Not sure I would have been so patient with these morons. I completely agree with their point of view, I just completely disagree with the way they are going about it. I expect they were happily tweeting and instagramming on their iphones oblivious to the fact that they are also causign the problems.

I don't know the exact details of their protest but hasn't the government since the Labour days been actively supporting a home insulation programme? I take it there is more to it than people's homes though.

    Some good reading here:
    https://www.insulatebritain.com/

Their techincal report goes into a lot of detail, but they mention heat pumps as an option which don't really work well in the UK given the aftern viriable and chaotic climate. They use more energy and don't cope well with short notice needs.. So I don't "completely agree" with their point of view. Promoting insualtion to reduce energy consumption is a noble cause I can get behind however.

Insulate, where possible, use a zero carbon energy provider etc etc.
Failing that, scrape the protestors off the tarmac and set light to them.

Housing associations should be forced to insulate & upgrade as part of their agreement with the council. Maybe that's why this chap has a bee in his bonnet.
Mind you an electrician in a housing association home? I've never met a poor (in monatary terms) electrician. Infact I know one that has just swapped his Aston for a Merc GT.

It amazes me how more of the militant groups don't see this. I am all for animal welfare, for example, but I find PETA to be absolute morons in terms of the ridiculous things they do. It only undermines their cause.

******* people off will only ever set you back.

""Pretty much we are all back at work, because I think that's what we need to be in our particular industry," he says. "Obviously it varies from industry to industry, but in financial services it's more important to be in the office because its a very live industry"."

    What utter ********.

There is only one reason most people need to be at a place of work, and that's because they need to physically touch something there.

If you're not physically interacting with things you can do your job from anywhere with a laptop, a phone and a VPN.

The petrol thing is pretty frustrating, there is plenty of fuel, just not enough drivers, but as Covid/Brexit have taught us, things are designed to run at normal capacity and not much more for obvious reasons. As soon as people start panic buying it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. There were some slight delays in getting petrol to some stations, but the whole thing spirals out of control because of absolute idiots when it was totally unnecessary.

Of course the media don’t help by advertising it and starting the whole thing off on the first place.

I’m going to wait for 2 weeks before I fill up and take advantage of all the “prices slashed to clear” deals because everyone has filled up their cars and has 6 jerrycans stored in the garage. That’s how supply and demand works, right ?

Saw a pretty unpleasant scene at the park earlier. I live near a big country park and most people in the town walk their dogs there, you get a mix of people who can control their dogs and some who can’t. Par for the course.

There was a woman there today with two tiny, fluffy white dogs running some way behind her while she had a leisurely cycle on her bike along the path. I noticed a couple of times that they were running up to dogs on leads and getting in their faces. This does my head in, I’ve got a big dog who can be quite reactive on the lead and basically it looks bad if she gets excited by a smaller dog. So I never put her in the situation, instead avoiding paths and letting her off in large grassy areas to play with her ball and she’s got great recall.

Anyways, woman is cycling a good fifty feet ahead of her two dogs when BANG! A largish dog, looked lab sized lurched out of a bush and got one in it’s mouth like a rabbit. There’s a brook behind the bushes and it was with a family sat back there. Little white dog was dead before they could even react as they came spilling through the bush screaming. Looked like the big dog was on a lead too but had enough slack to jump out.

Woman on bike sees this, leaps off her bike to run over and absolutely stacks it. She’s screaming and pouring blood from her mouth. So that’s one dead dog, another one that’ll be put down and a woman looking badly hurt. I stuck around for a minute watching from a distance to make sure it didn’t kick off but the family were helping her and looked shellshocked.

It’s just another reminder to always always please please please keep your dog in sight. No villains in this story, just really upsetting that they all let their guards down and then in the blink of an eye everything went to ****.

    That is absolutely horrendous.

I’ve got two miniature Dachsunds, so I’m always aware of their size and this sort of thing potentially happening.

One of them is a a rescue and a right gobby cow, she has a go at every dog she sees so I’m alway mindful of always keeping her on the lead, or if she’s not on the lead, within arms length because something like that could happen at literally any time.

I know you said nobody is to blame but I’ve never understood people who ride their bike while walking their dog, I just can’t get my head round the laziness of it.

I hope you’re ok because I witnessed a similar thing happen to one of our family dogs when I was kid and it was a horrible experience.

Ah yeah I’m fine thanks mate.

It was really dumb thing to do, I guess it’s an attitude of ‘my dogs couldn’t/wouldn’t hurt a fly so they can do whatever they like’

I don’t know how these things work but I just assume if there’s any kind of police involvement then that’s curtains for the dog that bit. I hope not, assuming it was a one off.

I’m pretty sure there are no laws about dogs attacking other dogs. Rightly or wrongly there are a number of ongoing campaigns about it, but I’m pretty sure the dog that attacked the other dog will be fine.

A dog dangerously out of control in a public place can include attacks on other dogs.

I bow to your better judgment, but as the dog was on a lead it doesn’t really sound like they were dangerously out of control. It sounds like a horrible situation which was really nobody’s fault, other than maybe the owner of the small dogs letting them get out of her control.

Really? Surely killing another dog amounts to dangerously out of control?

I see plenty of dogs on leads whose owners can’t control them.

I saw this on the news only the other day:

    https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-58461897.amp

If you read the detail it talks about it getting the law changed so that dogs attacking other dogs becomes a crime.

  32. Arakel

Doesn't matter if they're on a lead or not, if they attack and kill another animal (or attack a human) they can potentially be destroyed. As with all things, it'll depends on the facts of the situation.

I don’t think the BBC article is correct. Or rather it mischaracterises the issue. There’s a big push at the moment from some dog owners/charities to have every crime against their dog (theft, injury etc) specifically outlawed rather than using existing laws. Plus I think the police have a policy of not getting too involved in dog v dog incidents where there was no threat to a person. But the law as it stands allows it.
