Coming back ? https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/24863122.watford-discussed-early-return-rajovic/
The quotes from TC about how the budgets have to be reduced and it's the same for other Championship clubs is very different from what he said a few days ago, when he made it clear that we had to invest in the squad to keep up with the other clubs who will also invest. Clearly, someone from the "board" has had a talk with him.
Deemed not good enough by Cleverley and swiftly shopped out, absolutely sh*te at football despite the fact he got the odd tap in (exactly the same as Bayo...) and our fans bizarre rose tinted glasses for him since he was binned off, insisted we wouldn't bring him back before the end of the season so he could "develop", but have realised we haven't got a pot to piss in, we can't sign another forward and no one wants to come here anyway, so dragging him back is the only option and the clubs bullsh*t PR machine is running at full power once again. Excellent stuff.
Jesus, there are some very concerning comments in this from Cleverley. He claim's bringing Rajovic has 'always been part of conversations and we don't have a scattergun approach' - sorry but that is clearly nonsense. You don't bin off a striker in the summer to bring in someone else, make loads of comments about how they suit the way you play and the guy you sold doesn't...and then reverse that a few months later and hope everyone forgets the many comments you made. It's clearly a scattergun reaction. He says Jebbison leaving has 'freed up' a salary and he has to figure out how to use it. That clearly tells me we have to sell before we can buy/loan on pretty much a 1 in, 1 out basis. It's disturbing just how much he rates Bayo. I think we can put paid to signing a new striker this window. As he's essentially saying anyone who comes in would be second fiddle.
I’ve done the press release for Tom, if anyone wants to let him know for tomorrow’s press conference: “I’m absolutely delighted for Mile. He did exactly what I hoped he would do and went to Bromby without complaining, and he showed just what a class act he is. It was always in the back of my mind that we were likely to call on his services this season, especially if Jebbison didn’t work out. My only doubt was how much progress Mile would make whilst on loan. Well, he’s proven me wrong in some ways, but I always knew he had great potential. He just has that knack of knowing where to be and when. We already saw it and benefited from it, but I really wanted him to go somewhere and put into practice everything that we’ve been teaching him about link up play and closing down and so on. He’s a really popular lad around the squad, and he brings a real lift to the place. I am so looking forward to working with him for the rest of the season. This is like a £10m signing. And i’m really grateful to the owner as well as our director of football. And I know I shouldn’t say too much about agents, but we do have a special relationship with a particular one whose negotiation with Bromby was absolutely key here. As you can imagine they were not very happy about letting him go. But at the end of the day, he’s our player and we are so happy to have him back.”
I reckon TC got one of those 'Men in Black' mind eraser pens for his Secret Santa. All season he has been saying some of the most contradictory stuff, it is bizarre quite frankly.
Unfortunately with the recent run of results he knows pozzo is breathing down the back of his neck, and he'd be daft to openly antagonise him - especially on two traders he seems to have been involved more heavily in and which have gone ***'s up. Before Christmas he could be a bit more bullish as he was far safer in his position.
Not sure I agree. TC has been openly antagonising him (correctly) for fair old while. Comments around ‘buying players who aren’t ready’, ‘incomings I had no input in’, ‘everyone pulling in the same direction’ and ‘we need to loosen the purse strings’ - they are all aimed at one person. And that one person we know is a bit of a megalomaniac.
I just think he's too open on the record. I'm sure Andrew from the WO loves it but it really does make it hard to defend some of the handbrake turns he seems to make.
It’s not his fault the squad is so poor and the owner is so dreadful, but he doesn’t half make himself look clueless over and over again.
He doesn’t need to do that. Just needs to stop talking contradictory gibberish. It’s not hard. Say less for starters.
Better saying nothing at all then? He can make comments about potentially bringing Rajovic back, without eulogising about Bayo and essentially saying Rajovic has no chance of playing anyway - or any other new striker for that matter. His comments don't exactly strengthen his case for Gino to give him some wiggle room for transfers.
Excellent stuff. Look forward to him coming off the bench and scoring, while Bayo continues to be absolutely crap.
He is worse than Bayo I think overall but both aren’t good enough He’ll be sub at best as Tom clearly preferred Bayo and always praises him .
I think quite naturally our fairly decent form up to Boxing Day distracted many of us from our previously held views that our ownership and recruitment team are both awful. (Witness how many fewer posts there were on threads such as Pozzo Out for example). But now we’ve reverted to type and haven’t won in ages, it’s a nasty reminder that neither Pozzo, his way of running us, and those charged with trying to improve us are basically dog turd and until they go full-stop, we aren’t going anywhere positive.
Seen it all before. The last minute sucking up to the owners, the last minute admission of being broke, the immediate January backtrack from ‘we need top players’ to lauding competition winners as world beaters and suggesting all the other clubs are in the same position when they are all signing players. It’s the sign of the bells beginning to toll. He’s toast.
Wasn't there literally a quote from as recently as just before/the start of this very window from Captain Our T Clevz saying the plan remains for him to spend the season at Brondby and not be recalled?
He’s pants but he scores goals. Unless Doumbia’s ready to lead the line then we need him as an option at least.
Raj is a disaster in possession, but if Baah and Vata are putting balls into the box there isn't anyone else in the club I'd want it falling too.
This doesn't really say much at all, does it, given we have one other striker and he's a complete donkey.
Can't we play Raj literally on top of Bayo, therefore creating some sort of 12ft 6 monster striker that 'should' get their fair share of goals from set pieces etc?
