[SIGNED perm] Ryan Porteous

Apparently we are intrested in HIbs defender Ryan Porteous.

No idea how reliable (or not) Lodonworld is, but apparently hes 23 and a Scottish international whose available on a free at the end of the season. Seen suggested elsewhere that a transfer fee in January would be around £500k and he's also been linked with Rangers.

Dont know much about him, but a quick google shows that he has a history of dangerous tackles, red cards and a knee injury so if nothing else he can fill the Britos and Hause roles

 

And a YouTube video with some 80s music. Preferably The Stranglers, in honour of Jet Black.

 

He already has one on a different thread so just copied.

He certainly wears his heart on his sleeve when he plays. Believe he's targeted by refs in Scotland for what's gone on the pitch before. He certainly seems like he's improving on his rawness and has got into the international set-up. Definitely one we should be looking at to improve the aging CBS we have.

 

Terry Butcher would be a good signing to bring the average age of our CBs down!

 

Send back Hause, bring in Porteous, loan in Hughes, and that's a pretty good window there. Not banking on it happening mind you!

 

I don't think it's immediately obvious that Porteous would be an upgrade on what we have. I can't say I've seen much of him but he seems quite slow. We don't urgently need a CB anyway now that we've switched to a back 4.

An upgrade at right back is much more important.

 

Drameh eould be my choice at RB if it's possible. I kind of agree with your opinion on the CB'S but we do seem to pickup injuries in that position and if Porteous can be picked up on the cheap it would definitely be a welcome addition to the squad.

 

Add Drameh and it would be a solid looking window.

 

I'm afraid this falls foul of the "Watford are one of X clubs considering a move/monitoring a player" rule which means it's clickbait nonsense.

 

I miss the heady heights of the clickbait nonsense lumping us in with Newcastle, Villa and Everton for players we would never sign in a million years rather than Norwich, Burnley and Sunderland.

Yep, and it would never ever be some clogger from a farmers league like this guy, but some fallen wonderkid who had a 50 million move to Italy or Spain as a teenager which didn’t really work out because of partying and a poor work ethic, but there’s still enough of a chance he’ll develop into a superstar to get us dreaming.

 

We don't need to replace Hause given we switched from a 3 CB formation to 2.

 

He does seem on the way out at Leeds, but there seems to also be PL interest.

 

And while most of those players get their careers back on track, the one of those players we do sign is the one who continues to stagnate and ends up at CSKA Sofia

 

By way of several loans in other European backwaters.

 

Next season will be his season. I feel it in my waters.

 

Watching Rangers v Hibs out of boredom. Looks good. Good value. Young. So won't be us then.

 

I'm not so sure, sounds like the sort of career we could ruin for a couple of years.

Yep, any player that has a choice of club would be crazy to pick this car crash.
