It's interesting material for science fiction and occurs as a theme in several from Clarke and others. Chariots of the Gods. Before I even knew about Daniken I did once claim in a RS class at the Grammar that all the miracles ascribed to Jesus were down to the fact he was an advanced alien with amazing technology. :D

That there is life in the Universe indeed this Galaxy is not in doubt. What level it is and what it is based upon we do not yet know. And given the difficulties in attaining faster than light travel, the sheer distances, all sorts of unfortunate mishaps in a planetary civilization evolving we may never get the chance to even say hello or in turn receive a missive from this part of the cosmos.

Von Daniken belongs to a bygone age, before social media, when such witterings were simply entertainment for schoolboys (everyone at my school was aware of Chariots of the Gawdz) and no one took it seriously.

If he was popular now, Andrew Bridgen would be asking questions in the House and Hooter would be demanding why the libtards are so afraid of looking at the evidence.

I had forgotten all about Eric - read all his stuff at school. Nazca plains et al.
Another guilty pleasure were works by a mystic type chap called Lobsang Rampa - or something close to that.

Reminds me of the section in the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy on Veet Voojagig. Note final line.

Veet Voojagig was a quiet young student at the University of Maximegalon, who pursued a brilliant academic career studying ancient philology, transformational ethics and the wave harmonic theory of historical perception, and then, after a night of drinking Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters with Zaphod Beeblebrox, became increasingly obsessed with the problem of what had happened to all the biros he'd bought over the past few years.

There followed a long period of painstaking research during which he visited all the major centres of biro loss throughout the galaxy and eventually came up with a quaint little theory which quite caught the public imagination at the time. Somewhere in the cosmos, he said, along with all the planets inhabited by humanoids, reptiloids, fishoids, walking treeoids and superintelligent shades of the colour blue, there was also a planet entirely given over to biro life forms. And it was to this planet that unattended biros would make their way, slipping away quietly through wormholes in space to a world where they knew they could enjoy a uniquely biroid lifestyle, responding to highly biro-oriented stimuli, and generally leading the biro equivalent of the good life.

And as theories go this was all very fine and pleasant until Veet Voojagig suddenly claimed to have found this planet, and to have worked there for a while driving a limousine for a family of cheap green retractables, whereupon he was taken away, locked up, wrote a book, and was finally sent into tax exile, which is the usual fate reserved for those who are determined to make a fool of themselves in public.

I agree with you on this subject. Absolutely. It is an amusing fiction, but that is all.

The only thing, from my point of view, is, you appear to be equating this with people asking questions about issues with the vaccine. If I were to equate it with anyone, it would be those who appear to be trusting a government they wouldn't trust on any other matter, and big Pharma.

Unusual for the left. I don't think that is controversial to say.

And not a comment from anyone on the common sense (in my opinion) enquiries mentioned by Bridgen.

How can people not be bothered by his claim that JCVI members have over a billion pounds of investment in big Pharma?

Charming couple found guilty of plotting to destroy 5G masts and encouraging attacks on MPs.

Darren Reynolds called for the annihilation of Jewish people and described David Amess MP as a ‘traitor’ after his death. He was converting replica weapons for use when the balloon went up.

His partner Christine Grayson became absorbed in conspiratorial chat rooms (likely source of the high quality information so beloved by certain individuals) and told the court,

Glad you are not shying away from such topics. Frankly their profile sounds very familiar.

They are anti semitic racists who think Johnson and Gove should be eliminated, according to your article. Sounds like a typical pair of modern day leftie/eco/anti capitalist activists.

If that is the definition of "conspiracy loonies" these days, then you might think that people who have said or defended racist things on here, or defended anti-Semitism by a political party, or who demand the removal of Boris Johnson, might take offense at your post.

I will be chortling for the next few hours, probably along with a few other members:D

Oh dear, has this touched a nerve being so close to the currents you swim in?

They were right wingers with admiration for Breivik (a right wing terrorist who slaughtered dozens of young left wing Norwegians) and ultra nationalist racist Brenton Tarrant, who live-streamed himself murdering Muslims in a mosque in Christchurch. They were anti the UK Government simply on the basis of its vaccine policy. They were the culmination of every deranged and hostile extreme right wing, conspiratorial view.

No wonder you are embarrassed and come out accusing others. Hooter’s children.

Fair's fair Moose. You get to smear the political right, I get to use your own post to smear the political left. That is the style of discourse YOU chose. No?

And, par for the course, you are lying again.

I am not accusing anyone, only referring to people's posts that members were able to read on this forum. I have pointed out the contradictory right wing tendencies of some lefties on here before, but always quoting the words by which such impressions were given. These people, in the article, are unhinged extremist lunatics, as left wing as they are right wing (nazis are just commies in racism flava - and what does the destruction of capialist infrastructure have to do with 'right wing'?); theY are the Red Brigade and Badder Meinhoff wannabees of the modern age, and all I was doing was pointing out that there are parallels, based on the words of the article you linked to, that can be made with the postings of some people on here. I lump all extremists together, and you cannot deny that the left is far more associated with anti-Semitism in this modern age.

You cannot, however, draw any parallel between them and me. I have only attacked anti-Semetism and racism on here, and been attacked by you for doing so. I have never described in hateful terms any political leader, nor called for them to be rejected (unless by their electorate), sacked or worse; no matter how much I have criticised them. Your hatred for anything tory is your bread and butter. Worth pointing out, I think.

Your deflection has nothing to rebound against, I am afraid, and thus becomes projection. Your own accusations, to turn your feeble attempts to smear me, are the sum of your own embarrassments. If I say 'Moose's Children', it is only because it is the pathetic response your comment begs for.

So the appearance of mysterious men in burgundy uniforms in Nottingham this morning got social media speculating about all sorts of mysterious goings on. Are they special forces? Is there some sort of bomb or chemical incident? ?has the WEF taken up arms and invaded? Is NILO just UNIT from Dr Who by a different name?

    This was the original image:

    upload_2023-6-13_16-3-52.png

And now BBC Verify has stepped in to explain who they are:

    upload_2023-6-13_16-1-44.png

Three cheers for BBC Verify! Erm... except I'm 99% sure it's wrong in this explanation. You'll note in the first image there's only one chap with NILO on his back. He certainly is a National Inter-Agency Liaison Officer. He's the boss man, tasked with liaising with his emergency service counterparts. The remainder in the first photo and all in the BBC image don't have that designation. I would stake a reasonable wager they're just normal firefighters in a lesser-seen uniform mingling around awaiting a tasking.

Alistair Coleman, who is a BBC journalist specialising in disinformation according to his Twitter profile, appears to be doing wonders for the brand!

    Orrrrr

‘NILO’ is an anagram of ‘lion’ or ‘leo’ in Latin.

Which two people were born on August 4th and therefore have a Leo star sign?

Only Barack Hussein Obama and Meghan Markle.

Free energy, it would change the planet, poverty and hunger would be ended. Does anyone have it and are keeping it secret? What are your thoughts?

Free energy doesn't exist. It will have to have been paid for in effort in obtaining and likely alos producing, running & maintaining the equipment used in converting it to a useable form. Whether the end user has paid for it or not, someone will have done somewhere along the line.
