Great, great song.

My two personal favourites are probably "Ghosts of Days Gone By" and "Open Your Eyes".

They're an incredible band. For me the best active rock band on the planet. You'll be hard pressed to find a "bad" song. They're actually pretty big across Europe - sold out the O2 the last few times they've been over here - but bizarrely underappreciated in the US where they're from.

I'm going to see Myles (lead singer) in a couple of weeks at Shephard's Bush. He's touring off the back of his second solo album at the moment. Then going to see Tremonti (lead guitarists Mark Tremonti's side project) in January. Hoping Alter Bridge will be back together for a UK tour next Autumn/Winter.

Ah yes, I remember it from the 90s, My Life Story were hugely underrated!

 

Just listened to it. I like the mix of classical instruments in a regular pop band but think their version of "Duchess", whilst more polished, misses the energy and drive of the Stranglers original. Might listen to a singles collection of that band though as I'm sure they will have produced other stuff I will like.

 

A very important album in electronic music apparently, it is very good. He has an unfortunate name though I feel. I am unsure about her name and his together now too.

Saw some Icelandic guys last Saturday in the Pub doing some top tunes from Talking Heads, Physco killer going down particularly well with the patrons.

 

As I'm getting older I'm appreciating far more genres of music seagrass being one of them. A chance encounter in Finland saw us taking in a Steve n seagulls gig and in all honesty blew me away. Covers from Maiden, ACDC, Metallica plus others were incredible. Well worth a view on YouTube super talented and so down to Earth fellas.
The Dead South is a regular on my spotify too, desperately want to see these guys live. In Norway next month so fingers crossed.

 

I saw a 09' Volvo V40 today with the stranglers logo across the back, must have been around 60-65% of the width of the car.

 

Not mine - my Stranglers logo covers 100% of the width!

btw. I went to my first gig in two years last weekend, The Stranglers (of course) at Brixton Academy. So good to experience live music again and the band were great - so much so that I've bought tickets to see them in Birmingham on 19th Feb, straight after our disappointingly inevitable loss to Villa that afternoon!

Very sad to hear of the passing of one of my favourite singer/songwriters, Mark Lanegan. Not a huge fan of QOTSA but love his stuff with the Mark Lanegan band and Isobel Campbell.

Fantastic new album from Midnight Oil Resist.

It’s been a long time coming, singer Pete Garrett served in Government as the Minister of Education inbetween, but the familiar themes, like climate change, media control and indigenous rights are there as are the pounding bass and melodies. Ageing rockers from @hornetboy1 to @Maninblack may enjoy.

Anyone listened to the new White Lies album? arguably their most complete work to date, and a big return to form after the travesty that was FIVE.

 

Ageing rockers like me don't use Spotify! However I've just listened to the 30 second previews on Amazon and it sounds pretty good.

 

Great band and great albums.

I always thought the French would be “Les etrangleurs”. At least that’s what I learned ready for my French O’level aural exam (aural sculpture?) at the grammar school in about 1979.
