Is Perica injured? Has something happened? Joao Pedro has been quite poor for several matches in a row now, Success brings very little, etc. I continue to be really confused that Perica cannot even get in the matchday squad. Surely our attack needs something different. Would it not be worth at least trying him?
I think he's crap too but getting to the point where we might as well give him a polish as he can't be much worse.
I have been wondering why he has been rowed out completely too, and today it looks like Ngakia suffered the same fate, unless someone knows differently?
Another year on his contract too so we might go up with 4 strikers either not wanted or good enough for the Premier league and some might say Championship.
It brings me no pleasure to report that he is indeed gash. As are all of our strikers except Pedro who is clearly incredibly talented but is having a rough patch, which is to be expected of a 19 year old in his first full season in England. I have no idea how we are second in the table when you look at the strikers in our squad.
Totally agree, and as you all know I've been saying for two or three seasons that we need, all together now.... A FOX IN THE BOX
I often look back on his needless red card and wonder what if it hasn’t happened. A Sliding Doors moment? He could well have started the next three matches up front for us after that Carabo tie, with Deeney and Gray still having injury issues, Murray not pulling up trees and Pedro rarely used as a starter two games in a row. Instead, because of his brain fart, he had to sit them out. And bar that goal against Muff, his season never got going since. I’m not saying he’s especially good btw, merely that we never got chance to see him start a sequence of matches because of his needless suspension.
Tbf, he wouldn't have needed to be especially prolific seeing as Sarr has chipped in with a very healthy amount, and our defence has been great! Would JP's total of 9 have been beyond him? I doubt it
Btw in 12-13 we had strikers score 20 and 19, and a midfielder get 12 and didn’t go up! The following season we had a 25 goal striker, and didn’t go up! Happily our lack of prolific scorers hasn’t cost us this season, as everybody has weighed in with goals at crucial times, plus our defence has been magnificent.
Agree with the overall likelihood he’d have come to nothing much, but probably worth adding the ‘winner’ in the Brentford home game he was robbed of by a pisspoor offside decision to his tale of woe.
It must be me but when I have seen Percia I thought he has looked good. Clearly injury prone but clearly Xisco doesn’t like him. I can see him going out on loan in the Belgian league next yr.
There were some things to like. He got in goalscoring positions, seemed to have an ok touch and he was quite keen to gallop around at defenders in a somewhat ungainly fashion to put them under pressure. But for a big guy he was so weak and would hit the deck at the merest touch. The deficiencies in our striking options are really quite impressive.
He's not alone in being almost completely aired by Xisco, a few players can be considered unlucky not to play more
I agree with you davisp2 I think he has looked more good than bad, and I think he hasn't been given a fair shout. Maybe he can be given a run out once we have secured promotion, just to see what he can do. Incidentally his wrongly disallowed goal against Brentford would have seen us promoted already, and I think he would have scored more goals had he been given a chance over the last month or two.
I have been mystified by this guys lack of playing time, as I think whenever he has played he has looked better than most of our other so called strikers? So for me I would probably hold on to him and give him more opportunities to prove himself, mainly as backup and from the bench as I hope we are going to sign a couple of already proven strikers to be our regular starters.
It's been said elsewhere on this forum, but what would have happened if he didn't get sent off for that stupid elbow at Newport? Missed out on the L*ton game and then got injured and ended up with 1 league start all season I believe. If he didn't have much of a place in the team with us in the Championship, he clearly doesn't have a future with us in the Prem, but he won't be on much and did look a handful when he played, so I don't see why a Championship club won't take a punt on him
https://the72.co.uk/238694/barnsley-make-1-5-million-bid-for-watford-striker-stipe-perica/ £1.5m, quick accept before they watch any highlights videos from this season.
If he goes I think he will go on to make us regret letting him go. Personally I don't think he has been given a chance at WFC and I don't really understand why, because whenever he has managed to get on the pitch he has looked better than most of those who have been chance after chance. I wish him well should he go, however I hope he does not go as I believe he should be given more of a chance to prove himself here at WFC.
Looking slightly better than Gray, Success and Deeney doesn't scream Premier Legaue player to me. Another Udinese dud, get rid.
He'll probably do alright in that side if given a run of games, but don't think he's capable of making much of an impact at PL level
Would be a low risk departure, because whatever your views on him as a player, did not contribute to the promotion success of the squad, so wont weaken it if it leaves. His departure opens up an overseas player slot in the squad, which is handy. And if he does really well at Barnsley then no doubt the agreeemnt means we would reap some benefit from Barnsley turning him into a Championship first team automatic choice. It would good for him also as he gets to live in Yorkshires equivalent of a Tuscan town. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2644955.stm
