No surprise it’s kicking off !

Gah! Looks like we’ve blown CL qualification then! It’s been a strange mixture of running out of steam, some bottling, some brilliance, a lot of injuries and a couple of wasted opportunities.

Hopefully we’ll have a deeper squad next season to make a better go of the EL. It isn’t over until it’s over but I’ve not got much faith in Burnley or Palace stopping Liverpool.

I really enjoyed being the CL last time but we went in as a top seed then so we actually won a few games. Not qualifying for next season probably ensures a big sale. If it had to be anyone I’d say we wouldn’t massively miss Maddison or Soyuncu. Losing Ndidi or Tielemans would be a real shame.

Going by some recent games involving bottom half teams, I have to say TUT is right in that there's a lot of quality up there and it will be very tough just to survive.

In a 3-2 thriller at Selhurst Park, there was a staggering total of 42 shots between two below average Prem sides, and tonight we have 17th place Brighton coming from two goals down to beat Man City.

Still it will make it all the more exciting if we do get the recruitment right and retain the team spirit in the squad, it does seem a more interesting league than it was after we were promoted to it last time.

The Leeds approach of creating total chaos seems to work very well.

Palace, Burnley and Wolves look to be reaching the end of their cycles in the league. They’re all very negative sides. I think trying to go toe to toe with the top half sides is the way to go for a newly promoted club, none of them can defend consistently!

Sad thing is Chelsea wouldn’t care less about losing the cup final compared to the reaction had not won today.

Champions league is the target for them more than anything else.

I’d love to see us qualify for the Champions League purely because it would guarantee the money to resist having to sell players.

Do I have a burning desire to watch us lose 6-0 to Bayern Munich? Not particularly.

Do I want us to be able to hold on to a squad good enough to win a domestic cup and potentially piss on a few big teams’ chips in the league? Absolutely.

Probably like us and getting promoted !

We’ll likely be pretty rubbish but needed it for the money and future prospects.

Zaha wouldn’t improve an top 4/6 team but he’d be too expensive as back up.

He’s a bit like Docuore, only good enough for that narrow sliver of clubs just below who want to ‘push on’ but he’s not actually good enough to help them do that and would just be a very expensive way for them to tread water.

A poor mans Mahrez and an expensive mans Walcott.

Better for clubs like that to spend the same or less on more unproven players with a lot more upside potential.

West Ham will potentially miss out on Europe altogether which will be a shame for them.

It looks that way, but as we know points in the bag are better than games in hand. I can see one of Burnley or Palace getting something from them. Let’s hope so at least.

    Dear footballing gods,

Please do whatever you can to stop the scousers from finishing in the top 4. The rest of us would be forever grateful.

Not sure about that. I don't mind their team or manager but I'm not a big fan of their owners, supporters or the 'London' stadium.

It probably all comes down to tonight's game. Hopefully Chris Wood & his plucky otter sidekick can knacker 'Pool's season.

Further to Palace’s squad woes they’ve now lost Eze until the new year.

If so I’d rather it was Burnley because:
    1. Palace and their fans are worse than Liverpool
    2. If Burnley manage to beat Liverpool, then that’s one less team on the list with us of those that didn’t have the “double” done to them by anyone. (v badly written but you know what I mean)

Assume that means they won't be selling Zaha (again).

Huge managerial appointment needed there with so many out of contract. Their previously awful starts have been rescued by Pulis, Allardyce and Hodgson so they are now out of old English firefighters.

Spurs and Everton fans probably wish they hadn’t been allowed back to the ground !

Spurs fans were charged £60 too.
