Looks like no-one knows what they are talking about.

Happens a lot when you choose not to hear both sides of a story.

Incredibly, right wing media calling a victory on this one. To normal people Mike Graham completely embarrassed himself, not least of all his bashing of carpentry (when he is a useless shock jock for a living) but I suppose after the sewage debacle we shouldn’t be surprised at the way some think.

That opinion, I think, is pretty universal across the UK.

The only time I am hearing any criticism of the "cause", is when the loons on the other side of politics are ignoring good arguments for bad.

But, to me, Animal Rebellion, Extinction Rebellion, Insulate Britain, etc., are all the same thing. The leadership have little or no conviction about their alleged causes, and in reality are simply, undisguised, anti Government, ant capitalist provocateurs. The more names they come up with, the more it seems the Government is being protested against, but in reality it is the same people.

All of their alleged causes are worthy, but they are simply distractions from the underlying purpose. It is in fact easy to identify, and to expose, but whilst idiots in the media take them on by attacking their virtuous shield, rather than the soft belly of their anti capitalist being, the reality of their purpose will remain hidden.

Still thinking it is a debacle when Government requires a time scale on a plan before action, rather than a vague promise to act, with no set time scale.

Pollution gate is the most ludicrous piece of ignorance you could imagine. It is also the cause celeb of the worst of right Wing media, and is designed to pressurise the government into moving further right, from its centre left position.

It is no surprise to me that the "left" are also supporting efforts to drive the government to the right. They have been expressing and supporting far right wing causes for a couple of years now, with CRT racism, identitarian social causes and support for exploitation of cheap European labour.

First they tried to imply that voting against an amendment would mean water companies could start pumping raw sewerage into rivers, and still are relying on people being too lazy to actually check the facts. Voting for this amendment would have been less advantageous than the alternatives.

Second, they make no mention of an amendment that is to be accepted, which basically does the same as the rejected amendment, but requires that a budgeted plan be in place before action is taken.

I think I know which amendment I would have voted for.

    What about you?

Can someone please explain how voting for a pro-capitalist party will help solve the climate crisis? Asking for a friend. Thanks.

That was brought into sharp relief by the Budget yesterday when, for all the previous green talk, the standouts were road-building, cheaper internal flights and an about turn on petrol duty.

Within capitalism the Government apparently can’t not do daft things, like coercing people to get back to the office, increasingly by car, just so sandwich bars stay in business.

This is partly because this Government is allergic to approaching any issue with rigour (that’s lack of leadership from the top - gestures preferred) but also a genuine challenge. We are yet to see if Labour would follow through with a real ‘New Green Deal’ or if it simply wants to be a slightly nicer party of capital.

It's assault. And frankly a really bizarre method. Was he just just bought his ink? Was it a premediated inking? Or was he just wandering around the neighbourhood with the ink in his pocket looking for a potential victim? We deserve to know.

I can definitely answer the last point for you...

Centrists are not the answer (I say centrists, but wouldn't be surprised if Mandelso...I mean Starmer, tried to outflank the Tories to the right)

Does that mean they were illegally blocking roads again?

Everyone involved ought to be dragged off by the police and arrested.

Though only one person might reasonably claim diminished responsibility.

I suspect he wanted them to understand how other people feel about them.

I don't agree with his illegal act (affecting a few crusties), but nor do I agree with their illegal acts, obstructing ambulances, tens of thousands of workers, etc., etc..

    They will need it.

The clip of them getting inked showed the line of Mercedes waiting to let rip at them from the front of the traffic queue. It’s very risky for them, what they are doing, they are going to be pretty frightened and they need to be able to rely on each other.

So nothing fey about the preparations, but I wish they would stop doing it.

I heard there were protests in Dover the other week and feared the worst. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't a result of some horrible dog-whistle aimed at migrants tbh.

They probably didn’t have much trust at all as many were being sexually abused or otherwise abused. They had, fear.

I doubt that’s happening with Insulate Britain, but you never know where undercover coppers will turn up when it comes to fringe groups, if it's shyte we wish to fling.

Maybe, but what is particularly cringey is your 95% rate of reply to any post I write. Hundreds now in a few weeks.

By all means write what you want, express any view you want, but I’ve made it perfectly clear I don’t want to converse with you.

You are simply displaying a very deep animosity which is well beyond any disagreement in views.

No. I just happen to disagree with, apparently, 95% of your posts, on a politics discussion forum, intended for people to put their ideas out there for others to respond to, civilly. You put it out there, I will comment on it politely but critically. That is what a forum is for, and I have expressed that belief to the mods.

When you post on here, do not expect no response. I will keep it civil. If you don’t like what I say, put me on ignore. I have no problem with you expressing your beliefs.

You were, I thought. Equating them to Jonestown.:)

  27. HenryHooter

    HenryHooter Reservist

Sorry, but I thought they were protesting in such a fear of imminent catastrophe, because the Government has not yet committed to insulating every house in the UK. Their whole shtick is that they are driven to necessity because of fear.

They are either in total fear of the insulation crises, or they are LARPing. Your post above suggests they are LARPing.

It is not the police that are coercing them into saving the planet by sitting in the middle of the road, to the disruption of thousands of lives, some of which may suffer grave consequences because of these crustose, such as, potentially, death, injury, un-needed escalation of illness, job losses, contract losses, etc..

It is their fear that the world will end if the tories don’t make a meaningful commitment to insulation.

I'm equating them to a cult, yes. The video certainly evidences cult-like behaviours, although I accept their suicidal intent is far more indirect (but could plausibly happen and involve more than one of them if they carry on running in front of cars on a motorway).

Any chance you'll explain your comment now?

    :)

Does it need it? When Jonestown comes up its abusiveness comes to mind. That just seemed a bit harsh to throw at Insulate Britain on the basis of what we know.

They are a bit cultish, ok, but sometimes the worst things done within those fringe political groups (as opposed to proper cults) has been by infiltrators.

I probably took your comment too seriously so don’t make the error of doing the same with mine.

You’ve been on ignore for a couple of weeks because of your utter lack of civility. You’ve simply ramped up your bizarre need to answer my every word.

Your obsession with me is plain weird. In the World offline people simply don’t continually follow people around trying to converse with those who have made it clear they don’t want to hear from them.

Make your comments to other forum members or just in general.

I've replied to every post with which I disagreed, and a few I agreed with.

And people can see for themselves who is civil with other posters and who is not.

This is not the thread on which people have been discussing the left trying to stop the right from talking. Please keep it on topic.

Greta Thunberg is in Glasgow and from the reaction on Twitter it seems many chaps are in need of the helpline set up to assist middle aged men.
