saves letters on the shirt printing. What more would we want?
I like watching Ki play, generally keeps it simple and pretty effective in what he does, but I can't imagine a first XI with him, Capoue and Hughes in it being dynamic enough over a season. They're all one paced despite other qualities.
Would luv Vydra back but never going to happen. Top scorer this season with 22 goals. Much better pedigree than Gray. Why did we get rid of him again? Still young and despite what others say about his time at WBA would cut it in the EPL given the right service.
Vydra only scored 5 away goals last season from open play so not sure he would solve our away day woes, bear in mind the quality of Championship defending and that they also play 23 away games in that div
I suspect Fulham will take him permanently if they go up or Newcastle will take him back and try and make it work for him up there again. But if Fulham don’t go up and he’s made available...he’s better than what we have, can actually score goals and crucially, can play up front on his own. Could even trade him for one of ours maybe with Newcastle.
Difference is, Deeney just likes to play hard. I actually think Mitrovic has the ability and willingness to kill you and your family if needs be.
