Howe remarking on Joelinton that his drink driving was just a mistake. What an attitude to have. Tell that to people who have been maimed or the families of those that have been killed by drunk drivers. There should be a mandatory ten year sentence for it. Top man Howe. Feckin *****.

Boehly is going to be a disaster for them. Meanwhile the top six continue to cradle snatch and hoard players. No doubt behind the scenes they are trying to resurrect plans for a ESL. Hope Juventus go bust or are demoted to Serie D for their their latest shenanigans. Would love to see them play in the ESL from that position.

Bald fraud will no doubt have the chequebook out again. Haaland was superb yesterday.

The owner Bloom is hands off. The football director does his business, the scouts do theirs by a proper model and well they have an excellent stadium, training facilities and play some lovely football. Shame Pozzo prat could not replicate this but Pozzo knows best as does his chum Mogi. It does not matter who the manager is everything is so well organized.

They'll lose Mac Allister. No problem in comes Buonnanotte who is more talented. Meanwhile we look to Bayat's crapheap.

It has very little to do with football now. All about sportwashing and billionaires playthings.

That's why I look forward to international football as opposed to this circus.

Trossard looks to be going but as you say they won’t be bothered by that .

It seems very likely the relationship with Bayat has now been severed - with us bringing in the new DoF and Bayat losing his responsibility at Nantes.

Nothing new for Spurs not performing this half.

    Never seem to .

    Time for a new Lorry?
The Hugo variety seems to have engine failure.
We had a mixed match and both guys are Spurs fans and rushed off, leaving Fabby and me to clear up.

Bet they wished they'd stayed for the washing up now!

Conte will moan and make shrugging, Italian like gestures.

The Old Lady have been cheating their way to silverware for decades.

Florence still hasn't got over the title loss in the '80s.

I’d argue that it’s offside because Rashford is preventing Man City players playing the ball, both defenders and keeper.

Irrespective, if the law “correctly” allows that goal to stand it has been written by an imbecile and needs changing instantly.

I liked the fact Klopp sat with a straight face and had a go at the journalist because Liverpool had no money a few days after buying Gakpo for £44m. What a horror the man is.

On that point. Keeper off line saving is a retake. Double touch is treated as a miss when it goes in. Seems inconsistent to me, Why no have keeper off line being a goal if that is how they want it?

This kind of makes sense to me.

I think the first kick counts as the penalty validly being taken and the second is a foul.

Whilst a keeper needs to be behind the line, otherwise the penalty cannot be validly taken.

Yeah that's the answer. Mitrovic was penalised because of the overarching rule in football that you can't play the ball twice in succession from a dead kick, rather than a penalty-specific issue.

The farcical decision to allow the Bruno Fernandes goal is the clearest indication that football in this country is bent. In what universe does Rashford not interfere with play?? He goes to shepherd the ball over to Bruno & if he isn’t there then Akanji covers and clears the ball before Fernandes gets it. It’s an absolute joke- and watch Ederson’s positioning too. He’s got no idea who’s going to shoot therefore cannot prepare himself in time. Ridiculous decision that only serves to enforce the idea that the officiating and VAR is corrupt

Man City were extremely below par but they were certainly robbed of at least one point there.

Have to blame the law for that one - they will say going by what they are told to do that it was the right decision

Obviously in reality it should have been offside as Rashford pretty much was next to the ball as you say and influences play/mind set of others.

Even ex refs have admitted that.

Of course all the ex Man U players thought it was fine..

I felt a bit sorry for a minute or two on that Brentford penalty for Bournemouth but then I remembered they probably got so many like in the Eddie Howe era.

He isn't preventing them though - Akanji was never going to get there in time.

Ederson is preparing to save a Rashford shot thus preventing his ability to prepare for a Fernandes shot.

Irrespective of whether you agree, that goal being allowed is a nonsense and the law should be immediately changed if the current law permits it.

I've long had a problem with the 'not interfering with play' element of the interpretation of the offside rule - not just recently. A full back way over by the corner flag can always play any forward onside, yet an attacker in the penalty area in front of goal can sometimes not be deemed offside. It would be so much simpler if they were just offside if they were beyond the last defender.

A few days ago I watched the BT (I think) documentary about Forest's rise to league and European champions under Brian Clough, which I am old enough to remember happening, and it struck me how sad it is that it's now impossible for a provincial club like that to gain such success by being well run and managed. Supposed 'top' managers now moan that that they can't do their job without being provided with hundreds of millions to buy the world's best players. Mourinho was the worst example of this and I think set the tone from when he first came to Chelsea. They spend the multi-millions anyway then, when their team isn't winning, demand more multi-millions for a new set of players.

If the law is changed then you'll often end up with absurd situations like whenever there's a wide free-kick and the ball is crossed to be headed in - you have your 2 or 3 CBs up for the free-kick standing next to each other on the edge of a crowded penalty area and obviously all wanting to head it - one of them gets to the cross and scores, but the goal is ruled out simply because another player next to him in the melee is an inch offside.

So many goals would be ruled out this way.

I think common sense if allowed would come into play for situations like that .

Surely loads of headed goals have been allowed from free kicks if the player is onside but others aren’t?

I’d argue that it’s not offside, because Pep is a proper khuunt, and Abu Dhabi FC are equally guilty of being complete and utter khuunts.

If we'd have scored it against one of the big teams, it would 100% be offside. No question.

Agree, the wording of the rules is stupid. Currently, it doesn't make a difference if the attacking player causes hesitation or confusion by running next to the ball. The player essentially needs to have physically blocked a players run for it to be disallowed.

VAR decided that Rashford left the ball and if he wasn't there, Bruno would have run onto the loose ball.

By current rules, I'd say it's a 50-50 decision that went United's way. But anyone who has played or watched the game knows that Rashford is impacting the game there.

Can't disagree regarding the bald fraud. Consistently out coached whenever it matters and there's no Messi about.

Was always going to take time but Forest's investment starting to deliver on the pitch.

    Danilo is an excellent addition.

I expect Bournemouth to go down but it will almost certainly be two "established" clubs joining them.
