It would have killed the tournament.
The Aussies would have been very vociferous, the Serbs equally so and it would have been like an Old Firm match.
A complete **** up whichever way you look at it.

Hopefully with Djokovic out, Medvedev can start to dominate.

    IBB didn't play!
    Not selected.
Captain chose an untried pair instead of one that has played together for three decades on and off.
    We lost on games.
I haven't been overly happy today!
    Norrie schooled by Korda.
    ER v Sloane Stephens tomorrow.
    King Nicholas v AM.

Murray through in five,Dart out,Broady too.
ER in three against an increasingly pedestrian looking Sloane Stephens.
Sad to see the rapid demise of an injury plagued Goffin to Dan Evans.
    Tsitsi through in straight.

Has been for many years. Hard to trust a tennis player in a woman's match to win in straights sets in a Grand Slam if you're life depended on it. 'Topsy turvy' matches as I like to call them :D

Almost if they mentally zone out for a set..

Good win for Murray - again a long one though so how much has it taken out of him.

It’s because women are so prone to wild mood swings :)

So Murray winning in five is different to ER winning in three?!
    Come off it!
Sometimes at 4-0 down a player, especially in the heat of Australia, will tank a set and preserve energy.
    Men and women do this.
Murray was fortunate to play a guy who has lost five consecutive matches.
He will do very well if he beats Sinner in round three, assuming both make it.

I was talking generally really - no slight on Radacanu.

    Very good win too.

    No I understand.
I just don't agree with it generally. Norrie lost a love set on Monday. Mind you he lost the other two as well!

Murray can see the red tail lights heading for Spain and loses to Daniel in three straight.

Radacanu looks likely to join him, suffering with blisters on her right hand, not overly helpful if you're right handed!

Fair play to Raducanu, can hardly hit the ball on the forehand but not quitting or even bothering to get a new dressing for the blisters.

She’ll probably lose but she’s no quitter like a few other Brits I can think of.

    Unfortunate for Raducanu.

Amount of marches and fitness used catch up with Murray?

Unlucky Raducanu. Great grit and determination, and it was clear she would have won if at full strength.

I guess it would have been unlikely for them to appear on her left hand :)

Two sets and two breaks down v FAA.

Unfortunately that is it for him .

Was it a bad performance or outclassed by a good player ?

Yeah, double A will win multiple grand slams. Evans won’t.

Good day’s play for Nadal and Barty - convincing looking wins and seen potential rivals go out in their side of the draw

But then maybe we shouldn’t be too surprised about Zverev!

  27. I Blame Pozzo

    I Blame Pozzo First Team

Dan certainly underperformed but FAA is playing and working well with Uncle Tony N.
I was a little as Zverev has looked very consistent since winning the Olympic gold and Nito or whatever this week's sponsor is!
However Dennis is very hot when he's on so not entirely surprised.
    AB looks very assured.

Fritz looking very composed as he takes the first set on Laver v a passive looking Tsitsipas.

    Tsitsi in five somehow.
    Sad news today.
The nineteen year old son of a tournament organiser in Hertfordshire died last week.
He was at Sheffield University, hit his head and died.
    Possible clot or something similar.
    Awful.

Shapo has strong words about favoritism and Nadal after his defeat.

I think he has a point, umpires rarely enforce the time clock on Nadal and Djokovic but do on others.

Monfils into a fifth with Berrettini.

Sounds like 2 good Mens' quarter finals.

How much will it take of of the winners?

Wasn’t expecting Tsitsipas to beat Sinner so easily in straight sets tbh.

  35. I Blame Pozzo

    Nor was I.
His best match since RG although Sinner played into his hands initially. Certainly raised his level by about two notches from Fritz match where I thought he relied on will and heart.
Felix serving for the set and plays a horrible game to go 0-40...
Barty v Keys and Swiatek v Collins in the ladies.
