Off to Brondby apparently Brøndby gets the long-desired striker. Watford's Mileta Rajovic is on his way to Denmark to undergo a medical before signing with the Super League club. The bomber has had a wild development in the last few years and will now turn out for the blue and yellow. https://x.com/F_Abolhosseini/status/1830613728494333985
Don't really get why we'd sell him now, he's not great but he's still a good option on the bench IMO.
I haven’t clicked the link to see if there’s more detail but I’d guess it’s a loan? I think it’s a shame to let him go either way. We all know he’s got his limitations, but he’s the only player in our squad who has proven they can score consistently at this level.
Just wish was early in the window than after it closed. I agree with selling him because he will never suit how most teams play in this league and keeping him because he can score 6 yard goals isn't enough. I like having signed Jebbison as our starting striker (If he stays anonymous after his 3rd or 4th game then I'll be concered) and Bayo loaned back to us as our back-up makes sense. But I worry that Doumbia lacks the strength to do it up front (He's got pace and running in him so not worried he doesn't have tools to make it) yet but suppose the plan is let him bulk up like Pedro did and Baah.
So we are left with Jebbison, Bayo, plus Doumbia who was just poor in an 8-2 U21 defeat and looked well off a first team place. Jebbison had better be ****-hot & never get injured or it's Bayo, Bayo or Bayo, with Bayo as bench back-up unless they have another go at pretending that Baah is a central striker.
I’ve had my issues with him over the last year as he’s a pretty rubbish footballer but he seems to have a knack of scoring goals. His link up play is getting slightly better and he’s learning more. I still don’t think he’s good enough but neither is Bayo- I think yesterday showed that. Jebbison has played 20 minutes so he’s still unproven for us. It would leave us with Jebbison, Bayo and Doumbia. The latter is an 18 year old kid….. Jebbison will likely be the starting striker but as a backup, I’d rather have Rajovic than Bayo. I have a feeling this will backfire massively on us
I can only assume we have someone lined up on a free or at worst in January as we will be very very light upfront if not……. Hang on - is this likely to see the return of Success as a free agent ?!?!?
How is this possible with the window closed? I'd much sooner Bayo left tbh, I'm disappointed. This doesn't make sense.
You can sell outside of your transfer window, you just can't sign new players. I guess Denmark's window is still open.
I don't get this??? Football is about scoring goals, and this man does that!!! I don't care if they come off his arse or his kneecap, he gets into the positions to put the ball in the net, time and again, and that should be all that matters!!! I'm not happy about this one little bit!!! It's a big mistake IMO!!!
Brondby are one of the big Danish clubs, he was there as a youth team player, he knows his stock to join such a club will never be higher and we’ll likely never get a bigger fee than now. If true, makes sense for everyone involved.
Everyone was moaning when we had this guy. Now there is moaning that he has been sold. There is a theme here
I'm vocally not a fan of his, but I really don't get this - after a raft of uncharacteristically strategically intelligent decisions, this seems right back to the 'seat of your pants' 'you'll make do with what you've got' guiding ethos. Rajovic is largely terrible, but there's no denying he can be a goal threat in the box in a way no other attacker we have is, and to boot he has shown (very marginal) improvement over the summer. Now, our striker is an entirely unproven Jebbison (who looked very similar to Bayo against Sheff, albeit being thrown in against a tough team in the worst possible circumstances), and our backup is Bayo - proven shyte. Finally, there's a child who has never played senior football, and looked incredibly green when thrown in against a defeated Wayne Rooney's Plymouth side. So, it's Jebbison or bust. What do we do now if our approach isn't working after 70 minutes and we desperately need a goal? Bring on Bayo? Seriously? I don't lament the overall footballer leaving, but doing it at this point and with no replacement of a similar profile possible seems like it has taken us a step back in terms of the dimensions we possess.
What terrible, journeyman strikers are currently out of contract? He's probably being replaced with one of them.
Love him or hate him, the guy scores goals. He's not Messi and he's not even a starter, but getting rid of goals after the window has closed seems bizarre. Bayo has scored 12 in 71 games for us, who would you rather come off the bench to grab us a goal?
I've always been a fan, as a super sub!!! The man scores goals!!! He was last years top Scorer, and is currently leading the way this year, despite his lack of minutes on the pitch!! I know his all round play is Micky mouse, but he makes up for that, in spades, with the goals he gets!!! FFS SCORING GOALS IS WHAT FOOTBALL IS ALL ABOUT!!!
Massive soft spot for this guy, not really sure why. If we're in the market for a non-scoring centre forward, can't go far wrong with big Isaac! Quality celebrations on the rare occasion he does score too.
It’s come out of the blue for sure, but I’m not surprised really, Cleverley clearly didn’t fancy him, there was some late interest from Millwall and Derby apparently, and we did bizarrely loan Bayo back after hilariously selling him to Udinese. He was clearly a trier and scored goals, I’d rather have sacked off Bayo and kept Rajovic, but I can’t pretend I’m terribly upset by this decision
