Ranieri promised a full tank of petrol every week we stay out of the bottom three. Could be cycling to work before the end of November!

Where's this? I've tried every night to no avail. Tank is so close to empty I can't do too many more recons.

I reckon at this stage people are topping up repeatedly whenever they drive past a station that’s not got a queue or just had a delivery, otherwise it would surely be over by now. It was similar with the bog roll/pasta/flour etc. The people who had already panic bought would still panic buy more if they happened to spot more in the shops again, even though they didn’t need it and weren't looking for it.

Facebook is down and suddenly the queues are tiny/non existent.

Can FB be down permanently please?

I read on a footy forum that FB posts are going to be in short supply in the coming weeks. I’ve set up 5 new accounts and made 153 posts just in case I’m denied access later this month.

I have an account on Nextdoor and there has recently been a plethora of posts saying that station x has just had a delivery in the dead of night, with others posting at 3-4 in the morning saying they've just filled up at station y (I'm something of a night owl and I really want to fill up, but I'm not that desperate!), plus a few weirdos who multipost as if they were on Twitter or say there is no petrol at station z. Not sure that any of this helps because it's just going to send hordes of members of Nextdoor over to the stations in question and then we're back to square one. The only things you can do is check them out for yourself and pass it on to any family members or close friends who might need petrol, or seize the opportunity when you happen to pass a station that's open and not too full.

Sainsbury's at Marshalswick, Snorbens. I'm not the first to report that. Also the Shell station at The Noke. But only at night in my experience.

Ah good (ish) to know! That Shell is my usual stop but only because I work in Snalbs. Sadly I don't live quite close enough to get there on my current tank! Will try a midnight run between Chorleywood and Amersham. Fingers crossed as I desperately need the car this weekend.

Google maps is your friend. Bookmark the local petrol stations and then turn on traffic. As soon as the area around a fuel station goes orange/red then there's been a delivery. Check every 30 mins if you're desperate and you'll soon see when to go.

  10. As of this evening Shell at Dome -none
    Sainsbury " - none
Esso Bushey - queuing back to The Alpine
Shell Harrow Weald queue about 100m.

At 09.30 this morning Watford Tesco had diesel and E10 unleaded, but no E5 Super unleaded. Costco members can go to Stevenage branch and it’s members only petrol station. I was told it has had fuel everyday since the panic.

I went to 14 petrol stations on Monday in between Aylesbury and Watford and everything was sold out of fuel. Luckily I managed to get some diesel at Sainsbury's at the Dome roundabout.

Blimey, you must have had half a tank to start with!

Despite living in a town which I’m sure must have an average IQ of less than 50, the fuel situation has been fine since the middle of last week.

I doubt there is any correlation between the average IQ of areas and the availability of petrol.

I imagine it's more to do with greater population density, and purely anecdotally, the stupid number of <25mpg cars on the roads.

Is this petrol panic still ongoing or have people come to their senses over this media driven bs or been told to worry about something else?

I think we’re all moving on to panic buying turkeys now.

Pigs in blankets a major risk this Christmas apparently.

I’ve already ordered mine. (Sadly this is true - not because I am stockpiling but because I got a “book your Christmas delivery slot” email from Ocado last week (!) and, to do so, you have to put £90 worth of stuff in your basket)

Good news. Until the email comes at 6am on the morning of delivery saying sorry they haven’t got any and they have substituted with a pack of 6 pork pies.

I know I’m biased seeing as a live in the home of the pork pie but that’s a massive improvement on a scabby dry old turkey.

True - but at least that’s a similar ballpark. A quick Google of best substitutions finds strawberry laces replaced with actual shoelaces; a pregnancy test substituted with condoms and baking trays replaced with marshmallows :D

One of the main filling stations near where I live has had petrol quite widely available in the last couple of days, which you can get without having to arrive too early or queue for too long. But a warning - when I came back at about 10:30 there was a long queue stretching more than half way to the start of the long entrance, there was no petrol later on in the morning off a couple of junctions off the M4, and between 2 and 4 pm I drove past at least a couple of stations that were closed, including the Shell at the Dome as mentioned above. So we're still far from out of the woods - even if you just need to pump your tyres, I'd advise doing it early in the day as otherwise there could be quite a queue just to get in.

Agreed but the pies are going up against pigs in blankets here. Tough call IMHO.
