Please don’t suggest this! The prospect of Foster leaving is one of the few things I have to look forward to in the summer. Can’t stand the bloke.

Needed a new keeper for next season and this one has a good reputation. I'm only guessing obviously.

I'm sure the club knew it would be tough. Aside from Kamara did any of the signings in January scream Premier League quality?

No not particularly but this guy signed last summer I thought ?

Do tend to agree we should have maybe got him into the squad particularly as Bachmann clear isn’t rated by anyone .

Very few of the signings we made over the summer did either.

    Fletcher, Kucka, Rose, Tufan, King.

I thought it was down to terrible decision making rather than any deliberate strategy though.

This is not a defence of Pozzo's strategy is it?

Kucka and King I could understand as they have shown in previous seasons that they can play at this level. Tufan and Rose were punts we shouldn't have made considering their history. Fletcher I just have no idea. 5 years for a forward that has never score a goal at Premier League level and not many at Championship. That one needs explaining to me

To be honest, I think Tufan was a more sensible addition than Kucka at the time.

I wouldn’t have made either deal to be clear - but Tufan had age on his side and had shown a high level before. He’s the exact type of gamble the Pozzo’s have made with us. Supposed talent who has lost his way a bit….

Kucka was 34 and coming off the back of relegation in a lesser league for a side arguably already worse than we were. So many elements to that deal that are too easily questioned.

Ultimately though, I think a half-decent analyst would have told the club neither were suitable for the PL. But we were losing Hughes and Chalobah and were in panic-mode. I also wouldn’t be surprised if advice not to sign them wasn’t followed.

I buck the trend slightly and actually quite like Kucka. I don't think he's as bad as a lot make out. Why we just didn't give Hughes the 3 year deal he wanted is beyond me

Agreed, he looks leggy past the 60th minute but the managers should be changing him at that point anyhow.

He’s fairly industrious. But how much of it is actually productive though. I appreciate the effort he makes but a lot of just seems like spent energy to me. But he’s not the worst we have at all. I just think it’s a signing you don’t make it you’re serious about staying up, that’s all.

Kucka would have been OK as a back up player, but to expect him to play so often was only ever going to end one way

Kucka would have been fine if he played Gosling's role from last season.

I forgot Tufan played for us, what a horrible footballer.

Looks a like a real character. We'll soon knock that confidence out of him the first time he drops a cross.

I know nothing about this bloke. I have heard he's not great with the ball at his feet. So surely if we're trying to implement a new way of playing under Edwards, he will not be required?!

Will never play for us etc....

  20. LeedsOrn

According to @LouOrns, Edwards doesn’t use the keeper much in buildup so shouldn’t be a problem unless he wants to alter his style.

So Sparta Rotterdam won their last three games to stay up, now Okoye has to come and join this bunch of rancid losers who have just got themselves relegated.

    F*cking LOL

Do we actually know if this guy is going to be our No.1 next year, or is he another Pozzo signing that'll refuse to play in the Championship?

For 6 million they will have to force him to play or sell .

When he was interviewed after signing he referred to coming here in the summer and referred to being hopefully in the Premier League but if not the Championship. But I should imagine he feels there’s nothing to lose by demanding to stay at Sparta Rotterdam for another year now they’ve managed to stay up.

Well for a start, I doubt the Dutch league (the bottom of the Dutch league at that) is much of a carrot, and also, if the club really rate him (which given our propensity for weird deals is not a given, even if we spent a big chunk on him), we could just tell them to **** off, we've already let him stay until the end of the season anyway

He may not come now. Negotiating another year in the Netherlands.
He is considered to be fragile mentally by the Nigerian/Dutch fans. Wow! Just what we need at Watford.
We already have Bachmann who can't travel off his line and was shouting for a move last January.
Dahlberg, who career seems have stalled
Elliot, who hasn't played for years

where did you get that from? in an interview 2 days ago he stated he was starting to look for an apartment in London.

nigerian fans have given him heaps of abuse, hence why he has pulled out of the super eagles squad for the time being. he also has a nagging shoulder injury so decided it was best to sit out.

Mentally fragile? Okoye was Sparta’s key player as they successfully completed an implausible escape from relegation. Some people are desperate for this guy to be a dud when the evidence points to a promising young keeper with the raw materials to develop well and excel.

Sounds promising. A shame for him that he is coming here if this is the case.

He’ll be starting rather than stuck in the u23s or shunted off to some unglamorous destination like Dahlberg. And with our defenders he should be in for a fair amount of shot-stopping practice. I reckon he’ll do well.
